WHO: Cassandra Cain and Forge
WHAT: Forge needs help and Cass is the closest
WHEN: Saturday night after Forge's call for help
WHERE: In town, near an alley
STATUS: In Progress

Ever since the locals had started getting a little more restless and had actually begun attacking the non-locals, Cass had stepped up her patrols, continuously sending Barbara reports of every area of town she'd been to and how many locals she spotted in each spot who were a little less than friendly. The spots she tended to frequent were areas where non-locals had businesses and she cursed the fact that she hadn't been there when one of the locals had tried to burn down the video store despite the fact that they hadn't achieved their goal.

Tonight, she was patrolling another part of town where a non-local owned a business when she heard a familar voice sounded through her PDA, which she kept in one of the pockets of her belt when on patrol. Recognizing Forge's voice, she calculated her location along with his own and knowing that she was closer than Stephanie or Erik, who she'd heard moments later, she quickly headed his way, hoping she wasn't too late. It only took her a few moments before she was landing on the group near an alley right between Forge and what resembled an angry mob.

Without wasting a moment, she went into action.

Forge was out testing a device he'd been working on that should have kept the wearer shielded from the locals; a bit like the image inducer he'd been tinkering with on and off, only it just made people not notice the wearer. It had worked pretty well, too, up to a point. People were walking round him, brushing past and not really looking at him as they went past. He'd gotten pretty far before he decided to turn round and go back, when he got shoved into a wall by a guy who just hadn't known his own strength. He'd been checking the device to see how it was holding up when that happened, and that meant it got knocked out of his hand when he hit the bricks. He was busy making a mental note to remind himself that it needed to be attached to a belt or worn like a watch or something as he bent down to pick the thing up, and then he stood up and realized that the sudden yelling was aimed at him and the quickly-growing crowd of locals were not going to back down.

"Dudes. Hey. So, uh, I'm gonna just go now," he said as he tried to get his doohickey working once again, but it wasn't doing anything. Shit. Fucking Shit.

The next few minutes were a bit of a nightmare. Forge knew how to fight, and he could hold his own, no problem. But not when it was a mob intent on holding him down while everyone got a chance to beat the shit out of him. He got a few good hits in before some bright spark discovered that his left leg wasn't actually a part of him and it wasn't long before it got dragged away from him and he was left leaning against a wall. And that was when Forge started to really get scared.

"What the fuck, dudes? That, no, that's just bad, oh fuck, don't d-" he yelled, trying to reason with the man holding his leg, but it didn't work and he had to throw his arms up over his head to try and protect himself when his leg was suddenly swung right at him. His right arm flared up in pain instantly before going strangely numb and sore at the same time, and he couldn't help but crumple in round himself as he yelled in pain and fear and if he couldn't use his hand, if he lost yet more of his limbs, oh fucking hell, he couldn't do that... The awful sound of metal being crunched and bent out of shape snapped him out of it just in time for him to see his leg being driven over. "NO!" he screamed, then awkwardly tried to reach into his pocket for what looked just like a keyring.

He shut his eyes tight as he twisted at something and pushed at a different spot on the little device. Suddenly there was a blinding flash, bright enough to make spots dance in front of Forge's eyes, but he forced himself to get moving as quickly as he could while the crowd flailed around and yelled about the sneaky little bastard blinding them.

He didn't get far, but he managed to get his PDA out and make a frantic voice post before everyone seemed to get their eyesight back, and then he had to do his best to defend himself again. His PDA buzzed a few times, but he couldn't get to check the replies because he was too busy getting his ass handed to him. And then?

Then Cass was there. And fucking hell, she was scary when she was fighting. Cool as fuck, but scary too. So he decided to sit back and let her do some ass-kicking and he quickly checked his replies.

Cass had been called scary plenty of times; after all, when your first costume was completely black with the mouth sewn shut and you could take on a dozen full grown men without getting a single scratch, well the word scary definitely fit. Of course not much was different now except her costume and razor sharp nails were far more scary, especially to opponents were just normal people. Normal people who had gone bat shit crazy. A few locals made the right choice and ran once Cass had begun dishing out the pain, but there were a few poor fools who had stuck around and come after her.

As per usual, Cass made short work of them, then hurried to Forge, "Are you ok?" Knowing that he was an X-Men, she knew that he could take care of himself better than most, but at the same time he'd been attacked by what accounted for a mob.
