Characters: James and Lily Potter Date: July 27 Location: The Library and the streets of Colligo Summary: Lily arrives. James has some explaining to do. Status: In Progress Warnings: TBD
James closed the PDA after messaging his wife, his heart thudding steadily on in his chest. It had only been a couple of days since he'd last seen Lily and Harry, just a handful of hours, but the ache their absences had left echoed on through every single inch of him. They were more than just his family, they were part of him, literally a part of him, even more so than Remus and Sirius and (he'd thought) Pete. He was lost without them.
Lily was here now, though, and from the way things had sounded in her comments... It sounded like she'd been pulled from that night. The night they died. The night that Pete betrayed them, practically gift wrapped and waiting for the Dark Lord. Maybe she'd been "collected" just a handful of milliseconds from the end of her life.
That thought nearly sent James to his knees as he walked down the street, heading toward the library. Life without Lily wasn't any kind of life at all, in his opinion. But, also based on what she'd said and on what Remus had told him over the network the other night (he had yet to see the werewolf in the flesh, something he'd have to remedy eventually), James had a feeling he wasn't ever going to have to face that option. She'd said she thought he was dead. Chances were, he was.
He sighed, pulling his glasses off his face so he could squeeze the bridge of his nose. "Just keep it together, Jamie," he muttered, squeezing his eyes shut for just an instant. "Gotta get Lily, bring her back to the flat, and tell her about it all. Just for tonight, keep it together."
