WHO: Uther and Morgana
WHAT: Uther is introduced to this strange city.
WHEN: Sortly after Uther arrives in the Library.
WHERE: Outside the Library.
RATING: PG
STATUS: Incomplete.

Uther was still stood more or less where the Knights had left him, slightly stunned, unsure what was going on. He wasn't sure what was happening, or how it had happened. All he knew was that he didn't like it. Not one bit.

One moment he had been in the council chambers, signing off a few things before he retired back to his chambers for the night, a candle burning low beside his goblet of wine at his elbow. The next he had been scrambling awake in a strange library, unfamiliar Knights who certainly didn't work for his son pulling him in all directions, shoving strange black boxes into his hands and forcing him out onto the street. The King of Camelot stood alone, tucked away close to the wall in a way that didn't fit his status. But this whole place was... unsettling.

And Arthur was here, along with Morgana. Both his children were stuck in this strange place, away from home and trapped. He needed to get them home. Who knew what could happen in a place like this? More importantly, although it didn't really seem it right now, who was in charge of Camelot? As far as he understood, the city was unguarded. Anything could happen.

The message from Morgana had said she was coming, that he should wait here. And Uther was too thrown and confused to do anything but obey. So he stood silently, pressed against a dirty wall, and he waited.

One had to absolutely love the timing of this place and whoever control it, Morgana thought sarcastically as she stalked from her apartment onto a sidewalk and into a cab. She had been here too long to believe that anything was completely - if at all - arbitrary. Gwen had recently ... died. Arthur was mourning his wife and of course Uther had to show up. Uther who would cause, was already cause, the most trouble for the man she'd come to see more and more as a brother in the passing days in Colligo.

The was a very tiny part of her. That hoped that things would go smoothly. That Uther would look beyond his nose, his own selfish interests, and see how his son was suffering. Accept it and finally be a real father to Arthur. Rather than a commander and a king. To offer his son support without judgment and recriminations. It was the part that recalled their moment before her father's grave. The slightly larger part that more than hoped for it but had actually missed him. The parts of him that were actually tolerable.

Morgana understood that he was worried for Camelot. And that possibly he was scared and confused. However, Uther was a grown man in her opinion and should have reacted better. He should have. The fact that he hadn't didn't surprise her. He hadn't noticed how very obviously Arthur was hurting. And Morgana was of the opinion a blind man would have noticed Arthur's pain. Everything he said seemed to scream that they, Arthur, didn't care enough about Camelot. Because they had become accustomed to this place. Which in her mind further proved how little he knew them. How little he knew Arthur.

How she wished that he had just stayed back in Camelot. Left them all in peace. She had enough on her plate. She didn't need this. Yet handle him she would.

As she always did.

Morgana stepped out of the cab. Paying the driver and asking her to wait.

She spotted Uther and made her way to him. Morgana stared at him for a moment. Not quite sure what to say. She wasn't happy to see him, but she wasn't wholly unhappy either if she were to be honest to with herself. Yet in the mood his arrival had put her in, she wasn't inclined to greet him warmly. "Welcome to Colligo."

She appeared as if from nowhere, stepping from the shadows and approaching him carefully, as if afraid he'd snap. She looked different, considering that as far as he was concerned, he had only seen her yesterday. Morgana’s familiar face was set in an expression he didn’t particularly like, as if she was fighting something. She paused, and there was a long, painful silence, broken by distant rumbles and other noises he didn't recognize from the city.

Finally she spoke, and Uther felt an unexpected rush of relief pass through him, making him unsteady on his old feet. He crossed the space to her in several long strides, reaching out and wrapping gloved hands gently around her upper arms. "Morgana..." he breathed, taking a sweeping look up and down her frame. "You're safe."

After all, he had sworn to his best friend he'd care for the girl. She was his child almost as much as Arthur was these days, and if anything had happened to her he didn't know what he would do. He was still confused, angry, and (although he'd never admit it) a little afraid. But at least she was safe, and that was a weight from his shoulders. He peered into her face, struggling to read the emotion he saw there in the strange artificial lights.

"Where's Arthur?"

His first words to her visibly startled her; however, Morgana had always been an expert actress. She could manipulate her emotions as well as those around her as best as she wanted to most times. Which is why she easily managed to hide her surprise. Nodding she gave him a small smile that actually managed to be mostly genuine. She probably looked so strange to him. What with the way she was dressed. Her hair pulled back into a tight and high ponytail. She was wearing dark blue jeans and a purple t-shirt that would have been plain if not for some random saying on it, that she couldn't really be bothered to care about at the moment. She had her purse at her shoulder.

Not to mention she was a year old. And she possibly looked it. She imagined it was one of the things that Colligo did to a person. Morgana was tired, even though she was a damn good job of hiding that as well. With make up and that sheer determination of hers. Yet the fact was still there and for a moment when he touched her, along with the surprise there was a flash of vulnerability. That wanted to lean into him as she'd done so many times before. Yet she didn't.

"Arthur couldn't make it." Lies were simpler when there was truth in them. Not that Morgana didn't know how to lie smoothly. "Not to worry. He's safe. However, this place has occurrences that are often times stranger," And much more hurtful. "than Camelot. You know how Arthur is." She made it seem how Arthur was in another adventure. If she asked, she would say that it was pressing enough that he couldn't pull away. Even for him. Which also wasn't an exact lie. This was just something Morgana wish he would have never had to go through.

She was dressed strangely. She barely looked the same person that he'd bid goodnight only yesterday. Her eyes looked tired, and there was a tightness to her expression that Uther didn't recognize. The King cleared his throat, embarrassed by his moment of compassion as he released her from his grasp, feeling the loss of the contact immediately.

He nodded at her words, the knot in his stomach relaxing still further. Arthur was safe. From her explanation he had a vague feeling his son was out doing something he shouldn't, but at least he was safe. He trusted what Morgana had to say to him - she was so much like her Father, and Uther had known he could trust that man with his life. He felt a familiar churn of guilt at the thought of his lost friend, but pushed it back hurriedly.

"...What happened?" he asked, trying to cram a thousand questions into that one. Where were they? How had they got here? How did they get back? Uthur shut his tired eyes for a moment, blocking out the strange city to try and work out his own thoughts.

Morgana's lips pursed just ever so slightly when he pulled his hand away. Of course. God forbid that he continued to show weakness or that he was truly happy to see anyone. And he wondered why the pushed him away? Arthur - they didn't - didn't ask for much. Yet the very little that was needed, in her mind, he could not give. Would not give.

She relaxed ever so slightly when he accepted her answer. She knew that he would but one should never completely relax until things were all clear. With Arthur, for the moment, out of the conversation, Morgana went onto the next subject. Explaining Colligo. Which tended to be difficult enough. She had the sense to know that it likely would be even more difficult explaining it all to Uther.

"No one is exactly sure." She said honestly. The tiniest shrug accompanying her words. This place tended to do that one as well. She and Arthur were one of the most headstrong people out there. In fact of life, and apparently even in legend, if they could come to just accept the craziness of Colligo. It said something about the place. "We all just appear here at the library and are given minimal information from the device the knights handed to you. There is no way to leave unless whoever or whatever brought us here decides to send us back. It's an entire modern city- or rather futuristic in your case- , therefore you will not want for the basics. It supplies you with a place to leave and some funds to start out with. However, very soon you will need to get a job ... work." She added, correcting herself. She'd been here for the better part of the year. She knew what the word 'job' meant. Uther would not.
