Who: Arthur and Open
What: Arthur trying to make sense of things
Where: local high end bar
When: Monday Night
Rating: Probably low

Arthur really was torn. He knew this wasn't going to be easy, but he didn't feel comfortable any longer. This had become too much for him and for the past few weeks he'd been beyond kidding himself. He really did care for and love the other two, but Arthur couldn't function like this any longer. There was almost a feeling of suffocation, a need to claw at the walls but they were too far out of reach. There was nothing to grab onto in the free fall of things. It was more then enough to get him into a bar on the way back to work.

Having moved as far back into the bar as he could, Arthur found himself a stool and pulled it up to the bar, ordering a martini straight with a twist of lemon. He looked at it for about a half an hour before remembering he should really consider drinking it. Arthur was well enough aware that this wouldn't help his situation, but he needed it. Thinking twelve steps ahead, he'd already scoped out a place across town, a studio apartment of his own. He was going to need to start fresh. The way he usually played it after any job. Though this wasn't exactly a job this time around.

Absorbed completely in the stem of his glass, Arthur had become oblivious to most of the bar and the patrons surrounding him. All he focused in on was how long it was taking a small bead of condensation to reach his fingers.

Pepper loved her job. It gave her a sense of accomplishment and it kept her from becoming bored in the city. She felt like she was doing good work, and that meant a lot to her. But sometimes, after a long day working with Mycroft, she needed a break before she went back to the flat. This was especially true when her day stretched into the evening. She had been tempted to call Lucy and see if she wanted to join her for a drink, but had ultimately decided against it. She'd grab something for dinner on her way home, and surprise her flatmate. Then, they could perhaps chat about how things had gone during their respective enforced relationships. She was sure Lucy could find a lot to vent about when it came to Captain Harkness. Whether her friend would or not, however, was hard to say.

So she say at the bar at the one spot that was free, which happened to be next to a vaguely familiar dark haired gentleman, and ordered a vodka tonic with a twist of lime. As she waited, she noticed the young man was staring at the drink as though it held all of life's secrets. She certainly knew the feeling. Tony had left her feeling that way on more than one occasion. The longer he stared at his glass, not drinking, the more she felt a faint stab of concern and sympathy. She wasn't normally the type to involve herself in someone else's business, but it had worked out well enough with Lucy. Maybe it was time to make a change.

"You look like you have a lot on your mind," she said, taking a sip of her drink. "Did you want to talk about it?" The worst that could happen was he could say no, and that would be no real loss since she didn't know him.

It took a few moments for Arthur to notice the woman who'd come up next to him was speaking directly to him. Raising his head he apologized, "Sorry, it's... It's been one of those weeks. I uh..." Arthur wasn't exactly going to lay out his life story for someone he didn't know, so responding as kindly as he could, he continued.

"I appreciate your concern, but it's not really something I feel comfortable talking about. Just a lot of changes are going on. I think a career change might be next on my list." He chuckled dryly before looking back at his glass, watching the drips of condensation continue to ease their ways down the incline of the glass before taking a sip. "Arthur, by the way." Wiping his hand on a napkin, he reached over his arm to offer his hand to her.
