Who: Sirius Black and Baby James James Sirius Potter
What: A meeting of generations
When: Mid- morning
Where: Building D
Rating: TBD.
Status: Incomplete.

Sirius woke up sprawled in a quite undignified manner on top of his bed, the blankets wrapped so tightly around his long body it was rather like being in a straight jacket. As he dragged himself reluctantly back to the land of the living, a sudden, unexpected wave of claustrophobia crashed over him, and he flailed, struggling to free himself. He hadn't been a fan of enclosed spaces since Moony had shared the news of his future to him. Sitting on the edge of the bed, fingers curling around the mattress, Sirius took a moment to breathe, staring vaguely at his feet before taking a final lungful of air and pushing himself up off the bed. He found that if he thought too much at the moment, it tended to put a dampener on his good mood...

Loping elegantly into the main room, Sirius paused to bring the flat of his hand down on a battered radio, which coughed and spluttered dangerously into life, pumping some cheesy pop song into the morning air. Sirius seemed to consider the kitchen for a moment, before scoffing and turning to the window, where a full ashtray and a half finished box of cigarettes rested temptingly. He'd promised Lils he'd quit once the baby was born, and although she and Prongs seemed under the impression that that was, well, now, Padfoot himself maintained that until he'd seen the kid, it didn't count. So he slid the window open, cigarette dangling comically from his lips, and shoved his head out. Automatically, he scanned the pavement below for his bike. A rogue fly zipped across the room as Sirius noticed something.

There was someone looking at his beautiful, perfect motorbike. Well, at least they had taste. But if they touched it he would, sadly, be forced to hex them.

Sirius frowned, plucking the unlit cigarette from his lips and staring down, bottom lip caught between his teeth. From this distance, it was hard to tell, but it looked an awful lot like... A wide, wicked grin cracked the young man's features, and a moment later he had slammed the window closed and was bounding down the stairs towards the street, forcing his head through a t-shirt as he jumped the last five steps and all but exploded out onto the street. Bloody Potters. Honestly. They were breeding like rabbits. And people had said he was the one with the raging libido...

"Alright?" Sirius drawled, grin fixed firmly in place as he came up behind the newcomer. One dark, arching eyebrow lifted a fraction. "See anything you like?" He realized he was still absently spinning the unlit cigarette between his fingers.

To say that James was in a mood would be an understatement. James had fully passed 'mood' after viewing the first Harry Potter a few days ago. While he was no longer as hex-happy as he had felt when watching it; he was still very much stuck on brooding. He was stuck here. He had missed his concert. He had missed his dad's birthday. He was going to miss his Mum's and uncle Percy's. And yesterday had been his. It had gone by without a single well wishing. Oh, sure he had just technically recently turned twenty-one in his own time line, as it'd been September. Yet that wasn't the point. The point was that no one had remembered.

He had managed to take comfort from having one of his guitars here with him and eating pie. There had been a lot of pie eating the past couple of days.

Despite how well deserved his pouting was, James had never been one who liked to stay in a brooding funk for very long. He ended up pushing himself to explore the city he didn't want to be in at all. Looking for a distraction and finding it in the sight of a motorbike.

James had always found them to be badass. Even going through a very brief phase of wanting one when he had been much younger. Upon sighting it, he couldn't help approaching it and taking a better look. He didn't dare touch it, of course. People thought he was crazy for the amount of care that he gave to his instruments, to objects but James could automatically noticed and appreciate the same amount of care given to something else. This bike, clearly meant something to someone.

He had been quite a respectable distance from it when someone came up behind him and startled him. James scowled slightly and turned around, narrowing his eyes at the other male. Something vaguely familiar about him caused his expression to soften just a bit, but irritation still managed to be spread across James' face. It was on the tip of his tongue to say no; however, the vehicle didn't deserve insult just because it's owner was tetchy. To be fair, James would have reacted the same way if someone had hovered around something that he cared about.

Which was why James nodded, slightly. "Yeah. She's beautiful."

Yup. Definately a Potter. He had a look of James about him. Well, James when he was doing his best not have have a 'moment' and slap his best friend about the head with a broomstick. Sirius felt a grin worm his way onto his face, wide and slightly smug, before he nodded and approached the newcomer, coming to stand at his side and stare down at the fine piece of machinery with the air of a proud parent. Merlin, he loved that bike. On the day he had roared with into into the Potters drive, he had announced wouldn't even need to have kids now. Something he still stuck to. If he wanted baby sick down his back, he'd just spend an evening with the Sprog. Or Teddy.

Spinning on his heel (he suddenly realized he'd forgotten shoes.) Sirius turned his examination instead on the new boy. Not much different in age to himself, with dark hair that fell towards his collar and a slightly grumpy expression, there was definately a sense of his best friend about him. Perhaps even a hint of James' Father somewhere. Sirius' grin widened. "You're a Potter!" he announced, in a tone that almost hummed with energy and curiosity. A moment later a long fingered, elegant hand was being shoved under the strangers nose. "I'm Sirius. Which one are you?"

He paused, a thoughtful expression crossing his face as his stomach gave a rumble. Abandoning the attempted handshake in favor of more pressing matters, the animagus shoved the cigarette into his mouth, where it wriggled comically. Sirius patted down his pockets, realized he'd left his wand in the flat, and rolled his eyes.

James' eyes narrowed slightly as he watched the owner of the bike warily. He still had that pesky sense of familiarity. That he knew this man or that he should, that he had seen him before. Nevertheless that was being ridden by a sense of caution. Why the bloody hell was he looking at him like that?

His question was answered soon enough by the explanation, although it did nothing to stamp away the suspicion. What with the bloody books floating around and people having had read them and seen the films. This man could be anyone. This man could be -- Sirius Black!? James swallowed. A various amount of emotions flashed over his face. Bloody hell. Before he controlled them into a neutral expression, holding out his own hand to shake Sirius'. Barely even blinking at the way Sirius shoved his hand in his face. "James. M'name's James Potter."

Sirius, however, was already removing his hand.

Right. That wasn't strange at all.

The rumbling of Sirius' stomach caught James' attention, and despite himself his lips quirked. He watched as Sirius patted himself down for a moment, before sticking his hand in his own pocket. Out he pulled, with a moment's hesitation, was a bag of crisps. "Think fast." He said, his only warning before chucking it at Sirius.

"James?" Sirius' face registered mild surprise, and one hand flew to smooth back his hair from his forehead. Quickly, he forced himself to remember the conversations he'd had over the PDA, until he finally stumbled across something. "You're Al's brother!" he announced, and once again it wasn't a question. A grin ripped his features. "Sprog's kid. Named after me and Prongs right? You lucky thing."

Then a packet was flying through the air, and Sirius started just in time to catch it against his chest. Glancing down, clasped between the cage of his fingers was a packet of crisps, and his stomach gave another pleading rumble. "Cheers." Smirking up at the other man, Sirius ripped the bag open and plucked the waiting cigarette from his mouth, tucking it neatly behind his ear, between locks of long dark hair. As he chewed on the crips, Sirius titled his head, suddenly looking a little canine as he examined the newcomer.

"You look a bit Potterish. Managed to escape the appauling eyesight though? Prongs is a blind as a flobberworm in the dark without his glasses. It's bloody hilarioius. Once he ran stright into the Ravenclaw hourglass." He swallowed, hesitating before offering over the bag of crisps as an afterthought. "Guess I popped my clogs before you got the chance to meet me? Shame. It could have been a beautiful friendship."

It was easier to make jokes.

A slightly bemused smile twitched at the corners of James' mouth. He had to still the, Of course, that wanted to tumble out of his mouth. Given his current mood he was quite pleased with himself that he managed to do so. So pleased that he didn't frown the way he tended to whenever people told him just how 'lucky' he was to be named after Sirius Black and James Potter. It wasn't as if he didn't know it. That he didn't try not to shame being named after two war heroes who were important to his dad. It was simply that it because bloody tiring - among other things - when you were reminded of it, every single moment. Compared as, expected to be, and dismissed as a lesser copy of two larger-than-life individuals. Really, it would have broken down men with lesser egos than James Sirius Potter.

However, he was still mentally patting himself on his wonderful tactfulness -- because really, who else's brother would he be? There were only three of them ... unless Sirius was thinking every Potter ever because of that weird time thing which only just served to make James' head hurt -- which was why he didn't scowl and instead answered, "Yes. Yes. And yes." Because really, what else would he say? The man was a bit ... energetic. People tended to say he was "energetic". In the sense that they meant something else that James didn't really bother figuring out. However, James didn't think he was as "energetic" as Sirius. The man was a bit odd. He could tell that already, which actually turned James' smile into one of amusement. Because James was quite found of his own quirks. They made him unique. Quirks were definitely acceptable. Even when they had your ... grandgodson looking at you like you'd lost a very vital marble.

James couldn't help grinning at the mention of the bad eyesight, though there was a bit of a mental wince of sympathy for his grandfather. "It skipped me and LilsLu. Al got it all." The look, the hair, the glasses, the skinnyness. Everything. James mostly had the hair when he cut his. Refusing to like flat just like a Potters.

"Only after mum set you straight about what you couldn't do." James' grin widened. His mum was fucking scary when she wanted to be. "Though I reckon that wouldn't have stopped you for long."

"Poor kid," Sirius grinned. "Doesn't stand a chance." But it was said warmly, a fond note tinting his voice. Sirius had always been closer to a Potter than a Black. Even before he'd turned up on Prongs' doorstep the summer before sixth year, he'd been happier at that house than he'd ever been when living in Grimmuld Place.

"My reputation proceeds me." The animagus grinned wickedly, his eyebrows suddenly wiggling quite independently of each other. Still, James' next comment made him laugh, head falling back for a moment so he could glance up at the pale sky. His window was still open. Sirius droped his gaze. "Your mum's a Weasley, right? Or... was. Whatever. I'll make a mad guess and say she's one of Arthur's?"

In his hand, Sirius crumpled the now empty crisp packet into a ball, hiding it in his fist as he spoke. He glanced back up at his open window, lifting a hand to shield his eyes. "You don't have a wand on you, do you Prongslet?"

After all, he couldn't go around calling everyone James. It was bloody confusing enough here as it was.

James' mouth quirked slightly. "He does alright." Which was really all he would say on the matter, because it would upset the balance. And then James would feel odd and out of sorts. Not actively harassing his brother or disagreeing with him, tended to put the world on opposite rotation. Nevertheless, Al was his brother. And ... he did do more than alright. You know. For Al. So long as he never found out that James had sorta complimented him, all would be right with the world.

"Something like that." James said with a chuckle. "Nana likes to mutter about 'That Sirius Black ...' and McGonagall sure still has a few things to say about your antics." However, his Nana still tended to tear up whenever she thought about him and both women spoke of his antics with fondness. However, for the moment James didn't say that. "Yeah, she was. His youngest, only girl of seven. And with Nana for a mum .. " James' own smile became extremely fond. "She'd have had you sorted out before you even considered popping your head through the door."

"Don't call me that." James said, his mood damning slightly. Nevertheless he pulled out his wand. "What do you need?"

"Awwwwwh!" Sirius exclaimed, twisting around from examining his open window to flash a handsome grin in the new Potters direction. Then he turned back, speaking even as she squinted against the morning sunshine. It was unnaturally bright for this time of day. Or maybe that was just him. "Good old Minnie... Of course, ours was a love that could never be. Didn't want to make Sluggy jealous. He may have killed me with his moustache."

What was he talking about? Even he didn't know any more.

Sirius smiled as James mentioned the Weasleys. He was related to them, in some distant, far-off manner that didn't really count. Sirius was related to bloody everyone if you traced the tree back far enough. It was a wonder his family weren't all inbred with webbed feet. "He has more?!" he checked, eyebrows vanishing somewhere into his fringe. "Blimey. Last I heard he'd just had twins and Molly was expecting another."

The complaint only caused a brief flash of amusement in Sirus' dark eyes, and he directed a puppy dog gaze and a slight pout towards his best friends grandson. "Why not? It's a compliment. I can't call you James number two, or mini-James. That would be ridiculous." He stepped back, nodding to the window. "Couldn't summon my wand down, could you? And my bike keys... And some shoes." On the pavement, Sirius' socks were making an impressive attempt at picking up all the dirt in the city.

James noticed Sirius' squinting and a brief sympathetic expression washed over his face. He missed British weather. Badly.

"McGoogles and Slughorn? Are you out of your bloody mind? Man would have had a better chance with Filch and I'm still rather certain that Filch doesn't like human beings in general." James liked Slughorn during school. Even though he was a Slytherin. The man had good taste in people - for the most part - after all Slughorn had thought his mum brilliant and had also loved having James in his class.

"Nana Molly and Grandpa Arthur have two more after the twins. Uncle Ron and then my mum."

The puppy dog eyes and pout did nothing in James. For two reasons. One not many people could win James over with said look because of, Two, James tended to believe that his was better than most everyone else's anyway. "Because I'd rather you not." There would have been issues if he'd called him mini-James and he managed to relax slightly a bit more around serious just because he hadn't. A crooked smile even came with his words. "All that?" He quirked his eye brow in a way that was reminiscent to his mother. "Alright then." Crooked smile growing, James Accio'd one by one each item. He was great at Charms, he could proudly say, however, he didn't know who was in the way of an object. From what he could tell most people here knew about the "fictional" thing, but that didn't mean they'd be expecting a pair of flying keys. It would be irresponsible of him to take more than that could be ducked and smacking someone with a pair of shoes and then some keys.

Sirius snorted at the nickname, a wide, genuine grin cracking his handsome features as he beamed across at the latest Potter. He liked him, he decided, and once Sirius decided he liked you you were more or less safe. If the eldest Black brother decided he didn't like you... well, that was where the problems started. "Slughorn and Filch..." he repeated, thoughfully. Then his brain decided to throw up a rather vivid mental image, and Sirius winced. He had always got the impression in lessons that Sluggy regretted the fact that Sirius hadn't been sorted into Slytherin. He probably would have loved to have all the Blacks in his house. "Bloody hell. Imagine it. Filch would probably dress him up as a cat. That man is exceptionally odd."

Moments later, Sirius's possessions were whizzing towards him. With a grin, the young man caught his wand, shoved it into his back pocket along with the keys, then dodged just in time to stop himself getting a battered pair of trainers in the face.

"Cheers." Sirius loped elegantly to the bike, plonking himself down on the leather seat to stuff his feet into them, not bothering with the fraying laces as he glanced back to the newcomer. Dark hair fell into his eyes and he smoothed it back carefully before leaning forward to speak, long fingers curling absently around one handlebar.

"So tell me, Prongslet..." He was momentarily distracted by a girl walking along the pavement on the other side of the road, grinning smoothly as she glanced in the boys direction before his attention was completely back on James. His features were completely Sirius serious, although amusement glinted in his eyes. "What do you think of the band known as the Buzzcocks? Think carefully about your answer, because I do not want to explain to Prongs that I had to maim you."

"Don't thi - " James was about to warn the other man not to think too hard about it when he mentioned dressing up Slughorn as a cat. James began thinking of those fat, white furred cats. With the foofy tails and went about like they were all-important. Except this one was ridiculously fat and looked like Slughorn and had an added Filch cooing at it. "Argh!" He said, "Bloody hell. Now I'll have to bleach my brain. He probably would." James said the last three words half-in-laughter and half-in-disgust.

"You're welcome." James said, although his attention was now throwing a sweeping glance at the bike. It really was a beautiful vehicle.

"Don't call m - ... " James too was momentarily distracted by the passing female. Watching her go about in appreciation. There was a lot of appreciation coming from James. For the bike. The female. He nearly, nearly mind you, forgot what he was going to say. "Don't call me that." However, he couldn't even properly scowl, because his mouth was quirking up in a curious and slightly confused expression. Before he grinned. "Reckon you don't mean the old telly show, 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks'." Oh, yeah, James was all full of jokes. "As if you could maim me." He snorted, all pride, all Gryffindor. Before shrugging. "Never been too wild about punk."

Sirius grinned as James once again fought against his new nickname, reaching absently up to pluck his cigarette from behind his ear and clamping it between his lips. There was no use arguing - Peter hadn't exactly been pleased with 'Wormtail' when it had first been thought up, and he hadn't managed to shake it. At the thought of his old friend, Sirius's stomach clenched uncomfortably for a moment. Extracting his wand from his back pocket, he used it to light the cigarette in his mouth as the anger passed.

"Never whatsit the Buzzcocks?" Sirius frowned, speaking around the stick of tobacco stuck between his teeth. Then he pulled it out, exhaling a cloud of smoke to one side, away from the latest Potter and into the morning air. He smirked as he did so. "I could maim you beyond recognition, young man." Turning back, a vaguely annoyed expression crossed his features, before one brow rose elegantly and the smile was back. If there was one thing Sirius loved, (apart from his friends, bike and a thousand other things) it was seventies muggle punk music, blasted at a volume loud enough to make his Mother scream at him.

"Maybe you just haven't heard enough?" he offered. "I've heard some of your strange 21st century music since I've been here. I felt violated. I had to take a shower." He grinned widely, before leaping to his feet. Sirius never sat too still for long. He cocked his head in a way that was slightly canine. "You want breakfast? I need breakfast."

James was passing through his hair and he frowned, having to do a double take when a look passed over Sirius' face. James might have been obtuse when it came to certain emotions - anything beyond high time euphoria - but he didn't always lack in observation skills. Something was upsetting his ... grand-godfather or some such. "'S gonna give you wrinkles." He gestured aimlessly at the cigarette with a quirk of his mouth.

"Never Mind the Buzzcocks." James said, grinning widely now. "You could try" The maddingly mad, wide grin remained in place, and in fact it even grew under the face of Sirius annoyance. "But I doubt you'd have much success." He waits a beat before continuing, "Old man."

"I've heard enough." Believe him, he had and it just never really floated his boat. He liked the Sex Pistols alright. They were okay. And not just mostly for their name. And of course, he enjoyed Billy Idol. Then again Billy was a lot of hard rock ... and new wave. Punk, in and of itself, just never tended to be his cuppa. Snorting, James continued. "You're assuming that's all I listen to. 'Sides. Reckon you're listening to the wrong things, mate. Creed's rather brilliant and I'm a fan of their guitar intros." Especially in 'One Last Breath'.

"Well," Sirius retorted quickly. "At least I know they won't kill me." As if to prove a point, he took another deep drag on the cigarette, before plucking it once again from his mouth. "I'm said I'd quit now Sprog.. your Dad's been born, anyway. I promised Lily." He held the cigarette in front of him, watching the way the tip smoldered a bright amber, even in the sunlight, following the coil of smoke that drifted lazily upwards.

He glanced back up sharply, taking in the wide grin gracing James' features before allowing his own to grow. "I am in the first flushes of youth!" he loudly announced, bouncing to his feet with enough energy to prove himself, striking a dramatic pose. "In my prime. You wait. Me and Prongs are gonna show your generation exactly what you missed out on. And Moony, if I can peel him away from my cousin. Together the Marauders... Oh shit."

He allowed his slightly mad gesture to be ruined somewhat when the cigarette fell to the floor, going out and smoldering gently against the leaves and cast off chewing gum. Sirius looked down mournfully, only half listening to James' music rant. "Right. Well, you'll have to educate me. We need to go to the shop. You want to ride bitch?"

Sirius swung one long leg over the bike, slapping the flat of his hand on the saddle behind him to indicate it to James. He smirked teasingly. "I promise I won't take advantage. I'm not that kind of girl."

"Might yellow your teeth, however. I'm certain that would go over very well with the birds. Along with the cigarette smoke." James made a face at the cigarette, a face that turned slightly into a bemused expression. At the mention of his father. As if it wasn't so weird already. Just the mention of his dad as a baby. It was odd just to think about.

Whatever James had been going to say in retort to Sirius being in his "prime" and such rubbish was cut off by the cigarette falling. James couldn't help but laugh at the other's misfortune. Or look a bit smug. Served him right, really. And in James' opinion, Sirius could have done with being a bit smooth. That flub deserved a bit of mocking, yet not cruelly ... more teasing, laughter.

The laughter managed to die off rather quickly, however. "Excuse me? You want me to ride ... what?"

Clearing his throat discretely, James gave Sirius an odd look. He had a feeling that would be not uncommon throughout this relationship. James' eyes slid to the saddle and he rolled his eyes. "Not that it would matter. You're just not my type, mate."

Sirius' arched eyebrows quirked upwards questioningly as the new Potter looked at him like he'd just danced out of the sea. Sirius was used to odd looks. Sirius' life was made up of a series of odd looks. Moony could actually do an odd look in his sleep, he was so well practiced. So he smirked, the corners of his mouth curling habitually as he waited for an answer, fingers coiling tightly around the handlebars of the bike.

"I'm everyone's type," He grinned. It had been said before that Sirius' ego, if properly harnessed, could power cities. Combine him with James and it was remarkable they could walk under bridges. "Come on," he turned away, his attention flickering onto the bike until the engine gave a guttural, animalistic roar. Then he smirked at the new arrival. "It won't kill you."

Then again, James Sirius Potter hadn't yet experienced Sirius' driving. Especially when he was in pursuit of nicotine and caffeine.

"No. Truly. You aren't my time. I like my blokes less related to me. Not to mention less addicted to cigarettes and better looking." James smirked as he slid into his seat. Yet not better looking that James himself was. Or else that would cause major issues. In all seriousness.

"If it does, I can always come back and haunt you." He returned with a shrug. James imagined that he would make a very vengeful ghost. The type that was impossible to rid oneself of.

"Pfft," Sirius scoffed, though he couldn't help but feel pleasantly pleased by the fact that his new Prongslet felt they were related. After all, there was no blood there, at least apart from some Potter who had married his great great grandfather or something. But Harry must have liked him quite a lot then, for his son to say that. Good. That was good.

"Whatever you say Prongslet," he grinned, scooting forward a bit to allow him room on the leather saddle. "Like previous generations, you will come to love me for my humor and charm." He flashed the man his trademark slow grin, "You don't really have much choice in the matter." Then, before his companion could come back with a reply, Sirius pushed on the gas, making the engine scream and sending the bike roaring down the street. Just before they reached the corner, the machine pitched upwards, and vanished up into the cloud.
