Over the last few months in Colligo, Max had learned quite a bit about being a regular teenager, a luxury she'd never had back home while her and the Flock had been running for their lives from The Erasers, but now, having been given the chance, part of her really didn't want to ever get sent home. As much as she missed the rest of the Flock, she'd rather have them here in Colligo then go home where it would be more of the same running for their lives. Really, Max would take the weird things that went on in Colligo if it meant she never had to see an Eraser again. Not only that, but for the first time, Max actually enjoyed going to school at the Mansion and living at The Sanctuary and of course she'd made friends. Actual friends, who didn't think she was weird in the least.

Of course, she was still confused over her feelings for Ed as well as the lingering feelings she had for Fang, but he wasn't there and Edmund was and despite the fact that she despised showing any sort of emotion that would actually categorize her as an actual girl, she couldn't deny the fact that she enjoyed hanging out with him and when she saw him she found herself smiling like an idiot and then there was the whole kissing bit. It was a time like this that she was glad that she now that two friends who were also girls and might be able to actually help her. She would definitely be talking to Dawn and Nessie soon, but for now she was on her way to Ed's apartment where they had planned to meet up on the roof then decide how to spend the afternoon from there.

Ed was already up on the roof with a tennis ball and a set of plastic stumps he'd discovered in a shop a few months ago and then forgotten about until that morning when he'd discovered them under his box of summer clothes. He'd spent the past half hour bowling at the stumps, either sending them flying all over the place when he managed to hit them, or the ball bouncing all round the roof when he missed. He hadn't played properly since before his last time in Narnia, so he was missing more than he was hitting, but only just. He'd always been good at cricket.

He didn't notice Max landing on the roof behind him until he scrambled to lift the ball, and grinned when he saw her. "Hello! How long have you been there?" he asked, tossing the tennis ball from hand to hand as he walked over.

Max had sat down on the ledge of the roof after landing and had watched Edmund, a smirk upon her lips until he turned and spotted her, "Only a few minutes. If that really safe to be doing on the roof? What if the ball goes over the side?" In her case she'd just dive bomb and go after it, but Ed couldn't exactly do that, because he didn't have wings like she did and that would just result in disaster. She stayed seated on the ledge as Ed walked over and she pulled her jacket on, covering her wings which were now tucked in close to her spine. At times she wished that she didn't have to cover up, but she knew that the locals probably weren't ready to see a girl with wings walking around. She was at least glad that she didn't have to cover them up at the Sanctuary. "So, what are you supposed to do here? Just knock down the plastic things?"
