Spock wanted to talk. This was never good. Either it was about business...or, well, business. They didn't discuss much of anything else. Jim had a ridiculous amount of respect for the Half-Vulcan after their traipsing about the Narada -- not to mention all that he'd seen in the alternate, older version of Spock's head. He knew the two were different people, just as he was sure the old ambassador knew he and the other James Kirk were separate individuals, but he couldn't help but allow the respect he had for the time traveler to influence his new found view of the man who had tossed him off the Enterprise and nearly choked him to death.

"I'll get it," Jim told Seven when a knock sounded, moving out of the lab and down the hall to the door. He pulled it open to find Spock, just as expected. "This way, Commander," he said, leading the way back down the hall and to the lab.

"Captain," Spock said in greeting before following the man through the apartment and into the makeshift Astrometrics lab. He had yet to see the place in person, although he'd discussed the various upgrades that had been made with Seven of Nine once or twice in the past. Seeing it in person, however, was certainly different. Especially considering the limited technology at the woman's disposal.

"Fascinating," he murmured, almost despite himself, as he stepped fully into the room. His gaze flickered from the viewscreen to the computers and ultimately to the woman standing at the control center. "This is extremely impressive, Lieutenant," he commented.

Seven of Nine tipped her head in response to his comment. "Thank you, Commander. I find it to be slightly more than adequate, although not nearly the level of sophistication of which I am accustomed." She cast a sideways glance at Jim, then back to Spock, before tacking on a simple, "If you will both excuse me. I have scans to conduct elsewhere in the building."

Spock wasn't sure if that was true or not, but he did appreciate her decorum and decision to grant them privacy. Waiting until she had left, he looked back to Jim before speaking again.

"I wish to begin by apologizing, Captain. I realize an apology may seem illogical at this juncture. However, once I explain the situation in its entirety, I assure you it will likely become valid." He didn't add on at that point, instead wanting to give Jim a chance to ask questions.

Jim hid a smirk when the Half-Vulcan expressed his fascination with the lab Seven had constructed, even more so when he admitted he was impressed. It was something akin to an affectionate sort of pride he held for the woman, even though he, of all people, knew that she had made this lab out of a need for one, rather than to show off her technological savvy. Still, he was pleased to see that it made Spock of all people stare at it in wonder -- especially since it was Jim who knew how to work the controls and not Spock. Something the captain would have to remedy. As First Officer, Spock should be briefed on how to access all the data he and Seven had collected. If anything were to happen to him and Captain Data, Spock and his father would be in charge and it was much less awkward giving a lesson to a guy you weren't entirely sure you still hated than it was to the father who died mere minutes after you were born.

"Of course, Lieutenant," Jim said, watching her walk off. It was odd addressing her so formally, but this room was as close as they'd get to the bridge of a starship here and with Spock present and in business mode, it was best if he pushed himself, as well, into command mode and made use of formalities, rules and regulations, instead of indulging in fun-loving do-whatever-the-hell-he-wants Jim Kirk.

...apology, however, was nothing something he was expecting to receive; especially not from Spock of all people. That made him do somewhat of a double-take. "Please, enlighten me."
