A hundred dollars to his name and a flat that was completely below his standards was not exactly a way that he intended to live, especially in captivity, and while he could hardly do anything about the flat, he could certainly improve his financial position. He was a multimillionaire with an advanced degree who shouldn't have to live in squaller just because someone decided to bring him here with insufficient funds. Without ARK Corporation, he didn't have the same resources or influence that he had back in Palm City...yet. The suggestion that he run for political office had been one that he'd feigned finding ridiculous, but the truth was it had crossed his mind even before it had been brought up. Political office didn't hold nearly as much influence and control as corporate CEO, but it took less time and far less effort to achieve. Rebuilding ARK here might take decades. Getting a seat in the mayor's office would only take a month, a few well placed smiles, and the right shaken hands.
But in the mean time, he needed to position himself somewhere he could feed off the information in the city as well as manage to support himself.
Civil engineering was only ever a field that he'd dabbled in but found it remarkably easy to simply step into the head office of the largest construction firm in the city and waylay the head of operations into taking him on as project manager. Not that they had any projects on the books at the moment, a fact that was both frightening and laughable considering how much of the city was in disrepair. But no matter. Come the end of March, they'd have plenty of work to do. And in the mean time, he'd be working to convince at least a few of the teams to take preventative measures. Just to make sure no one could crushed under the crumbling structures.
