She had given Luke a kiss on the forehead, muttered how much she loved him, before walking straight out the door. She couldn’t look back or she would be likely to change her mind and she had to do this. People wouldn’t be safe with him here and if Bellatrix was also then how long until they gathered their strength and began to hurt others? It was a god send that, to her knowledge, no one had been hurt yet. Now the only problem was to find him. She had no idea how she had managed to stay safe hidden at Jamie’s flat but she had and she was glad to know that. It meant Luke would be safe.
She had left just before lunch and had kept walking. He was bound to find her eventually since he always did back home. She just had to bide her time and eventually he would turn up, she was sure of it. She had just reached an emptier part of the park when she heard the unmistakable sound of someone apparating behind her. She could fool herself into thinking that someone had come to stop her but that chill down her spine made it clear it was far from that. Before she had the chance to turn she felt a spell hit her back and she went flying forward, landing straight on her stomach and bashing her head against the grass below. She was just lucky it was grass and not something a lot more solid but she knew that she wasn’t going to be so lucky as to only have a grass stain there. She would probably have a pretty bad scrape and bruise if not worse.
Lily, however, was lucky enough to be use to having the crap kicked out of her by the thing behind her and recovered quickly, pushing herself up a little shakily as she fired a spell be hind her. One that apparently missed her target. Standing up, she faced him and refused to let the fear in her heart show in her eyes. But with one look at him, the slight smug smile on his face, she knew that he could tell. And it was what he wanted. Fear can make a person weak and Lily had many things to fear.
Before he had the chance to speak, she pointed her wand and a jet of light left, once again proving useless. He must have cast protego, something like that had to have been done. But she didn’t stop, she kept firing wordless spells at him until he knocked her back once more, this time the back of her head colliding harshly with the ground below. Her head began to spin and when she finally managed to fully realise what was going on she heard him mutter the end of the cruciatus curse and pain ripped through her. Screaming out, she tried her best to fight it only for him to end it when it pleased him, starting the pain once more moments later.
