WHO: Henry Foss and Ashley Magnus
WHAT: Hanging around, 'working'...
WHEN: Late evening
WHERE: The Sanctuary
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Henry hadn't been too keen on the HAP thing from the start. Who would be? But he'd been getting used to it, learning and gaining the all-important control which made it bearable. He'd been really good at it. And then this, and suddenly Henry felt completely shaken, like he'd been pushed just as he'd found his balance and now was tottering unsteadily again. Tesla had said it was this place, some weird astrological thing that was probably inevitable given the two moons, but Henry couldn't help but wonder if he'd just worked a little harder, had fought a bit harder to keep control... Perhaps it wouldn't have happened.

But that wasn't something he could vocalise to most people, so he'd just shut up. He'd taken to working late into the night, his face lit up with the blue light of the computer monitor. There was still this weird glitch with the PDAs, and a part of him felt like if he could fix that then perhaps it'd go a tiny way into making up for the things he'd done while transformed. Plus, he was getting a bit sick with random text messages describing the messy personal lives of the rest of the population. Those people seemed to discuss their sex lives weirdly frequently.

He was eating a sandwich without really tasting it, his gaze fixed on the screen before him, another two monitors glowing on his right as they peddled through some operation or another. A cold cup of coffee was hidden between pieces of paper covered in his messy scrawl. Henry was so lost in his work he almost didn't notice the blonde girl wandering into the room. In fact, it was only when the footsteps were within a few feet of him that he looked sharply up, an arrow of pain shooting across his neck.

"Ash," the Werewolf smiled across at the young woman wandering towards him, slumping back on his chair and spinning it to face her. "What do I owe the pleasure? You better come bearing gifts."

Although Ashley had her PDA on her it wasn't turned on. She had, in fact, purposefully turned it off if only to ensure she wouldn't be bothered the rest of the evening by anyone other than those who lived in the Sanctuary. The technical glitch that seemed to be affecting the city as a whole wasn't something she'd wanted to be caught up in. And after she'd told John (her John - Constantine, that is, not her father) that she was going to check on Henry instead of sitting around making fun of those who didn't seem to realize that texting someone probably wouldn't only contact the person they were interested in, that's precisely what she did.

Smiling at her friend, the only one in fact that she'd known since childhood, Ashley held up a cup of hot, steaming coffee. "Of course I did," she replied lightly, more than accustomed to the way Henry would lose himself in his work when faced with a problem that wasn't easily solved. "This is not my first rodeo, man, as you well know."

Honestly, Ashley really wasn't all that sure how to handle this current situation. Henry had never lost control like this before when she'd still been around. She hadn't had to really deal with him going all furry and trying to eat anyone in sight. And now that she was faced with such a thing, Ashley wasn't quite sure how to proceed. Which is why she had brought the coffee in the first place. If there was one thing she knew it was that Henry almost always had a cup of cold coffee somewhere in his work area and she figured a warm cup would be more than appreciated.

"You know me too well, oh blond one," Henry grinned and accepted the steaming cup of coffee, the cold one suddenly falling greatly in his affections compared to its replacement.

He was glad to see Ashley - they'd grown up together, after all, in the four walls of this place. The Sanctuary, obviously. Not Colligo. Although while you were in here it was easy to kid yourself they were still back at home. Henry took a sip of the drink, made an appreciative noise in the back of his throat, and plonked the hot cup down on top of a pile of papers that he hadn't look at in a week and most likely would never examine again. Without Big Guy around, Henry's lab was rapidly turning into something resembling a bombsite. But at least the window had been fixed...

Henry pushed the chair back, rolling back a bit to grab the arm of another chair and push it in Ashley's direction before he used the edge of the desk to pull himself back to his original position. "What can I do you for?"

There were three things every person who ever dealt with Henry Foss needed to know. The first was that you did not question his genius. The second was that you couldn't drop hints and hope he caught on. And the third was that you didn't interrupt him when he was working just because you felt like it. Now out of those three things, Ashley was more likely than most to get away with the third - at least in her own mind - given their friendship combined with her propensity to break any and every rule she was told simply to see if she could. However as a general rule of thumb even she did her best not to disturb him when he was busy. The only problem being that Henry was almost always busy. So it quickly became a situation where she had to figure out if whatever he was working on was important enough to qualify as 'work' or whether she could manage to pull him away from it long enough to remember that he needed to interact with the world around him once in a while.

The current situation, after a quick study by the blond, seemed to fall into the latter category so Ashley didn't bother trying to buy some time. She simply shrugged and dropped down into the chair he'd offered her, bright blue eyes sweeping over the special sort of mess that was Henry's work area, before casting him a small smile. "What?" she questioned, "a girl can't stop by just to see how things are going?" Her tone was light but it was clear there was more to her visit than what she was claiming.

She lasted all of fifteen seconds before letting out a puff of air and her shoulders slumped a bit. "I am really bad at subtle snooping," she admitted with a soft snort of self-derision. "I was worried about you. You and I haven't exactly been the most talkative lately and, with everything else that had happened, I just thought..." She shrugged, hugging one knee close to her chest and resting her foot on the seat of her chair, "I guess I figured maybe letting you isolate yourself is not the smartest idea to ever grace these halls."
