WHO: Claire & Dean and whoever else is attending
WHAT: The wedding reception post-wedding party!
WHEN: 9PM; Halloween
WHERE: Harvelle's Roadhouse
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
NOTES: This is going to be one of those threads with sub-threads that your character can reply to. For instance, if they're getting a drink, have them reply to the bar sub-thread, then someone can reply to them for a conversation. No one is required to post (you can just say your character attended) but if you want, feel free! Basically during this party the candy will also start to take effect, so your characters may start acting a bit... immature. ;) So have fun and Happy Halloween everyone!

Ellen had put everyone without shouting distance to work just as soon as the word had come that Dean and Claire's reception was going to be at the Roadhouse. By the time the wedding was said and done, the bar was fully stocked, a band was scheduled to play primarily classic rock, and there was a spread of various finger foods on a series of tables that took up one wall of the main room. All-in-all, Ellen felt they'd done a damn good job of throwing the whole thing together.

Now she just hoped that the rest of the party went as smoothly as the set up had gone.

Tessa the Corpse Bride was sitting at the bar, having congratulated Claire on being the one to finally reel in Dean Winchester. It was amusing to see him settle down, even if Tessa had never really been interested in him that way. She was glad they were enjoying life to the fullest.

They might also be amused to know she had herself a date, of sorts, but of course she wasn't one to brag. Truth be told, in light of certain discoveries in the park, she didn't want the new arrival running around unchaperoned. But she always played her cards close to the vest.

Dexter, dressed head to toe in orange, smiled politely as he came to stand beside Tessa at the bar. "Drink?"

Weddings. He had never been one for weddings, or funerals, or any kind of event where you were supposed to feel some kind of obvious emotion. The people crying, kissing, laughing. It seemed so... messy. At least in Miami he had been able to mask his empty eyes with sunglasses. Weddings themselves, although he understood the concept when it came to financial perks, confused him. But it was all part of the disguise. You had to play the part.

"Are you competing?" he smiled again, nodding to Tessa's costume and then towards the actual bride, who sat at her table with her new husband. Two drinks were deposited before him, and he slid one across to his date. Because technically, he supposed that was who she was.

Rita probably wouldn't approve.

"Sure," Tessa agreed, smiling as she noted Dexter's costume. She was probably only slightly more comfortable at weddings than he was. After all, marriages were for the living.

Thanking him for the drink, she lifted it to her lips, but barely even took a sip--again, unaccustomed to the consumption of alcohol and its effect on her physical manifestation. She set the glass back down and shook her head. "Nah," she said almost playfully, following his gaze to the bride and groom. "He's not really my type."

That was only partially true. Everyone was Tessa's type, and she would get another chance to spirit him away eventually. Just not to a honeymoon suite. "But what about you? I notice Dean isn't the only one strapping on the old ball and chain tonight."

Could it be possible he'd made a friend? In such a short space of time? How... unusual for him. But good. Friends were what normal people had. That was part the reason he'd much such a large social network back home. It was frustrating to have all his hard work undone. Dexter gave a light snort of laughter as Tessa glanced at the new couple, lifting his own drink.

Ball and chain. He hadn't even realized there was a joke there. He looked down, nudging the polystyrene ball with his foot. "There was... limited options at the store. It was either this or dead schoolgirl." Dexter smiled, taking a sip of drink and turning back, leaning on the bar to quietly observe the people moving over the space.

"So how d'you know the uh..." He pointed towards Claire and Dean, using the hand still holding the drink and tilting his head. "happy couple?"

Tessa nodded, still smiling. "Looks good on you," she teased. She took another tiny sip of her drink, watching the wedding party, and then looked back at Dex.

"I met Dean back home at the hospital where I used to volunteer," she said, "Not exactly the most pleasant of circumstances." Her expression grew appropriately sympathetic at the memory. "Anyway, he made up for it later by rescuing me from kidnappers. One of those weird right place, right time kinds of things. And here we are now. What a coincidence, huh?"

Dressed as the Jolly Green Giant, per his brother's almost-request, Sam watched Cas wander or to speak to Juno. He took a step to follow, but changed his course, and sauntered over to the bar instead. He half expected to find a flask there waiting for him, and anyone nearby might have picked up on his apprehension if they were paying attention. He let out his breath as he slid into a seat, flask free for the time being.

He glanced over at Cas and Juno, and smiled to himself. They seemed to be hitting it off. He swept his gaze across the room, seeing the various couples and groups of people. He sat alone, but he hardly felt alone. Most of the people he loved were nearby, even his dad had wandered back to town for the event. Sam didn't expect him to stay long, but he was glad he'd had the decency to show, he knew it meant a lot to Dean to have John there. Speaking of Dean, Sam's gaze continued over to his brother and his new sister in law. He already loved Claire like a sister, and now that it was official, it just seemed right.

He'd caught Dean's message not long before the ceremony was sset to start. he hadn't bothered to reply, he hadn't even been sure he'd make it back in time. He'd found his way to the book shop with no time to spare, slipping in just as the ceremony started.

Though he was tempted to slip out just as quickly, he stuck around long enough to join the after party at the Roadhouse. While Sam could stand alone without feeling alone, John could be in the middle of the crowd and feel completely alone. Ellen and Bill were his friends, but he felt awkward around them. Dean, Sam, and Adam were his sons, but he felt like a failure to them, and he never really knew quite what to say to any of them. He ought to say something, to Dean and Claire, if no one else, but so far he hadn't gotten close enough to say anything at all.

With Yellow Eyes in town, he felt more invested in keeping watch, making sure the demon didn't try to crash the party. For that reason, John Winchester hovered near the doors, watching the party as an outsider.

Claire Winchester. This morning, she had woken as Claire Bennet, daughter of Noah Bennet. Now she was Claire Winchester, wife of Dean Winchester. Still daughter of Noah Bennet too, of course, but wow. If anyone had told her a year ago that this is where she'd be come Halloween, she would have thought they were certifiable. Yet she'd never been happier.

Sitting at the table near the front of the room - with a clear view of all of the guests - Claire drummed her fingers lightly on the table as she watched people milling about. Dressed in her costume, she had to admit that this was probably going to be the oddest wedding reception anyone present had ever attended.

And considering there were quite a few in attendance who had been alive for thousands of years, that was saying something.

Glancing toward one of the waitresses that she assumed Ellen had just hired from a temp service for the night, Claire asked for a bottle of water when the girl approached. She considered going to get some food but held off for the time being. She knew people would probably want to approach her sooner rather than later and didn't want her mouth full of food when they did.

Dean was a married man. And boy was it weird just thinking that. There had been a time when the very idea of getting married would have sent him running, but now it felt good. More than good. It felt like the best damn thing that had ever happened to him. Sure, he was wearing a costume and getting married about six hours after asking his girlfriend, but he was happy and he had his family and he didn't think it could get better.

He'd gone off to get some drinks and brought them back just as Claire was asking the waitress for water. "Here you go," he said, handing her a glass of sparkling cider. "I thought a beautiful girl like you could use a drink." He grinned and gave her a cheesy wink. "Just don't let my wife know I said that." Wife. It sounded pretty fucking awesome the more he said it. He knew he was grinning like an idiot, but he really didn't care.

"Hey," he said in a conspiratorial tone as he sat down. "We're married. How weird is that?" Yeah, he was being a complete dork about it, but he was just excited. "So, Mrs. Winchester," he said after a moment, and it still sounded awesome to call her that, "how does it feel?"

Claire's smile was bright enough to light whole room, she was sure of it. She was equally sure if she didn't have her ability her face would probably hurt by now. Yet she couldn't help it. She had started smiling around the time Dean had texted her, asking her to marry him, and she hadn't stopped most of the day. Now that it was official, she was in such a state of euphoria she doubted she could stop grinning even if she wanted to.

Looking up at Dean when he handed her the sparkling cider, she laughed softly and leaned closer to him as he sat down. Her free hand rested on his thigh; her green eyes sparkled mischievously as she met his gaze. "It feels pretty awesome," she replied as she pressed her lips lightly to his. Noses all but touching, she pulled back just enough to add, "Really awesome, in fact."

She raised her glass a bit in a toast meant just for them, before the chaos of the party itself could make for a good distraction. "To my husband - and wow am I going to have to get used to saying that," she began, sitting up a bit straighter and trying for some mock seriousness that reverted back to a grin almost as soon as she'd managed it.

"Thank you for marrying me despite my total inability to solve a problem without jumping out of a window," she said, managing to look at least a touch sombre until the last. Smiling broadly once more, she half-laughed as she added, "And here's hoping that, eventually, you might even help me remember that I can at least open the window before deciding to jump." Sticking her tongue out at him, still giggling softly, Claire clinked her glass against his and took a sip of her cider.

Ben wasn't going to cry. He had decided hours ago and it was a pretty serious promise, made to himself, and he fully intended to honour it.

He wiped his sleeve on his hip to try and return it to it's original condition. It wasn't hugely successful. It wasn't even the first time he had cried today but it was astonishingly different. These tears, embarrassing as they were, were far more welcomed.

He excused himself from Molly for a minute. There was something he wanted to do and he wanted to do it alone. Just the three of them. He was fast and lucky and found them, for the moment, alone. His arms slipped around Claire's waist, his head rested on her shoulder. "So, do you come here often," he grinned, even as a stray tear made its annoying way down his cheek, right when he happened to be looking at his dad.

He didn't expect it to feel different. It wasn't different but he felt... a little safer. He knew neither Claire, nor his dad, would ever leave by choice but now he was somehow more sure.
He turned his head a little, hiding his face in Claire's hair. "I love you, mom," he said softly, holding himself close to her for a moment. He released her slowly to approach his father, the man he had looked up to since he was eight years old. He wrapped his arms about Dean, stepping into a hug of his own making.

"You'll do fine," he said, patting his father gamely on the back. "And I love you." His voice was soft, only for his parents. He had been hungry for this time with them since he read that message but this moment rendered all the earlier anguish forgotten. All the fear he'd carried for the last few weeks evaporated. He finally felt things were going to be OK. That their family was going to be whole. That he could stay. That he wanted to stay. That he was looking forward to meeting his siblings. That he was home again.

Ben leaned against his father for a long minute before taking back his own weight. He reached for their hands. "We're Winchesters," he said proudly, "and nothing's gonna be too much for us." He smiled at each of them. "Got that?"

"Awesome's a really good word for it," Dean agreed, before kissing his wife. Kissing his wife. He felt really good about that thought. He hit his glass against hers and smiled fondly. "To my wife. It's nice to drop the '-type-person' from the end of it." He grinned, shaking his head and laughing. "Thank you for being crazy enough to marry me in spite of my tendency to punch every problem in the face. And I hope you never come to your senses."

Then Ben was there and everything was perfect. "Hey now," he said. "No putting the moves on my wife." But he was grinning and he hadn't felt this good in years...maybe not ever. When Ben called Claire 'mom', he had to subtly wipe at his eyes, because it felt like he'd been waiting for that for too long and suddenly everything had coalesced into something good and right. This was his family, and he would do just about anything to keep them safe.

He hugged Ben tightly and nodded his head. "Love you too, kiddo," he said. "More than anything." He sighed. "And you'll do just fine too." He hugged Ben for a long moment, then let him go and took his hand. "Damn right, Ben." All the earlier nervousness was gone and he felt at peace with things in a way he hadn't before.

Juno was sitting at one of the tables, as close as she dared to sit next to the families of the bride and groom. She was dressed in her morbid and creepifying Virgin Mary costume, and pleased as punch that nobody she'd met so far seemed to mind the fact that she was a weird ass kid.

She even got a kick out of Dean's taste in music.

Castiel was mildly unsettled by Juno's attire but he couldn't bring himself to comment. Perhaps it had a significance to her he didn't understand? Cas didn't wear a costume himself. There days he was forced to choose comfort and he did not want to pretend to be someone else. He wanted to attend as himself though he appreciated others were not bound by such concerns.

He has been in contact with Sam all night but, after a few hours of peaceful interaction, he was feeling a little more comfortable. He let go of Sam and moved towards the curiously dressed teen. It was a strange circumstance under which to meet but he wished to take the chance as it was presented.

To the dulcet tones of classic rock Castiel hovered over her table. "May I join you?" the former angel asked, a glass of juice in his hand, his promise to Jade making him wary of anything stronger.

"Knock yourself out," Juno replied, her voice muffled inside the mask. The costume had been Dean's idea, to an extent, but run with it, playing off his strangely juvenile sense of humor and feeling almost like one of the family.

She peered out the eye-holes for a moment, then decided it would probably be more polite--not to mention easier to converse--if she just took the mask off. She did so, setting it on the table, and letting Mary's mantilla veil fall down around her shoulders like a hoodie. "I mean, be my guess," she added, gesturing to the chair. "I'm just...watching the festivities, I guess. I'm Juno."

Castiel had been around humans long enough to pick up on many of their expressions and he knew she was offering an invitation to join her, not to induce an unconscious state. He settled into the seat opposite, pulled it a little closer to the table.

"It is an honour to meet you, Juno. I am Castiel," he said, offered a shy little smile. "Dean and Claire are my closest friends. This is... significant for them. I appreciate the good news this offered. It is good to see those you care about happy, I have found." There was a tension about his body, so clear one could feasible be surprised he was moving at all.

"That is a... curious costume," he said, without expression. He was not wearing one himself. He was not feeling even slightly whimsical.

"It was really great of them to include me," Juno agreed, "I almost feel like part of the family. And I'm glad you could make it. It's nice to finally meet you." Castiel was adorable, with his formal speech, she couldn't help but smile back. She knew he'd taken a pretty good beating on many levels, having lost his wings. She couldn't even imagine how much that had to hurt--but probably worse than childbirth would.

"I know, right?" she mused, glancing down at her costume and adjusting the blue robes on her shoulders. "I was just going to wear a sweatshirt with a name-tag that said, 'Hi, my name is Jonah' right in the middle of it--you know, like Jonah in the Whale?" She made a gestured exaggerating the size of her rounded stomach. "Dean voted for Virgin Mary costume, for the blasphemy factor, because it's no secret that mine was not an immaculate conception. The mask doesn't really go with the rest of it though."

She finally paused to catch her breath, and took a sip of her sparkling water. "I hope it's not offensive," she said, "I know my sense of humor is a little bit strange, but that wasn't my intent."

"They seem to know very quickly who they will like," Castiel speculated. "And they are usually welcoming." Dean much more now he was with Claire. She had been good for him. Castiel hoped he and Sam had been good for each other...

He gave an understanding look at her mention of the costume having Dean's stamp of approval. "That... sounds like Dean." Yet... he had invited...
"Though I was aware your conception was natural," he added, sounding very much the angel he had not become accustomed to not being. He sipped at his drink without reaction or enthusiasm.

Castiel considered her concern. It ended up offering a little shrug. "It is of no consequence to me." He stared across the room, his mind miles away. Slowly his attention back to Juno. "I hope you are well," he said, more than politely.

Juno smiled, nodding at Castiel's commentary. She supposed he might have had the inside scoop so to speak, while he still had his angelic powers. "I'm very well," she said, rubbing her tummy. "I'm trying to eat healthy like my step mom was teaching me before I came here. And I'm starting to be able to tell when he's awake or resting now. Or she. "I don't think Sam's desire should determine if you know if you are more comfortable knowing. You need to not tell him." Only the fact she was considering Sam's feelings and desires made a little spark of hope flutter in his chest. He kept it to himself, having no desire to pressure the girl for a decision. There would be other chances if she chose another family or chose to keep the baby. Castiel did not see himself as a good candidate for a child at this point and he was not going to present himself as such.

All the same... "I am glad you are taking care," he said. "You should... do you wish to join us for a meal tomorrow night? I am learning to cook and we would be happy to have you. You can see our domestic situation and we can watch amusing films."

"That is your choice. I am not concerned by gender. Outside of procreation it is irrelevant." Maybe it wasn't the most sensitive thing to say to a pregnant girl but Cas wasn't the most socially aware of beings.

"Yeah. What are hormones and why do we have them anyway? It's not like I needed to be procreating at my age." Juno wasn't the type to be easily offended. She had a habit of blurting out whatever was on her mind, herself.

I know you are far from home. I also know what that is like. You may call on Sam and I any time for assistance or company."

"Yeah, I guess she was," Juno said, "And I did get pregnant on the first and only time, which is almost as close as you can get to a virgin birth without divine intervention. Or artificial intervention. But yeah. Oops?" She shrugged. She was still conflicted about her own feelings on the pregnancy--and her feelings toward the baby's father--and the hormones didn't really help with that.

"I really appreciate you guys wanting to help us out," she said, rubbing her belly again. "Especially since I just showed up out of the blue. Steak and veggies sound great."

"Sam cares a great deal for you, and I believe I understand why. We have all been in that situation, being new here, only perhaps it is worse for you. Everyone here is a stranger. He could not leave you to your own devices, especially not considering and danger apparent at your arrival. I agree with him. You are also... interesting in your outlook. "I am glad, for your sake. This is not an easy thing you are doing. I understand you want your time to... play." You didn't spend as much time around teenagers as Cas had lately and miss their exuberant sense of fun and desire for pleasure (usually of the non-sexual kind. He hoped. He did not wish this difficult on another, even if may be the only chance he and Sam had of having a child.

"Do you think because you are young you have nothing to teach those older than you? Even Our Lord held children up as an example and I have much to lean about simply being human. It is not your taste to teach me but though contact with you I will learn much and this will help me greatly, even if I do not always like what he learn." There were some things he and Sam had had to deal with recently he was simply not going to talk about. There was something else he was getting from Juno. A purpose. A focus outside of his own problems. A distraction and he was desperate for those.

Like not having to pay my own bills on top of keeping my grades up. But Sam and Dean were good enough to offer me a job at their auto shop so I don't have to worry quite as much. Plus it gives them more time to focus on actually fixing the cars, if I can take care of answering phones and stuff."

Sam is vigilant, especially now..." Cas's voice trailed off a little. "But I will be helping.

Cas smiled a little at her obvious pride in herself. "We are both new at this but you have done very well. I will make the same attempt and, perhaps, we can both take pride on our achievements." "I like you guys," she said, "And I'll try to help out as much as I can. Even if it's just cleaning up the dishes afterward. Every little bit counts."

"You are welcome to contribute," Castiel agreed. "Whatever you feel comfortable with." Castiel was well versed in people who needed to pay their own way. It was a feeling he was starting to feel the pull of himself.

"We like you too, Juno," Castiel said. "And, while you are here, we will do what we can to ensure your distress is at a minimum." He really could only promise to try. He couldn't spare anyone, even himself. All of them could really only promise not to leave those they cared for to suffer alone and, as Cas had found, that was significant.

"Thanks, Cas," Juno said, smiling. She could tell he was trying his best, and that he was sincere, and she could appreciate that. "And, you know, feel free to pester me about baby stuff. I'm still figuring it out as I go along, but you might think of something that I haven't researched yet."

Stephen still wasn't entirely comfortable with crowds. He hadn't bothered with a costume either, because he'd never been much into fancy dress. He was wearing nice clothes, though, and he'd been more than happy to show up. Now, though, he stood outside with a couple of bottles of beer and watched what was going on inside. People came in and out, and he smiled and nodded to them all as they passed by.

Eventually, he ran out of beer, and he felt okay with being near people again, so he went back inside. He could be sociable, just wait and see. If he drank enough beer, he might even consider dancing with people.

Gabriel had been in attendance, dressed up as what most people would assume to be Zorro at first glance, but was actually the Dread Pirate Roberts, from Princess Bride, thanks to the fact that he'd worked a little angel mojo to change the Z to an R.

He'd been glad to see Castiel in attendance with Sam, and Jade there as well, on the arm of none other than Sherlock Holmes. But with so many unsavory beings in the city, he couldn't help but feel the need to be vigilant. Especially on All Hallow's Eve.
