WHO: The Collector
WHAT: Leading up to his big reveal.
WHEN: Today
WHERE: Out and about in the city.
RATING: Totally kid safe.
STATUS: Complete; narrative
Today was the day. For two years now, the Collector had sat high above the city in a seat of inscrutable power, far removed from those lives he so enjoyed toying with. He had sent emissaries to do his bidding, had twisted and warped reality itself to keep his collection from getting too close to discovering the truth, but now the time had come to finally reveal himself.
He had arrived in the city early this morning but had stayed hidden from view even as he wandered the streets to drink in the sights. It was certainly different, observing everything up close rather than from up on high, and he found it rather enjoyable. After all, this was his masterpiece in motion and any good artist was able to appreciate their work from any angle. He considered this no exception.
Of course, the Collector wasn't an artist. He wasn't some poor, struggling creative being who desperately wanted acknowledgment for his brilliance. He also wasn't, despite what many had come to believe, a child poking about an ant hill. No, he was something else entirely. He was something that, when the truth was revealed, was going to cause a great many to take pause and rethink their decision to attempt to attack him once they knew he was amongst them.
More importantly, however, he was simply bored.
That was the reason for all of this, at the end of the day. He was a very powerful being that was extremely bored and had decided to have a bit of fun. Now, the time for that fun was hardly at an end, but it was definitely time to add a few new twists to the game. His own reveal was one of them but, really, it was just the start.
Smiling lightly to himself as he stepped into a small cafe and made his way to a table, he pulled out his very own PDA and studied the network for a moment. A few scant seconds passed as he re-read the majority of the messages that had been posted there over the past two years. By the time he'd finished, he had finally chosen the form he would take, finding the references to the man in question far too amusing to ignore. An instant later he was viewable to anyone who might happen by, appearing as nothing more than a smiling, bemused black man who bore a striking resemblance to a very famous actor back on Earth.
Then, quite calmly but with no small amount of amusement shining in his eyes, he began to type out a message to all of those trapped in his own personal playground.
