Who: Regulus
What: Part Two of his elaborate, on going prank
Rating/Warnings: None
Status: narrative, complete

Light, today was all about lighting.

While out during the day Regulus had picked up new, lower wattage lightbulbs for every lamp and socket in the shared areas of the flat, and one higher wattage bulb for one very specific area. He, naturally, had magically concealed the bag and waited patiently for his brother to fall asleep before conjuring it again. Sometime around three am he went to work.

First, the walls needed some tweaking. Regulus needed a lighter, more reflective surface to get just the right affect with the dimmer lights. It took a few tries to get the color and gloss just right but after the third try he found the perfect combination for his needs, just subtle enough to not raise suspicion but effective for his plan.

Next he replaced all the bulbs for each light, in the kitchen, in the main room, in the bathroom, with the lower wattage ones he’d purchased earlier. During the day this would be almost imperceptible, what with this natural sun light coming through the windows. But at night, while the origins still as unnoticeable thanks to the more reflective walls, the dimness would strain the eyes.

But the keystone of this whole plan was the one higher wattage bulb. It was a soft light too, and promised to give a pleasing glow. Regulus placed in the lamp nearest Sirius bike – bless his brother’s brain for thinking their main room was the safest place for the bike. Sirius’ slip was Regulus’ boon. The brighter light in this corner was just enough to draw all attention to this spot in the room, and thus Sirius’ bike. Anyone occupying this room would find themselves, without knowing why, staring at the bike.

Whether this meant Sirius would just take it as a matter of course to stare at the bike or become suspicious as to why he was just drawn to it was yet to be seen. Regulus had more up his sleeve, anyway, regarding the light; he’d plan his next move off of how Sirius responded to this one.

And finally, for an added touch to the whole thing, and entire unrelated to light, before slipping back into his own room Regulus switched the direction the toilet paper dispensed. He’d change it back later in the day and keep doing that until he grew bored of this whole prank. He had a long attention span, however, that might take a while.
