Who: Regulus and Juno
What: Regulus attempts an apology
When: Tonight
Where: Outside Juno's flat
Rating/Warnings: Maybe some swearing
Status: In progress, closed

Regulus didn't know why he found this so hard to do. He knew he was wrong, clearly, and he felt terrible about what he'd done, but for some reason doing anything more than just showing up looking really sad seemed like a gigantic mountain impossible to traverse. Maybe that was the point, but he'd had enough of introspection for the time being.

Severus had been no help with advice, and that bit about him drinking Veritaserum was just preposterous, in the end Regulus had gone to the bookstore and had found a few books, who knew there were books written on this very topic? Resistant at first that a book could tell him how to go about accomplishing something like this Regulus persisted, no other resource thus far had proven even the remotest bit affective. And surprisingly, he had to admit when he'd finished a few books that maybe they might have been helpful.

He knew that he wouldn't be able to say it aloud, god forbid he say the wrong thing because his mind couldn't keep to a rehearsed track, so he wrote it all down, checking every word so that it expressed exactly what he meant to say and didn't dive off into unnecessary or wrong statements.

But then that left him in need of delivering said letter.

He walked slowly over to Building A, and hesitated before knocking on the door, his finger tapping a corner of the letter while he waited for Juno to answer.

Juno had had a few days now to cool down, to rant and cry, and all that lovely emotional rigmarole. She'd had time to consider her own actions as well, and it had occurred to her that perhaps she could have handled things better. She still felt that Regulus and his brother both had their heads up their bums, but she could have said as much without returning the name-calling and verbal abuse.

Tact had never really been one of Juno's strong suits.

She was zoning out in front of the TV, her homework set aside for the night when she heard the knock, wondering who on earth would be dropping by to see her, unannounced. She pushed herself up from the couch and padded over to the door in her 'I grow people, what's your superpower?' t-shirt, frowning slightly when she saw who it was.

"Couldn't sleep, or what?"

Regulus deserved that frown, but he counted himself lucky that she answered the door in the first place, or close the door the moment she saw it was him. And even with the dour look Regulus couldn't help but be slightly amused at her words plus the shirt she was wearing. But only slightly because laughing at this moment would be so wrong at this moment.

"Um, no, I couldn't-" but that wasn't why he was here, "But, uh," he tapped the envelop against his palm a few times more before realizing what he was doing, "Oh, I have... this for you," he held the envelope out for Juno to take. "Could you read... this... please?"

Her frown deepened, but this time touched with concern. He'd mentioned having trouble sleeping on numerous occasions now, and though he'd written some of it off with adrenaline and caffeine, she couldn't help but wonder if there were more to his insomnia than that.

She'd been tempted to scour the library for Harry Potter books, but she'd dismissed the notion almost at once. For one, she'd still been upset with the brothers Black, and didn't trust herself not to throw said library book across the room and stomp on it--and she certainly wasn't going to go out and buy a copy just for the sake of horribly abusing it. For another, given the fact that Sirius was Harry's godfather or something, she was almost positive that it would be just a little biased.

"Now?" she asked, holding out her hand to accept the letter, in spite of her dubious tone. "Are you going to stand there while I read it, or can I think about it and send you an owl?"

"Oh, now?" Regulus repeated, though he had no intention of standing around for that. "Wait? You have an owl?" His brain was a bit slow on catching the joke, but when he did get up to speed he decided it was time he needed to step back.

"No, um, take your time, I just came to drop it off." Regulus backed away from the door then, "So, I'll just... leave you to it."

Juno just shook her head. She didn't think she'd be able to concentrate if he was standing there waiting for an answer anyway. At least not and give his apology--if it was an apology--the consideration it deserved. Or didn't deserve, whichever the case. She wasn't even sure she was in the right frame of mind to consider it at all yet, or if she ought to sleep on it another night.

Something told her she wouldn't be able to ignore it for much longer, though.

"Okay," she consented, watching him go. "I'll read it." She wouldn't make any promises beyond that, but she would at least read what he had to say. Even if he couldn't actually come out and say it.
