WHO: Sirius Black and Lily Potter
WHAT: Christmas shopping, and girls chats. :P
WHEN: Afternoon, Dec. 21.
WHERE: Out and About
RATING: PG-13 for Sirius' disgusting mouth.
STATUS: Incomplete

Sirius was leaning casually against a shop wall,  smoking his way through his last cigarette and occasionally offering a sly smile to whatever pretty girl happened to wander past. He tapped the cigarette, ash scattering over the pavement, exhaling the smoke in a long plume from between pursed lips as he waited, peering up the street for a telltale flash of crimson hair.

It was a cold day. The shops were piping out cheery Muggle music from their open doors, lights blinked in the windows and the faint scattering of snow that had fallen over the city gave everything a picturesque air. Although it was still bloody cold. There was a full moon tonight, and Sirius couldn't help but hope that it warmed up before then - a thick layer of dark fur did keep most of you warm, but if huge, bear-like dogs wore shoes people tended to point and laugh.

Sirius shivered, slipping gloved hands into his pockets and shaking hair from his eyes as he stared once again around for his companion. Sirius was the first to admit he hadn't been Lily's biggest fan in the past - he believed the term 'stuck up bitch' had been been used on more than one occasion. But then, she had hardly adored him either. Then she'd got together with James, which meant Sirius had to like her, but even then there had been a faint crackling of jealousy down Sirius' spine. Not that he wanted to snog Prongs or have his best make sickening doe eyes at him over breakfast. She was welcome to that. But Sirius and James had been attached at the hip since they were eleven, and the idea of some girl stealing his best mate away... well, it hadn't gone down too well.

But Lily Evans had this fucking irritating habit of growing on you. And three years was a long time, during which a lot of growing could take place.

So when Sirius caught sight of her trudging towards him over the snow, a wide, genuine grin blossomed slowly over his face and he pushed himself up and away from the wall, almost crushing her in an over-dramatic bear hug.

"Lils! I'm fucking freezing! Why in the name of Merlin's arse is it so bloody cold?! I'm like a icicle of a human being. A damn attractive icicle, but still.... you know... made mostly of frozen water and spite."

Lily had hardly been president of the Sirius Black fan club back in their school days. There were plenty of silly bints falling all over themselves to take that sort of a position. She had found him to be crass and and annoying at his best, and the scum of the earth at his worst. But whatever it was (and at times she still wasn't sure herself) that had drawn her to James had also softened her heart toward Sirius as well. True, he could still be a world class prat, but he was endearing nonetheless. It was this endearment that had gotten her to readily agree to go out shopping with the older Black brother.

The snow was beautiful, but it was becoming a real thorn in her side at the same time. If there was one thing she hated, it was snow in her shoes. It was easily the most irritating feeling that one could imagine. High boots generally kept it out, but inevitably some rogue slush ended up kicked inside if she wasn't careful. She walked as carefully as she could to keep this from happening.

The flame-haired witch had barely had time to make eye contact with Sirius before she was caught up in a hug, causing her to "oof!" loudly.

"Why, clearly the weather does not realize that the rest of the world was placed here for your convenience, Sirius," she said with a chuckle. "And it's going out of its way to piss you off. Thus the cold."
