Max still couldn't believe that she'd actually agreed to begin attending classes at Professor Xavier's school during Thanksgiving dinner at the mansion a few weeks earlier, but it wasn't as if she hadn't been thinking about the possibility of enrolling in the local high school, if for nothing else then to get to spend more time with Edmund. Her and Ed had become very close and Max would even go so far as to say they were best friends and that hadn't changed after the last event where an older version of Ed let it slip that they were married in the future. Sure, Max had been pretty weirded out by that, but Ed had explained that considering how much weird stuff happens in Colligo, that was probably only a possible future and didn't mean it was really going to happen, which had made Max a little less weirded out and had kept her from becoming awkward around Ed. As it turned out that was a good thing because now the Pevensie's were also attending the Professor's school, which meant her and Ed saw each other everyday now.

Before leaving the mansion that afternoon, they had made plans for Max to meet Ed at the coffee shop where he was busboy and they'd hang out for a little while when he got off. Stepping into the coffee shop, she glanced around for Ed and smirked when she saw him clearing of a table. Out of all of the times they'd hung out at the stables while he was helping out there, this was the first time she'd been to the coffee shop while he was working. Heading to the counter, she ordered a soda then went to find a table as she watched while Ed moved to clear another table.
