Characters: Danny Williams, open to 5-0s and other law enforcement types who want in.
Location: CPD Station
Date: June 25th, midday
Rating: TBD
Summary: The evidence room has been cleared out and Danny's sick of waiting for the locals to do something about it.
Warnings: Strong language, TBD

Life in Colligo, Danny had found, wasn't all that different from life in Hawaii or New Jersey. The location was different, but the crimes remained the same. Bad guys were going to be bad guys no matter where they were, he figured. And, since that Asaph person had decided to bring his daughter along for the ride, it was Danny's job to make sure that this place was as safe as he could make it for her. Aside from the werewolves. And Hell Bitches. And whatever else this city had to throw at them. Those things he wasn't equipped to handle, no matter how much it grated on him to admit that, even to himself.

But, other than the supernatural aspect of things, everything was pretty much good. On this Saturday, Danny was at the office working on a case (several missing locals of the "scum" variety) when some of the witness testimony (also from locals, so it wasn't terribly helpful) reminded him of some photos he'd once seen, working yet another case. He narrowed his eyes, pressing his lips together while he thought. "Can't be a coincidence," he mumbled to himself before nodding and, with a sudden explosion of energy, Danny propelled himself up and out of his chair. Those photos, if he was remembering correctly, would be in the evidence room. And, if he wasn't imagining things, they might provide valuable insight into the case he'd been assigned to investigate. It wasn't until he got to the evidence room door that he remembered.

It was completely empty. None of the local cops had bothered themselves to restore so much as a table in the evidence room. They'd even left the little "greeting card" exactly where the thieves had placed it. How many cases were now completely, hopelessly unsolvable because of this? How many in the future would never get a break?

Glowering, his normally excitable temper coming to a slow rolling bubble, Danny pulled on a latex glove and plucked the dusty card from it's resting place on the floor. "-can't even be bothered to secure evidence, what the hell kind of circus is this place!"

Stalking back to the area where the 5-0s desks were grouped together, Danny tossed the card onto the top of the pile. "We need to do something about this, and we need to do something about this now." His tone left no room for arguments. "The locals are doing fuck all to investigate it, so that leaves us."

Kono had been here a little bit longer than Danny and the rest of 5-0, so she was used to the negligence displayed by the local cops. She even suspected that some of them were getting payoffs to look the other way, but it couldn't be proven, and she wasn't going to accuse without evidence. She remembered what that had done to Chin, and to her family. All that mistrust. It was unwarranted, and even if she suspected, she wasn't going to do anything without the proof.

The empty evidence room was taking it one step too far. Nothing had been done about it, and it had been weeks since it happened. 5-0 had been busy with their own cases, but they were not like the local cops here. Something like this was not going to go unnoticed, and they would be taking care of it. The local cops could do what they wanted. Heck, this city would benefit a whole lot if Steve was in charge of the whole police station.

She hadn't been thinking much about back home, something she was glad of. She didn't know what would happen to her because they had taken that money. It had been to save Chin, but that wouldn't matter in the eyes of the law. She felt like a hypocrite in a way. But here, she was helping with what she could. Aside from werewolves and all the other crazy things out there, Kono was actually enjoying her time, especially now that the rest of her team was here.

Kono wasn't too startled when Danny tossed the card on top of the pile. "I agree." She said, setting down the coffee cup that had been hot when she started drinking it, but was now half empty and slightly less than lukewarm.

Chin eyed the small card as it landed, taking in the handwritten script proclaiming the ease with which the evidence room had been entered and everything inside taken. It had been a few weeks since the incident and as Danny had put it so eloquently, the locals were doing nothing. It was a far cry from when money had disappeared from the HPD evidence locker and everything had been done to find the one responsible, starting Chin's slow alienation from his family, friends, and coworkers as he tried to cover for his uncle.

That the local force hadn't done much to find out who was responsible wasn't unsurprising to Chin. When he'd first arrived, just getting answers about what was going on and who was responsible had been impossible. Thankfully there had been the people who had been here longer to at least give them something. Chin had never felt more out of his element than he did in this city, with hell gods running loose and a mysterious, unseen puppet master who felt the need to mess with their lives on occasion. When they'd joined up with the local force, it felt like a return to normalcy. Somewhat.

As Danny and Kono spoke, Chin set the file he'd been paging through down on the desk and slid the sheet of paper that the card had landed on closer. Too easy. "I don't think anyone is going to argue that, brah," he replied finally as he slid it back and leaned back in his seat. If there was anyone less concerned with stepping on the locals' toes when it came to pursuing an investigation, well, it would probably be them and the few other law enforcement members that this city had adopted.

Danny glanced over to Steve, because the SuperSEAL usually had an opinion on everything, but he was wearing what Grace liked to call "Uncle Steve's Frowny Face"- that thousand yard stare where you could tell something resembling a plan was being concocted in the recesses of that scary brain and, chances were, he wasn't going to like it. In fact, Danny had a theory that the longer Steve wore that face, the higher the chances of one of the team getting shot.

Danny stared at him in return for a moment before shrugging and turning back to Kono and Chin. "Since our esteemed leader seems to have fallen asleep with his eyes open, I think we need to start processing the scene. Now, this doesn't feel like a local job to me. Even if they could manage it, I don't think the Autons here would be cocky enough to leave this lovely little calling card, so that narrows the field of suspects to non-locals."

Steve had been working on figuring out how to requisition a few sticks of explosives that wouldn't get him an eyebrow raise, when he heard Danny's very distinctive walk coming their way. He turned his head away from the forms he was filling out to watch Danny throw the card down. He raised an eyebrow at the blond detective, before craning his head to look at the card that Chin had pulled closer.

He knew that there were a couple of detectives that had been assigned to the case, but obviously they weren't doing a good enough job to get Danny this irritated. It wasn't normally the kind of stuff they investigated, but if there wasn't anything being done because it involved non-locals and the cops wouldn't know where they needed to start, it left them obligated to take the case on.

Flashing Danny a raised eyebrow, his "frowny face" lessening somewhat, he was said, "What we need to do is take inventory of the locals. Who's here and what they're capable of. From there, we can narrow down the suspect pool based on possible motivations. Kono, you've been here the longest. Off hand, who do you think might be involved."

Kono knew that they would get to the bottom of this, but they might not ending up liking what they found. They couldn't just let it go. No one had done much about it yet, but then again that was understandable because so much was always happening in this place. She really couldn't comment on their competency to get the job done, but she knew Steve would be much better. It wasn't their usual type of case, but they could still help, especially if the locals were busy with other things.

"I really don't know for sure." Kono said. She hadn't talked to too many people before the rest of the team arrived, and her cases had all been pretty routine. It wouldn't surprise her if whoever was the mastermind had someone on the inside to make the job easier. It was almost insulting. "Considering all the people here, I'd say we have a pretty long list of suspects."

Silent as the other three talked, his pen tapping lightly on the edge of the desk, he listened to the suggestions they put forth. His eyes were still on the card, brow furrowed slightly. Putting Steve and Danny's suggestions together, he leaned back in his chair. "Maybe not as long as it seems, cuz," he said quietly and nodded to the card. "Whoever did this has the ability to pull off a harder heist than this if the card is any indication. Not everyone has that kind of skill."

The non-locals seemed pretty forthcoming on the boards. With everyone pulled from different times and places, they didn't have restrictions when it came to revealing certain skills and secrets. Or at least, that was how it seemed.

"We could go back on the network, see if anyone's talked about it or having what would would be necessary to pull it off," he added, flipping the pen between his fingers as he looked between the three. "If not that, then maybe we could get an idea of who might in some other way."
