Who: Arthur, Morgana and ~CRAZEH!~Uther
What: Lets get some truthiness up in here (aka. Merlin peeps love to spam your games. SORRY!)
When: Early Morning Sept. 19th
Where: Uther's room
Rating: Embarrassing
Status: Incomplete

Morgana was a woman and that was the first conclusion Arthur made that morning after opening his eyes. His hand was cramped and locked around his father's almost as if willing him to stay in his bed. Arthur's neck ached fiercely and spots had a merry dance in front of his eyes, but overall, Arthur felt rested. Something he couldn't say was true yesterday.

He stretched, rolling his shoulders and flexing his hands, both of them, before reaching to tuck his father and further before standing.

Morgana was sleeping on Uther's other side. Her head was resting beside Uther's arm and her mouth was parted slightly in sleep.

"Morgana. Get up."

Morgana had came because of Arthur but she would have been lying if she had said that there was no concern for Uther's well-being. Unlike with her reaction to Merlin's confession, her acknowledgement to what had hapened between herself and Uther back in Camelot was much, much less sharper. It was a resignatiion, a disappointment that he hadn't changed at all. However, she couldn't be angry because she had no knowledge of who this man Alvarr was. There was no sense of loss or betrayal.

They had been working on building their relationship, things had seemed for the better in her time.

Here ... not so much. However, Morgana had noticed how he had been trying and that mattered. Yes, she was angry over what he had done, how that affected Morgause. His never telling her of her sister. Nonetheless, none of that meant that she could be completely cold hearted over his illness.

"As charming as e - " Morgana stretched with a yawn. "Oh, thank God." She murmured. Only one day as a male and it had been enough. She had had her fun peeing while standing, s was over it.

"How's he -- " She paused looking at Uther, then looking back at Arthur.

"He's unconscious. Or asleep." Arthur covered his mouth with his forearm to hide his yawn and winced, pacing the length of the bed and coming around to Morgana's side. "He hasn't moved, Morgana. If he wasn't breathing I'd say he was dead."

He offered her a hand to help her stand. "I doubt he'll be going too far."

Morgana rolled her eyes at Arthur but she shot Uther a concerned expression. Turning to look for her shoes, she spotted Arthur's hand. She hesitated a moment before taking it. "Of course not. How did you sleep?"

"Not well," He tugged her to her feet, reaching with his other to steady her, "but that's still better than last night."

Arthur's brow furrowed. That was. Fine. That was an answer now he had to temper it. "Don't tell, Guinevere. She worries enough."

Morgana's brow quirked slightly at his confession. That was't at all what she expected. Twenty plus years of knowing arthur, nearly thirteen of actually living with him. She had been expecting some sort of battle to get half of what he'd just willingly told her.

Morgana nodded slowly. "I won't. However, perhaps you should let me stay with him tonight." Neither Mordred nor Morgause would like it but she couldn't, wouldn't, abandon Arthur - ever, let alone when he needed her. And Gwen really did worry enough.

"I'd like that." Right. Arthur sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Will you be fine if he wakes up? I should go and make sure Guinevere's awake."

They had an appointment that morning. It felt like they had one most mornings.

"No. I can't ... I can't stand to see him like that. Even though after all the things he's done I should feel .. " Morgana's eyes went wide. The only reason she had trailed off was because she didn't know quite ha s should feel not because she had regained control of her wayward tongue. "Arthur ... I --"

"God, Morgana-I. Fine. I'll stay. I've already seen it. Just go and tell Guinevere I'll meet here there."

Arthur's posture was stiff and unflinching even as his heart hammered angrily. This wasn't natural at all. No more than his father's condition was. Or them swapping their sex for a time. He didn't like this. He wanted to shout at someone but who was there to shout at.

He couldn't leave his father alone and Merlin was gone.

It was one of the rare moments that Morgana was completly and utterly at lost for words. That shouldn't have had happened. If anyone knew the importance of keeping their tongue in their mouth it was her. Morgana kept so many things close to her chest over the years, knew how to even keep the emotions off her face. What just happened ... she couldn't quite wrap her mind around what just had happened. Except anger. Anger at whoever was responsible for forcing her to speak words she didn't even want to acknowledge to herself, out loud.

"Arthur -- " Morgana started again. "I'll bring Gwen there and I'll find Merlin."

Arthur bowed his head under the crushing weight of holding his thoughts in place. He'd never felt exposed like that and it was, truthfully, not the most embarrassing admission he or Morgana had ever made but they were the least expected.

"I'll send you a message if anything changes."

It wouldn't be smart to leave him alone. Especially like this. However, there wasn't much of a choice unless she messaged Merlin to bring Gwen. That option, nevertheless, would involve leaving Gwen or Arthur - and possibly even Uther - unattended for a while. Just as much as Arthur'.

Morgana hesitated for a moment before placing a hand on his arm. "I can stay." The words were heavy on her tongue but she didn't give anything away. As she liked it.

He gazed up at her with a straight expression, trying to yank from her eyes what it was she really wanted. He knew. Of course he knew. He knew how strange and uncomfortable all of this was and how Morgana may care, but it wasn't the same or as deep as Arthur. Her affection for Uther was twisted but present.

"You should go. Guinevere would probably be happier with you there than me."

Uther had been sleeping, the deep, endless sleep of someone who's been through too much in too little time. And he didn't want to wake up. Something wasn't right, even as he dragged himself slowly back to consciousness, he could tell that. His heart ached, his stomach was twisting in on itself like it was full of snakes, and his thoughts seemed to skip between too quick and too slow. But he recognized his children's voices somewhere in the room, having a quiet, hushed conversation, and that seemed to kick start him.

Uther dragged his heavy eyelids open, staring around the bedroom which had come to be so familiar. "Arthur?" His voice was hoarse, cracking. "Morgana?" He struggled for a moment, his joints as stiff and sore as they always were first thing in the morning. The aging King propped himself up on his elbows, looking around. Then he remembered the day before, and his pale eyes widened.

"Ygraine."

Uther threw back the covers, feeling himself shiver against the sudden cold but not really noticing as he attempted to clamber to his feet. He needed to find her.

"That's a lie, Arthur. If anything she'll tells both not to worry and stay here." Recall Arthur that she knows both of you rather well. "Since someone should be with her, you can either send Merlin to meet up with her or you can do yourselves both a favor and go." Morgana had stood still when his gaze had searched hers and while she felt that he had found an answer that neither of them had truly wanted to recognize, Morgana wasn'tbudging.

Morgana stilled for a moment, a mix of emotions as her eyes fell upon him after he called her name. As soon as he said Ygraine's name, Morgana moved to his side. Hands shaking but calm, voice soothing. "Uther .." Sh started, uncertain of what to say.

"I won't-" Arthur moved back from the bed when his father stirred, watching him come awake with a worried, pained expression. For a moment, Arthur had hoped that-But no. He lurched after his father and caught him by the arm, shooting Morgana a desperate glance, uncertain what to do or how to explain that they weren't going to let him go out there.

"Father, you need to rest."

Arthur's hand closed around his elbow as Uther swayed a little on his feet. Uther turned to his son, looking into the face that, even male, reminded him so much of his late wife. "I'm fine," he told him, then, hearing how his voice shook, repeated himself. "I'm fine, Arthur. I just need to find your Mother."

After all, people from all times appeared here. Why not his wife? Uther tried to pull his arm from Arthur, glancing towards where Morgana stood a short distance away, silently pleading with her to tell the blonde man to let him go. Then something pale flashed behind her shoulder, a figure sat slumped at the table, and his heart hit the back of his throat.

Ygraine was sat there, her delicate frame slumped over the wood. She looked like she had last time Uther had seen her; Her skin pale and drawn over her skull. Her body, previously plump and glowing with pregnancy, was a bag of bones, as if she'd been deflated. Uther heard a hoarse, breathless cry escape his own lips, and pushed Arthur away, surging on unsteady feet into the next room.

She wasn't there.

Something broke in his chest, and he reached blindly back for the comfort of one of his children, his staring eyes still fixed wildly on the empty chair.

Morgana stepped even closer when Arthur looked at her, she didn't know what to say, so she sat next to Uther. It pierced her heart the way Uther looked at her. It did and yet at the same time she ... Morgana pushed that away and opened her mouth when she frowned. Her eyes following his gaze. There was nothing there. She wasn't certain if he ... Uther deflated but his eyes were still on the chair.

She looked toward Arthur for a moment, before she took Uther's hand in hers. "I'm sorry, Uther. I truly am." Her other hand very gently pushed him back. "You need to rest. Please. We'll be here. I promise." She reached a comforting hand gently over is brow, murmuring soothing words. While looking at Arthur, lost and uncertain. Though she had a clue. Oh, did she ever.

Some small hope-filled pool shattered in his chest, cutting his lungs and dragging the air from him as he grappled with his father, easing him downward with Morgana's help. Arthur swallowed around the lump lodged in his throat, searching Morgana's face for some sign on what to do now. They were not meant to deal with these problems. They weren't raised knowing how to handle this type of madness. Always they had walked a fine line with Uther but this was different. This felt like that line had been made of sewing thread and it was about to snap away beneath them.

It scared him.

Arthur managed to admit it, if only to himself, that this wasn't something he could charge at and fix. This was completely out of his hands.

"Father." Arthur moved in front of Uther and crouched before the chair, taking one of his hands and squeezing it. What else could he do?

Uther let himself be pushed back, sitting on the end of the bed so the mattress squeaked and sagged a little under his dead weight. Morgana's hand ran gently over his brow, crumpled now with a mixture of age and devastation, and Arthur's warm hand encased his.

What was happening to him? Uther's mind, once so cold and logical, was a chaotic whirl of emotion. He was sure he had seen her, could have sworn it in front of every council in every Kingdom, but she never stayed. Why didn't she ever stay? It was like someone was toying with him, giving him back the one thing he needed only to rip it brutally away again. Or perhaps she didn't want him any more... Why would she, after what he had done to her?

At the thought, and the cold arrow of truth that came with it, Uther's hand tightened a little around his sons. The old man forced himself to focus on Arthur's face, a tight, tired smile curling at the corner of his mouth for a moment. "She doesn't want to see me," he told him, his voice catching, but softer than it had been in a while. He looked over to Morgana. "That's why she doesn't stay."

He sighed, pulling away from Arthur and Morgana and lying back down on the bed. He lay on top of the blankets, his back to his children, and resisted the urge to hug his knees to his chest and cry.

Morgana looked at Arthur. Feeling completely and utterly helpless. What's more feeling guilty. And she hated it. Morgana knew who was behind Uther's current state or at least she had a clue. However, she did nothing and said nothing to stop it. Because the man deserved it. It should have been as simple as that and perhap if she were the Morgana that Merlin had poisoned then it would have been. This Morgana, however, she had come not only straight from a time where she had made peace with Uther but in this current time had both witness and appreciated the small efforts that he was making. He was trying. And she -- That meant nothing. That could not mean anything because as Merlin had said about herself, the second they were sent back home, he would do all of those horrible things and she would turn against him. Why delay the inevitable?

Morgana's heart squeezed in pain. Because she still cared for him very much. And it hurt her to see him like this. It hurt her to see Arthur seeing him like this.

She breathed in a sharp, shaking breath at his words.

Her eyes widening as she watched this broken man. The time she'd seen Uther's eyes wet were few and far between. The only time she'd see him cry earnestly was when Arthur had been hurt by the Questing Beast. This --

Morgana's hand reached out immediately and threaded with Arthur's.
