WHO: Guinevere and OPEN
WHAT: Trying to fight off the heat
WHEN: Late Afternoon
WHERE: The Lake
STATUS: Incomplete

She probably should just head home but the lake had called to her as she walked past. It was cool, at least, and would provide some comfort from the heat for a little while. Though she wasn't exactly going to jump right in, even sitting by it would provide a little bit of relief. Walking past the other people in the park, she found a tall tree overlooking the lake and sat with her back against it, the branches and leaves providing protection from the sun. Though that didn't mean she was taken away from the unbearable heat. Closing her eyes, she rested her head against the tree trunk before opening her eyes.

Slipping her shoes off, she found herself extrememly happy for the foresight of wearing a slightly floaty dress. It gave her less restriction and still kept her covered, making it easy for her to slip her feet in the water. The coolness made her shiver as she felt the water cover up to her calves. Smiling, she dropped her head back again and once again closed her eyes, her hand resting slightly by her stomach. She could hear the noise of people around her but she was quite content staying like this.

A handsome young man, with elegant, aristocratic features, dressed in a black t-shirt and dark jeans, Sirius Black loped easily around the park he'd stumbled across. He moved with his hands shoved deep into his pockets, gaze fixed stubbornly on the floor. He'd been in this place for... barely any time at all. He'd been told he was stuck here, that he needed a job, money, somewhere to live... It was all a little overwhelming.

He couldn't be stuck here. He needed to get home. There was a war on, and Lily was going to pop out a sprog any day and James would go completely batshit if Sirius wasn't there to toast the new arrival.

He winced a little, glancing up to find himself staring over a lake. It reminded him of Hogwarts, and a pang of longing traveled through the young man's stomach. Without thinking, he picked up a flat stone on the edge of the water and sent it skimming out over the mirrored surface. Sirius watched it bounce once, twice... four times it skimmed the water, creating a pattern of ripples, before sinking to the surface.

With a sigh, he lifted his gaze from where it had sank, finally noticing the girl perched a distance away, her feet in the water, her head thrown back peacefully. She was the first person he'd seen here who didn't look completely mental. (Those Knights had really needed a decent drink, or something...) Taking a breath, Sirius checked for the reassurance of his wand in his back pocket, then strode over to her. He wanted answers from someone he could actually see talking to him.

Coming up behind her, Black cleared his throat a little, introducing himself a lot more politely than he would usually have bothered with. But something about this place unnerved him, and he had seen enough this last year to keep from throwing himself in head first. Perhaps he was finally maturing.

The idea made him feel slightly sick.

"Er.... Hi?"

Guinevere's eyes sprang open as she heard someone clear their throat behind her. Turning more fully, her feet slowly leaving the water, her eyes squinted as she looked up toward the man standing there. She would be worried had it not been for his timid greeting. Putting on a smile, she quickly stood, slipping her feet back into her shoes. They were slightly wet but she didn't really mind.

"Hello. Are you okay?" she asked, trying to seem as friendly as possible. After all there were a lot of people around them their must have been a reason he came to her. Tilting her head, she guessed what may have caused such expressions on his face. "Just arrived I am guessing? Couldn't have chosen a worse time with this heat."

Sticking her hand out, she kept the smile on her face. Maybe he would feel more comfortable having a name? "I'm Guinevere. Most call me Gwen though."

Sirius may have noticed how pretty she was if he hadn't been so confused. The sun wasn't helping. "Oh.. right. Yeah. I got manhandled by a load of Knights about... twenty minutes ago?" He reached out, taking the offered hand in a firm handshake. "I'm Sirius. Sirius Black. I just..." He trailed off a little uselessly. It took a lot to make Sirius Black, blabbermouth extraordinaire, fall speechless. But this probably just about qualified.

"... What the bloody hell happened to me?" He finally spat out, eyes widening as he turned to look around him once again. He was still half clinging to the hope that it was just James' idea of a joke, or that he'd simply been hexed unconscious and would wake any moment with a pretty female healer standing over his bed...

"You are not the first and I doubt the last," she said with a small smile. "It's nice to meet you Sirius."

She gave him a moment to compose his thoughts, dropping her hand to her side as she watched the emotions on his face. She understood what he must be feeling even if she had been here for months. You didn't forget such a strong confusing feeling. At his question, she laughed softly before looking around.

"This is Colligo. People have been brought here from various places in time; future and past. There's no way for you to get home unless whoever brought us here decides to send us back."
