Who: The Eleventh Doctor and Vincent van Gogh.
What: The greatest painter of all time is about to have a heart attack. Luckily, there's a Doctor in the house.
When: Immediately after this.
Where: The Library.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

It felt like the day had been a series of trips to and from the Library, but the Doctor could hardly bring himself to complain when Jenny and Vincent had both arrived. It was brilliant, completely brilliant, and he was so glad to have this second chance with people he had lost. Yes, Jenny was alive back home, and yes he'd known all along they wouldn't change Vincent's fate, but it was still good to see them again. So he'd got back in the TARDIS and taken her back to the steps of the Library. He came out and grinned as he spotted the painter.

"Vincent!" He said cheerfully, waving. "Look at you! You're looking well. How are you?" He hugged the man and then stepped back. "It is fantastic to see you. Amy's around too...but she's a bit...well...you'll see. I thought it best not to spring too many surprises on her." The last thing he needed was to make his companion go into labour because he dragged her along to see a Dutch painter she might not even remember ever meeting. He imagined that would probably be a bit not good.

Vincent was becoming more and more agitated. This place was strange, as strange as Paris had been when the Doctor had taken him to a museum. At times, however, that had seemed to be a dream, cloudy and colorless and fuzzy. Other times...oh, other times he remembered the Doctor and Amy being with him at his home and the world became clear, if only for a short time. During those few short hours, he could avoid the siren's song of the bottle and take pleasure in the beauty surrounding him. It was during one of those times that he made the small addition to his painting of sunflowers 'For Amy'.

He was sitting on the steps, cradling his head as he stared in wonder at the little black box that sat a few feet away. It still talked to him with a mixture of different voices, and he wondered just what had happened to the day that he had embarked on yet another extraordinary adventure. When the familiar-sometimes-it-was-in-a-dream voice (one he was at times unsure he'd ever heard to begin with), his head rose slowly, and he broke into a bright smile on seeing the doctor.

Leaping to his feet, he started forward, barely missing the "Peedeay" with his foot, and he engulfed the man in a tight hug in return. He let him go and looked him up and down.

"Why you look exactly the same as the day you left! I'm not quite sure how I am, really, this is all rather confusing."

"I have that habit," the Doctor said with a smile. "I always look the same...except when I don't...but I'll explain that later. It's a bit complicated...but I think you've at least guessed that I'm not exactly a normal human, haven't you?" He got the sense that it was rather obvious to most people. He felt it was probably best to explain everything to Vincent before his other self managed to talk to him and, most likely, upset him. If that happened, he'd have to yell at his previous regeneration and Rose would scold him and Jenny would pout, and it would be a hassle.

He picked up the PDA, shutting it off and handing it to Vincent. "Keep that," he said. "It's called a PDA. It lets you communicate with the other people in the city. I'll teach you how to use it in a bit, but I've shut it off for now so that people don't keep interrupting." And so that he could make sense of everything without Vincent getting too worked up.

"I understand why you would be confused," he said. "It's rather a lot to take in. But I'm here and Amy's here and it'll all be fine, I promise."

"I've noticed you're not exactly normal, but then, who is?" It was some small attempt at humor, because he was trying very hard to not panic, but since the Doctor was here he could hopefully hold on to himself long enough to get somewhere safe and where he could eat. Vincent's head tilted curiously when the Doctor handed him the PDA, and he took it reluctantly, not quite sure if it was actually safe.

When he mentioned Amy, Vincent's eyes immediately returned to his and his face transformed, a look of joy covering it, mixed with a hint of desperate want. "Amy? She is here, then? Can I see her, please?" All he really wanted was to have a look at her face and that glorious ginger hair, just once, and he would be content.
