WHO: Claire Winchester and Castiel
WHAT: Cas stops by for some advice. Claire is all too happy to help.
WHEN: Around 9PM.
WHERE: Claire & Dean's apartment
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

After two weeks of not being able to speak with anyone from home, Claire had been busy playing catchup. She'd had lunch with Nathan, invited Lyle over for dinner and a movie night, and was hoping to catch up with Gabriel in the next day or so. For tonight, however, she was having a simple, peaceful night in. The original plan had been to spend the evening with her husband but when Dean had received a phone call that one of his regular customers had their car break down, he'd had no choice but to go to the rescue. Now, nearly half an hour later and with the twins already in bed, Claire wasn't exactly sure what to do with herself. It wasn't often that she had alone time and, well, frankly she wasn't enjoying it nearly as much as she thought she might. Finally she had turned to the video games they had - all near hundred of them - and set about to keep herself at least occupied until Dean came home.

She was right in the middle of a ridiculously difficult level on Left4Dead when a knock sounded at the door. Pausing the game, Claire frowned thoughtfully in the direction of the foyer as she put down the controller. She managed to slip her feet out from beneath the sleeping Chomper, who had taken to curling up on top of them whenever she sat down for more than thirty seconds, and silently made her way to the door. A glance through the peek hole and she wasted no time in unlocking then pulling the door open.

"Hey, Cas," she greeted the angel standing in the hallway, a smile on her face as she stepped aside and motioned for him to come in. "What's up?" She thought about pointing out that Dean wasn't there but, given her husband's bond with the angel in front of her, she doubted it was necessary.

He hadn't planned on going to anyone for advice since his post and getting so much information and assistance from many others about the creature, but Claire had a pet. She was one of the first ones to cross his mind to contact. And he didn't want to communicate over messages. The angel always liked face to face better.

Entering the apartment was easy, both for him and the small brown and white Beagle. It just followed him easily, like it had no where else in the world to be. Castiel found it apparently didn't since it followed him everywhere since feeding it, but mostly on his walks. The animal had taken to a spot on the bed that the angel rarely slept on.

"I have a small predicament," he explained, looking at her curiously while pointing down at the dog. With worry as to how chomper would react, he stayed by the door as to keep the dog back.

Spotting the small dog, Claire blinked. She had seen Castiel's post on the network, of course, but she hadn't realized that he'd opted to adopt the dog in question. Seeing as that was exactly what had happened, she immediately thought of Chomper. Although her and Dean's raptor wasn't known for attacking, well, much of anything other than shoes, she wasn't going to take any chances.

"Give me just a second," she said with a small smile before turning on her heel and making her way back into the living room. A few seconds later, with Chomper safely locked up in her and Dean's bedroom, she returned to the foyer. "Chomper is locked up and the kids are already in bed." Again, she thought of mentioning Dean but didn't. "Come on in, Cas." She paused, adding a bit awkwardly, "and... small, adorable dog that I've never seen before."

With a grin, she looked back to the angel. "Have you named him yet?" she asked curiously.

He'd waited for her to return quietly, unmoving and the dog seeming to follow suit in that also. Castiel glanced at it when she said to come in with a thoughtful look. "I hadn't planned on taking him in. He just looked hungry." Which had to have been his first mistake with the creature.

Moving across the room to the sofa, the angel sat down. The dog followed to sit at his feet, head resting on his shoes. He was a quiet thing, which was nice for Castiel, but he never exactly had the urge to get a pet. He was an angel after all and they definitely didn't have pets like demons did.

"But he's quiet. And easily appeased. I was thinking of possibly keeping him." Another thoughtful look and furrowed brow crossed Castiel's features. "I suppose it would take getting used to."

Claire followed after Castiel as he made his way into the living room, the smile on her face growing a bit when the dog immediately sat down at the angel's feet. Oh yeah. He definitely had a new pet even if he hadn't exactly realized as much yet. With a fond shake of her head, she sat down as well and reached for the remote. Once she'd turned off the television so there wasn't a picture of someone being shot - even if it was a video game - she turned to face Castiel.

"I think you should," she agreed. "He'll give you something to take care of, a reason to have some kind of routine. With the way this place can be sometimes, it might be good for you to have that to focus on." Picking up her bottle of water, she took a drink then paused, glancing at it before looking back to Castiel.

"You... probably don't have any idea how to really take care of a pet, do you?" she half-guessed at his reason for the visit.

"I've already found something to make routine." The job Cloud offered him that he took had filled the position for the angel. He sighed, if the creature didn't have a home, Castiel didn't see why he couldn't simply share his with it.

A shake of his head was the answer to her questions. Claire's suspicions would be right. Castiel wasn't sure how to care for a pet. The feeding part he understood thanks to the help of the others in town, but everything else was unknown.

"And he'll need a name." The slightly hopeful look on his face was his way of asking Claire's assistance with that. He'd never had to name anything before.
