Well, shit. This insignificant little human was actually going through with it! Kal didn't think he would have it in him. Had to be insane. Yeah, that had to be it. Only a complete lunatic would kill himself. But something else was wrong. His instinct was to just stand there smugly. Let the building crumble down, let the debris fall on himself, only to pull himself out of it and walk away. But there was another thing, deep within his subconscious. Something that was now fighting against the effects of the red kryptonite that influenced his nature. He had to ensure that both of them, survived. Even though this man had not deserved it.
Fuck me for doing this, he thought darkly to himself as he stepped back. He turned to his left, holding a hand to his mouth. He made a coughing type sound. Suddenly, the window shattered, every pane and shard blowing outward. Then he used his speed, instantly reaching an arm around L's waist a second later. He felt the floor breaking up. There was also heat around them. He knew the whole building would be nothing in a matter of minutes. So, he darted out toward the opening like a bullet, still holding onto the man.
They had just flown about ten feet out of the window and soaring upward into the sky. They had just narrowly missed it. Because a second later, the charges went off, starting at the basement, up through the upper floors, and the roof.. there was a white-hot explosion. A huge ball of flame under them as the entire warehouse blew outward. A second or two later, and the other man would have been dead. They sped across the sky like a blur, then slowed to a stop and Kal descended toward the ground. He bet this punk was relieved to have his feet touching solid ground. Not that he cared about that. He released him then, looking him straight in the eyes with a glare. "Don't expect me to save you next time."
