Toph felt him coming nearer, and did feel a little better the closer he got. Not that she wanted to admit it because that didn't make any sense at all. Why should being apart from some stranger make any difference to her? Still, the ache did dull a little more when he sat beside her, and nearly completely when Toph gave in and slid down to the floor beside him. The earthbender didn't take his hand, but once she gave in to the idea that it was being away from him, Toph scooted closer against his side.
"What on earth is that?" She grumbled, laying her head back against the wall. "Who are you anyway?"
Might as well get to know the bloke she was trapped with. He had been just as confused as she was at first, so she doubted he had anything to do with it.
