WHO: Damian Wayne and Stephanie Brown
WHAT: Steph saves Damian's bacon after the locals begin rioting
WHEN: Sunday Evening
WHERE: In town
STATUS: In Progress

Ever since arriving in Colligo, Damian had spent very little time inside the apartment that had been assigned to him and more time on the streets, searching for someone he could beat up. He knew that were Dick or even his father there, he wouldn't be actively searching for criminals in such a manner, but they weren't there and he wasn't about to ask Brown or any of the others for help besides, who was going to help him after the way he'd been acting? Not that, that was enough to prevent him from acting so awful towards them.

So, when the locals had begun getting antsy towards the non-locals, Damian had stepped up his patrolling and perhaps he'd started a few of the fights, but what did he care? This might not have been Gotham, but wasn't he still supposed to keep the streets safe? He didn't see the others doing anything anyway.

Damian was settled on the roof of a building overlooking a section of the business district, watching as a group of locals began to converge on a store that Damian had seen a few non-locals going into a few nights earlier, so he assumed it was run by one of them and he was pretty sure these particular locals weren't exactly paying customers. In moments, Damian was down on the ground behind the group, "Hey, losers!" He got the desired effect as the locals turned towards him; however, unlike the locals he'd beat up before, these ones charged at him almost immediately. Damian was able to take one down easily and he was going for another when a metal pipe hit him in the side of his head.

The current bout of crazy had kept Steph more than busy. When she wasn't in class or breaking up near nightly fights at work, she was patrolling. With the way locals had become violent seemingly without cause, she wanted to do what she could to protect the other captives. Or Batgirl did, anyway. It just seemed more sensible to go out at night in costume, since it offered more protection than her civilian clothes. Sometimes she went out with Cass or Kara or Raven, but tonight was a solo night and she was actually kind of enjoying the time to herself.

Or she was until she spotted Damian. She had something of a soft spot for the kid, for reasons even she didn't completely understand, but he could try her patience on even the best days. Throw in the fact that he was even worse than usual when he was being Robin and this was definitely not one of her best days, and she would rather have taken on an angry mob than dealt with the brat wonder.

Of course, it looked like Damian was taking on an angry mob. Perched on a rooftop, she watched as she challenged a group of angry locals, trepidation filling her. It wasn't that she didn't think Damian could handle himself, but he tended to overestimate what he could handle, and she didn't want to see him get hurt. Not really. And anyway, if she did let him get hurt, Murphy's Law of Batman stated that Bruce would show up just in time to see it happen and he'd kick her ass. Not something she really wanted happening. Still, she kept back, because Damian was a trained assassin and could handle himself.

Except when it came to getting smacked in the head with a metal pipe. He fell to the ground and Steph didn't even think, just pulled out her grappling gun and swung down from the roof and into the fray. She aimed just right to kick the guy who had hurt Damian in the head with enough force to knock him unconscious and, somewhat miraculously, landed on her feet. She didn't pause to think about the situation, since pausing could be deadly in a fight like this one, just started taking down opponents with a viciousness and an economy of motion that would have made Cass proud. When the immediate threat was dealt with and all that remained of the fight was a bunch of unconscious douchebags, which was quick enough to make her want to give a little fistpump at her own awesomeness, she dropped down next to Damian and checked his head before shaking his shoulder gently. "Hey, D," she said gently, "get up. This really isn't the time to be taking a nap." Because more locals could be coming, and unconscious on the ground was a dangerous position even for Damian Wayne.

As Damian's blue eyes blinked open, he stared up at Stephanie, which confirmed what he thought had just been an awful nightmare; She had saved his ass. Of course that didn't mean he had to acknowledge it, "Napping? I had everything under control until you came in and botched it all up, Girl Blunder." As Damian sat up, he had to resist the urge to bring a hand to his head as he suddenly saw two Batgirls, because then she'd know that he was just putting on a front; not that she wouldn't know anyway. "Haven't you ever heard of playing dead? Oh right, you already did that, didn't you?" He smirked as he got to his feet and glanced around at the unconscious locals then up at Stephanie and quirked a brow, arms crossed and head pounding. "What were you doing here anyway? Following me?" Even with a possible concussion Damian was still as as obnoxious as ever.
