Who: Robin and Marian
What: Making up for crazy plot tiems
When: After Robin's work
Where: Their apartment
Status/Rating: Incomplete/TBA

Marian had a much better day today than she had the past few weeks. To have Robin back to normal, as normal as he could be that is, was a relief. More than a relief, actually. Spending days not knowing how he was going to be was murder and now that he seemed to remember the divorce requests as well as forgetting the requests, well, she was more than happy. And then she had had word of the job in the stables which she had enquired about. She wouldn't be starting with a lot of hours, they wanted to give her a trial period first, but it was enough to keep her happy. And it meant she could still do some classes or learn at home during the days she wasn't at work or at night.

Moving from the kitchen to the living room, she sat on the couch against the arm rest before laying her legs across the rest of the couch. Dinner was cooking, Robin's favourite for the first time in a while, so she just had to wait on that to be ready. Robin was due home any minute but she was allowed to rest whilst she waited. She had tidied up today as well as doing everything that they needed, such as the grocery shopping. Checking the time, she smiled before closing her eyes. She would hear the door open anyway.

The whole thing was bizarre. So bizarre, in fact, that it bordered on hilarious. In a hysterical sort of way. What on earth had happened? To think that his mind could have truly become so addled was absurd. And yet there was no other explanation. Still, it no longer mattered. He knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he was perfectly fine now. And no lasting damage had been done. They had both been upset, but it was nothing that could not be fixed.

As he opened the door to their apartment, the smell of roast beef and vegetables reached his nose. Marian knew that it was a favourite of his, and so seemed to use that to her advantage, only cooking it for him on rare occasions. Dropping his bag just inside the door, he smiled, seeing her laying on the couch with her eyes closed.

Leaning over the back of it, he kissed her nose before pulling back. "Hello gorgeous."

She heard the door but was too comfortable really to move. But then she felt his lips on her nose and a lazy smile rose on her features. This seemed better. Even when they argued she felt like things were safe and now that he seemed to be fine then she was more content. More at ease with everything. At the greeting, her smile grew wider and she opened her eyes.

"Hello handsome," she responded with a laugh, reaching up to push herself up to sit. "I only just sat down, you couldn't even give me five minutes."

She was teasing and she knew her tone would show that. Now that things were back to normal she was glad to have him back.

He hadn't realised just how much he had missed her laugh, until he heard it. There had been none of that over these last few weeks. Since their arrival in this place, he had grown rather accustomed to the sound. When she laughed, it lit up her whole face.

Grinning, he leaned down, resting his crossed arms on the back of the couch as he watched her. "Forgive me for the ill timed interruption. It would appear you've had a terribly trying day," he teased back. Now that she was sitting up he leaned over, kissing her properly.

It was the first time she had allowed herself to properly kiss him since all that hand happened and she automatically realised what a mistake that had been. Moving onto her knees on the couch, she wrapped her arms around his neck and responded with everything she had. She had missed this, she wasn't going to lie about that. They held each other at times, yes, but she couldn't remember the last time they properly shared a kiss.

Pulling back, she ran her hand down his cheek before kissing him softly. "I have. I had a house to tidy and dinner to make." Then she grinned, loosening her hold on him slightly. "And a job to accept."

She was still excited at the prospect of it.

He would have been surprised by the enthusiasm in her response to his kiss, but it had been far too long since they had done this, so he understood perfectly. His arms went around her, hands resting low on her back as her arms wrapped around his neck. Perhaps the loss of moments like this was the greatest loss caused by the strange happenings of the last few weeks.

He was going to tease about her tidying and cooking, when she went on to mention the acceptance of a job, and he could not help but grin right along with her.

"Where abouts?"

"Turns out there's stables near by. So I went along."

She couldn't imagine anything better than spending her days with the horses. She always had loved horses so it was an exciting prospect. It was one of the things she missed the most about home and when she found out about the stables she had found herself spending a lot of time there, especially recently with everything going on with Robin. She was just happen that it would appear they fell back into things quite easily.

"Just looking after horses, helping to teach others how to ride. Sounds perfect, doesn't it?"

"That was what I was talking about, the time I suggested we go for a ride. It never even occurred to me that you could get a job there." Moving around to her side of the couch, he sat beside her, turned toward her as he spoke.

"It does sound perfect." He couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm about it. "What better way for you to spend your time? You'll be an excellent teacher." And as for looking after the horses, there would be no one better than Marian.

"Well it occurred to me," she said with a laugh, moving to settle when he sat next to her. It really showed a lot about their relationship that they were already acting how they use to. Though maybe they were just trying to ignore what had happened. If she was honest she'd rather never think on it again.

"I wont be there a lot or the first few months, they want to watch how I do. But the hours I'm in will make it easy to still take any form of learning."

She was excited and she knew it was showing but she didn't care. She was finally gaining some of the independence back.

He laughed at that, slipping an arm around her and pressing a quick kiss to her temple. "That's because you're so clever," he teased. He almost added 'and the sane one of the two of us', but decided that it might be just a little too soon for those types of jokes yet. Maybe when things had been back to normal for a while longer, they could laugh about it.

"It won't take months, they'll figure out you're perfect for the job the first day, I'm sure."

She automatically curled up against him, smiling at the kiss. She probably shouldn't be acting so happy so soon, should they not discuss what had happened? But maybe Robin didn't want that. She wasn't going to talk about it unless he did. Grinning at his compliment, she nuzzled his chest on instinct.

"I doubt that," she said quietly. She knew enough abbout horse but she still had some things to learn about how to work with so many now.

"You doubt it?" He looked down at her, surprised. "Since when do you doubt your way with horses? They'll love you. Guaranteed." Giving her a quick squeeze he got to his feet, holding out a hand to her.

"I can't ignore that smell of your cooking any longer. Let's have dinner."

"Well it's different now, and there are more of them."

She watched as he stood, taking his hand straight away. She was glad he had such faith in her. She knew she had little to worry about but she still did. She wanted something like this, to work with horses, and to have that job offered to her made her put a lot of pressure on herself. Standing, she squeezed his hand.

"I wondered how long it would take you to say that. It should nearly be ready anyway."

"Horses are still horses, that hasn't changed. Don't start talking yourself out of your own capabilities. They wouldn't have given you a trial in the first place if they didn't think you had something."

He grinned unashamedly when she said she wondered how long it would take him to mention it. "What can I say? I appreciate good cooking," he said with a cheeky grin before letting go of her hand and walking in to the kitchen. He opened the fridge, deciding on something to drink.

She smiled a little, looking down at that. It was right, she knew she was good with horses so she had no reason to doubt herself. Glancing up at him, she gave him a slight smile. He knew that she would be okay and she would be, especially if he believed in her.

"Well my cooking is actually not too bad at times," she said in response to his comment with a grin. Checking on the food, she set two plates out when she noticed that it still needed a couple of minutes. Watching Robin, she smiled softly before putting a hand on his back, angling her head for a kiss.

He tapped a finger under her chin so she would look up, winking when she finally did. She knew he was serious, and she should also know that it was the truth. In fact, he was sure she did. She just had to stop herself from worrying needlessly.

"No, it's not too bad," he conceded. "Maybe you should give me a go some time." With his job, it had always been Marian cooking dinner, because it had just made sense that way. "Who knows, maybe now that you've got a job, I can start working less, eventually quit...get some more leisure time," he said with a grin, turning his head to kiss her before pulling a bottle of wine from the fridge.

Her smile for wider when he winked at her, laughing softly as she shook her head. She raised her eyebrow when he offered to cook, giving him a feigned shocked look. She couldn't recall a time he had made a proper meal, it was just more convienient for her to do so. She couldn't respond before he kissed her and it was almost a distraction until he pulled the wine from the fridge. Moving back to the cooking food, she started to plate everything up.

"I doubt you would give up a job, Robin," she said with a smile. He would hate not being busy.

"Hey," he protested at the false look of shock on her face. "I can cook." Shutting the fridge, he set the wine on the bench before opening a cupboard to get two glasses, placing them beside it. As he shut the door again, he turned back to face her, watching her plate up the food.

"For all you know that is exactly what I will do. In fact, the more I talk about it, the more appealing it is sounding." It wasn't true in the slightest, though he wouldn't mind starting to look for something different. He was utterly bored with his current one.

"Then feel free to prove it one day," she said with a grin. She wouldn't mind if he did or did not, she wasn't going to make him prove such a thing. It was all just simple teasing. But if he wanted to she wasn't going to stop him. She wasn't the type of wife who did not allow her husband to do what he wanted in the household, especially the things that use to be considered as only the female's job back home.

"You would grow restless, my love. You do not do well with little to do," she told him as she put the plates of food with the wine. Smiling, she ran her hand up his back and along his shoulders. "But whatever keeps you happy."

"I'm not sure that's the best idea. You'll love it, and then you'll be asking me to cook dinner all the time. I'd hate to deprive you of the joy it brings you," he grinned mischievously. Just like she was teasing, so was he. He'd be more than willing to cook every now and then, especially when she was working.

He suppressed a laugh at her observation. It was definitely accurate, there would be no point denying that. He grinned when she ran her hands up his back. "As wonderful as all these distractions from you are, my love, I thought we might manage to get the food to the table in order to at least pretend we were going to eat it."

"Oh you are just too kind but really, feel free to prove it any time you wish."

Marian grinned when he claimed she was trying to use distractions on him when, if she was honest, she hadn't intended it as such. Well not a huge distraction anyway, mostly just giving in to the need to touch him again. Nuzzling his neck, she giggled softly before pulling back. Now he mentioned distractions they seemed the better idea but after the three weeks they had she really would like to actually have a nice meal with him.

"Fine. You are such a spoilsport," she teased before lifting the plates to the table, letting Robin get the wine and glasses.

"No need to tell me that. But, all right, since you insist. Perhaps once or twice."

He shot her an amused look at the giggle before picking up the wine and glasses and following her through to place everything on the table, sitting at the table adjacent to her. "I am not a spoilsport. I'm hungry," he laughed. "I'm all for distractions after dinner. You should distract me when you haven't just cooked something that smells so good," he smirked.

"I'll remember that."

She smiled as he sat next to her, laughing when he claimed to be hungry. Fine he could eat and she would stop with the distractions, at least for a moment. If her hand or foot wandered during the meal then it wouldn't be her fault.

"Well next time something bad happens I will make sure I distract you," she said with a gri before pouring the wine. "On you go then, if you're so hungry."

"Of that, I have no doubt."

He gave her a somewhat bemused look when she told him to go ahead if he was hungry."You wouldn't be trying to rush me by any chance, would you?" Once he had asked, he tried some of what she had cooked, and gave her a purposefully exaggerated grin of appreciation. "Delicious."

He hadn't missed her mention of distracting him if something bad happened. As he set his knife and fork down on the plate between mouthfuls, he met her gaze. "Do you want to talk about what happened?"

"Why would I have reason to rush you?" She laughed and kicked him lightly at the exaggerated look on his face, taking a bite of her own herself. She had never been the best cook in the world but she was happy with what she could do. And the time she had free before now had occasionally been spent practicing things like various meals.

But then his eyes were on hers and her movements stilled. No, she really did not want to talk about it when she was trying to forget. But if he had brought it up perhaps it was something he needed to discuss and if that was what he wanted then she would be willing to attempt to talk it through.

"Do you think we have to talk about it?"

"I have no idea," he laughed, pulling his leg away from her kick with a mock wounded look. "But most likely, because you can't wait to distract me again." He gave her a little grin over his wine glass before taking a sip.

At her question, he set his glass down. "I don't think there is anything much to say. I got the impression earlier that you might have wanted to. I also get the feeling that it was simply this place...doing what it does. And so was out of your control, and mine too."

"So confident."

She nodded, glancing down at her plate for a moment. She didn't know what she wanted to say about it anymore, now that things were better. She just wanted everything to start to go back to normal so she didn't have to worry anymore.

"I do not like that," she said quietly when he mentioned control.

"Did you honestly expect anything different?"

He watched her as she looked down at her plate, nodding when she spoke. He could understand that, he did not much care for it either. Being out of control of your own thoughts, of your own mind, was a terrifying thought. But they had gotten through it. As they would again, if something else happened.

"Not really, no."

How could he be so sure things would be. There were so many things this place could throw at them and although that would never stop how much she loves him she did not want to go through another week of constant arguments.

"I hope so," she told him before taking a sip of her wine.

"That's one thing taken care of then." Reaching across the table, he took her free hand, looking over at her.

"Marian, you need to stop worrying. If we can get through what happened, we can get through anything. It's like we've always said, we're in this together." Giving her hand a quick squeeze he let it go again, picking up his wine and drinking some.

Her gaze finally fell on him again at the touch of his hand, her fingers instantly curling around his. It was strange what just his hand holding hers could do for her, make things easier some how. Smiling softly, she returned the squeeze and watched him as he took some of his wine.

"I love you," she eventually said after searching for what she wanted to say. But clearly that was all that was needed at that particular moment. "And you're right. We're in this together."

They always knew they could do anything as long as they had each other, so she just had to hope that this place didn't think it fun to split them apart.

"You were the one who asked about talking," she teased softly.

How was he able to tell her thoughts with so much ease now? She use to be able to guard them from him whenever she wanted and now he appeared to know them the moment she thought them. After looking at him for a moment, she leaned over the small table and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips.

"Mostly because I was under the impression you would decide not to," he teased in return.

Grinning, he returned her kiss. Things were becoming just a bit more serious than he had intended. Now that things had returned to normal, he wanted things to be a bit more relaxed and light hearted. Who knew how long this would last?

"We're agreed then. We don't let each other go, we eat dinner...and then you distract me."

"Because we don't always have to talk. Not all the time."

She didn't want to pull back from the kiss but their dinner was getting cold so she knew she should pull back. When she did eventually leave his lips she really did not trust the look on his face. His words proved that she was right not to trust him. Laughing softly, she rolled her eyes playfully.

Once he was able again, he continued. "You were right. We don't always need to talk. And that's a good thing. Because there are some things that talking won't help. What just happened being a good example of that."

Nodding, she bit her lip before taking a sip of her wine. Yes, what just happened was certainly something they didn't have to discuss. She was perfectly happy to ignore that occasion.

"As a compliment and sign of appreciation for all of your hard work, Marian," he joked. "And it is delicious." He equally liked and hated it when she bit her lip that way. Mostly, because she looked gorgeous when she did it, but because he hated seeing her anxious enough to do it in the first place.

She grinned when he sat back, but did not move his leg once. Good, then perhaps she was doing something right. She was just glad that is closeness at the small table enabled her the chance to do this without stretching her leg too much.

He raised an eyebrow as her foot trailed higher, almost daring her in the expression. He was willing to bet she'd done it without thinking, and so was amused to see just how far she would take it.

"That isn't something you can persuade me to do, Marian. You tried to change what you'd said about not talking.. It doesn't work that way," he said with a grin, spearing a piece of food on his fork and eating it.

She followed suit and took a bite of her own food, taking a sip of wine after. She had seen that look and she was very much up for the challenge. But she wasn't going to do so straight away so simply continued moving her foot up and down his calf. Placing her wine back on the table, she gave him a small smile.

"I think there's still some ice cream left if you're still hungry when you've finished that," she told him as she took another bite.
