================================

Clark had been quite busy. Evil was supposed to have an end. Good was supposed to eventually triumph. He wasn't naive, he knew that sometimes bad things still happened to people. Even he couldn't be everywhere at the same time.. not even back home. But when there was a credible threat taking place near him and if he could do something about it, chances were that he'd have stopped evil in its tracks. Whether it be crime, a natural disaster, or random accident, or even something like an otherworldly threat coming to his town. But he considered this his home as well even if it wasn't exactly Earth. He had been all over. He'd been through the woods a few times. Standing on rooftops. Running downtown. Investigating any kind of deaths that seemed unusual. He had noticed a good number of vampires. And he had been managing to deal with it, yes... but it wasn't easy. They were like a hive of hornets. Stop a few and they'd be replaced the next night. Or maybe even within another few hours. This chaos was relentless. He knew that some people were staying indoors, but he couldn't do that. It wasn't in his nature. The Apocalypse was here and he couldn't just stand idly by and do nothing. So he had spent his time out here. He hadn't found out much about the main threat, but there was plenty of minor ones, or at least minor to one like him. People were still dying. And he still had to do what he was sent from Krypton to do and that was to help others in any way he could.

So he stood once again near the business district. His eyes were scanning the area, his ears listening for any signs. Then.. he found it after a while of walking around. A block away, in an alley. There were two men. He rounded the corner and slowly walked in. Seemed to just be a couple regular young men, in normal clothes. But then he stared at them for a long moment. It was clear to him. Small hearts, no blood in their nerves, absent pulse. And fangs. They were definitely undead. And clearly up to no good as they had been talking about robbing a nursery, walking into a mall, and possibly some other insidious crime. He kept walking and stopped when he faced them. "Sorry, guys. Afraid I'm going to have to stop you."

"Yeah?" One of the huffed, snickering. "You and what army?" They started to approach then, walking to him in a swagger type motion. They weren't too worried. Just one regular guy who made the mistake of interfering, right? Had to be. The hero must have been dumb or crazy. Maybe both.

Clark simply stared. "Just me." For now, anyway. He didn't doubt that there would be others around doing things to help, or trying to. He caught their sneering faces and the laughs of disbelief. And he saw their faces suddenly change. Definitely no doubt about what they were, though he already knew it beforehand. "And just fair warning... unless you want to visit your dentist, it's a really bad idea to try and bite me."

It would appear that his warning fell on deaf ears. Because no sooner had he spoke then the second vampire drew a knife and thrust toward his abdomen. "What the..." He was shocked as it was almost like hitting a wall with it. So he tried to slash at the throat while grabbing his arm. Instead of blood, the knife scraped. Clark reacted by swiftly taking the knife from him and squeezing in his hand... which led to the blade crumpling like paper. He unclenched his fist and the knife crumpled like so many little pieces of metal falling on the ground. He did have to admit that these vampires were strong. He had a bit of a challenge the first time and it had drawn out longer than it should have then; he would have to work fast in order to move on to other threats. He had heard that there were some that may travel in packs. Could be anywhere from five to twenty. He had to find them. Regardless of how hard such a fight would be far him, no matter how dangerous, this is what he was. He didn't know any other way to be. Though knowing his luck, it would probably end up the other way around... they would probably find him.

This caused a shocked reaction, the vampire having noticed weapons had little to no effect on the meddling young man. Clark then grabbed the fiend by his shirt and gave a tossing motion. The brute was then flying back into the alley, landing against the dumpster with a thud as he fell to the ground afterward. He then glanced at the secondary creature. It had decided to run to survive for another night of fighting. But... Clark didn't think that was a good idea. The monster could just terrorize someone else in the city. Feed on someone who didn't get inside the apartments in time. Or it could kill off a few of the 'natives' of the city. The former farmboy occasionally had doubts about what kind of people they were. But they were still people, they were still humans in his eyes.

So he stared at the vampire's backside as it kept running out of the alley. It was definitely very fast. But then Clark's eyes took on a warmth, changing from blue to red. Twin beams of heat suddenly shot from his eyes, hitting the enemy in the back. The heat intensified as he continued to glare and then... the man caught on fire and as it flailed, yelled out as he suddenly turned to ashen dust on the cement. With a sigh, Clark Kent then turned and began to make his way to the remaining undead creature in the back of the alley. As he did so, his hearing picked up another pair of footsteps in the area. He was unsure of who it was at the moment. It could be an ally. A hunter, angel, or some other good type entirely. Or it could be yet another evil minion of the night, a vampire... or a demon. Or possibly just someone in the wrong place at the wrong time. Someone who would need help. In any case, he'd have to make sure that was taken care of before resuming his attention toward the remaining threat. People's safety would always come first.

Savannah had been at the college studying for a final that she had the next day. She wanted to sit in the same desk in the same classroom as the test would be happening, it was her way of herself to envision her studying and that way she would do well on her exam. She looked at her watch and realized that it was pretty late, she would need her sleep so that she could be fresh and alert. She was going to pass this exam.

So when she put her backpack around her shoulders she headed out of the building and began to walk towards her apartment. There she saw them, these guys just standing around. They had surrounded her and were pushing her, tormenting her until she was in tears. Until suddenly one of them showed his fangs and then she became frightened. "Please don't hurt me, I'm just an innocent college student." The Vampire then proceeded to smile and laugh. "Yeah your innocent alright, and you smell good enough to eat, I could use a snack." He then began to lick his lips as he was feeling rather hungry.

Savannah saw that these were really hungry vampires. So she punched one in the face and started taking off. Yeah that didn't quite work out in her advantage cause the next thing she knew the vampire was right in front of her. "Oh you can't run away from me honey, now lets see how good you taste, your smell is driving me insane." Savannah tried to show that she was a strong person, she tried to reach around for her pencil, but she ended up finding a sharp stick on the ground. So she picked it up and stabbed it into his heart, there she saw the flame up. "Oh you bitch." Then he turned to dust.

She was out of breath from all of that. She didn't know why but it was probably cause right now she was fearing for her life. So she did the only thing she could do, Run as fast as she could. But then she heard and saw two more vampires. "Oh great, this is just what a I need." She decided to hide somewhere, but before she did that, she yelled. "CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME!!" Then she told herself. "Bad idea." She could be so stupid sometimes, So when she saw the vampires coming towards her hiding spot she took her stick and she was prepared to fight.

There was one male and one female vampire. They had known where Savannah was hiding, so they came towards her. "Well, well, well, look what we have here. Fresh Meat." The woman vampire said. Savannah got up and swallowed hard, she then went hard and tried to stab the stick into her but the male caught it and grabbed her by the throat. Then he brought out his fangs. "I take the first bite." He said. Savannah just wept with tears. "I don't taste that good, I swear, maybe you should try someone else, someone that's not so skinny." Both vampires then started laughing hard. "Oh but you smell so nice Sugar." The woman then looked at the male vampire. "Go ahead and see what she tastes like, I'm hungry." So Savannah did the only thing she could do, she closed her eyes and hoped that someone would come and save her.

Clark realized that he might need a weapon at some point. Super strength, speed, and heat vision was all well and fine to handle threats, but it would not hurt to have a tool for the job as well. Looking to his feet, he noticed a busted chair with only three good legs. Reaching down, he punched his fist into the seat and took up the thinnest part that was damaged. It would do as a stake for the moment. Then he stopped. Someone in the area was in trouble. As soon as Clark had heard the cry for help, he had immediately taken off, using his enhanced hearing with x-ray vision to pinpoint where to go. Ten blocks away from his current location. Wasn't that far. Least not for him. Two vampires and a young woman in danger.

It was only one to three seconds later when he was standing behind the two fiends and holding the stake. Another split second and he rammed it through the center back of the male, all the way through his front.. there was the initial shock and surprise from the vampire as it yelled out and quickly turned to dust. "No one dies tonight," Clark said then with resolve. And by no one, he was only referring to humans. Vampires and demons didn't get a free pass as ar as he was concerned. He then turned his attention to the female, giving her what seemed like a little push.. except she was sent flying about six to eight feet away from them. Clark knew she'd be either rushing back or fleeing to get away, so he turned to the young human woman. "Hey, are you okay? Did they bite you? Just.. stay here and don't move yet until the other one is stopped. I promise they won't hurt anyone else ever again. I'll help protect you." And he would. If the remaining vampire or anyone else dared to close in past him to get to Savannah, he'd be on them in a literal half second.

When she closed her eye she felt his breath on her neck. "Don't worry this won't hurt one bit. Actually its going to hurt like hell. Now be still." She started to scream when she actually felt the fangs getting closer and closer. So she did the only thing she could think of, which was to kick his shins and run away. "I am not going to be some feast for you guys. Not anymore." She then looked around to try and find something to stake them with. But there was nothing, she did notice another stick so she picked one up again.

But again that didn't work, these vampires were stronger than she was. They once again knocked the stick out and the woman held her so that she couldn't get away. "Go ahead baby, take a big bite out of her." The male vampire then went up to her. "You are quite a fighter, but I'm sorry that our meeting has to end like this." He then leaned down again and this time, she closed her eyes again and she could feel the fangs going into her. But then there was nothing, she opened up her eyes to see that the male vampire had been staked and the woman vampire ran off. She fell to the ground and started crying. She could hardly talk to the guy but she managed to say something. "I'm okay, thank god. Umm he was close but I don't think he bit me, you got him before he could actually puncture anything." She looked around, "What is going on here? Is....Is she coming back for me?"

"Vampires," Clark said with a nod. They were obviously different than any he'd faced before. These were the real type. And had nothing to do with kryptonite-infected experiments gone wrong. But at least he knew the basics of how to take care of them. "They're evil. Looking for victims to drain." Clark had glanced around the alley first before turning to her. The female vampire had probably run off. "She's gone.. for now. If she wanted to try anything now, she'll have to go through me first.. and she won't. Not after what happened to her partner."

He held his hand out toward the girl, so as to help her get up to her feet. She seemed to be safe now. He just needed to help her get to someplace indoors. "I'm Clark. Can you still walk? I can help you get to your house or apartment. You should be safe there. Do you live far from here?"

Vampires? She never thought that any of them existed, I guess they actually do exist. "Wow, I didn't even know that such things actually were true. I mean I always thought that they were just in books and in movies." She then ran her arm around her neck still feeling where the fangs were going to dig into her. She took a couple of minutes to compose herself. "Well, that's good. I thought I was going to be dinner."

She then took his hand and got up off the ground. "Thank you very much for doing that. I'm Savannah, yeah I can still walk. But I don't want to be alone tonight. What if she comes back for me.

The female vampire ran off but she was still watching the boy and girl walking. How dare that he ruin their plans, he killed her lover and now he was going to pay. So she ran and took the girl by her neck. Savannah felt it and screamed. "CLARK!" The female vampire hissed at the guy. "You destroy my lover and I destroy the people that you are protecting."

Savannah had tears in her eyes once more. "Clark, please do something, I can't die, I don't want to get bitten either." The woman vampire had her fangs out. "You will make a nice meal." She then bit into Savannah making Savannah scream out. Just then she kicked the vampire in the legs making her fall back a little. Just then she found a sharp object and stabbed the female vampire in the heart making her turn into dust. Her neck was still bleeding but at least she was dead. "The answer to your question is that I don't live far away. But ummm I'm feeling kind of strange."

"They're definitely real," Clark said with a nod. "Been running into them for the past few nights so far. You won't be dinner as long as I'm around." And he really meant that. This was his job, his calling. Keeping people safe. Keeping worlds safe. "I'll walk with you until you get to your room and lock the door." But then he was caught by surprise as the vampire female blindsided them, swiftly taking Savannah hostage. The fiend was much quicker than any human opponent. Not nearly as quick as Clark.. but still a threat. And before he could use his super speed to rush forth and separate them, the creature had bitten into the girl's neck. "NO!!"

But then as Clark had stepped forward, Savannah had taken out the attacker, killing it. He'd be impressed. If there still wasn't the injury to deal with. "Savannah, I... I'm so sorry. I should have scanned the area first before we left. Should have..." He shook his head. This was no time for guilt yet. She was still alive and that is what mattered most. "You need pressure on the wound." He held a hand to her neck, ripping a part of his jacket arm, signaling for her to hold the fabric there as they slowly walked. He could only hope it would be enough. "You can't take it off. There.. you lost a lot already. Please, just keep pressure and I'll call a doctor when we get to your room."

She was impressed with herself that she could fight the way that she did. John would definitely think that she was the perfect girlfriend. If he was here of course. But her wound was painful, and when she looked at her fingers they were covered in blood. The vampire actually accomplished with biting her. Oh no what was going to happen to her now? She didn't kill her, did she get turned?

Just then Clark came over and she looked at him and gave him a hug. "Hey its alright. I'm here and alive. You did so much, I could have gotten killed by those two vampires." He then put his hand on her neck and ripped a piece of his shirt and she held it there. "Thank you." She was scared at how much she actually lost. She started to walk and eventually they landed in her apartment and she sat on the couch. "Clark, I know you probably have to go and everything, but until a doctor actually comes, will you stay with me?" She kept the piece of fabric on her wound.

So.. she was still alive. Well, that was something at least. Clark was glad for that. Even with being injured, the girl was alive. It could be much worse. He had seen worse, in fact. And she was right about him. He really did save her from those two vampires a while ago. Who knew what would happen if he hadn't been going out into the city every night? This was what he did. Although it wasn't always like this. It was only now that these soulless, evil things started appearing in the city. He'd blame Lucifer for that.

"Yes, of course," Clark said as he then moved to sit with her on the couch. He sent a message to the hospital, calling for an emergency via his PDA device. "That's quite all right. I won't leave until someone, a skilled doctor at least, comes here for you. I'll stay here until then."

Sitting on the couch she could feel as if she was going to throw up. Feeling really queasy and shaky she just stared at the wall. Hoping that she would be okay and the doctor would make things better. But at the same time she was worried that she wouldn't even make it until the doctor came. But she was going to brush off that feeling.

"Thank you so much for staying. I'm not really sure what I would do just sitting here by myself." She started to shake, "I'm starting to feel really cold." She grabbed a blanket and wrapped herself in it. Then she started to shake some more. She was probably paler than usual as well. "Am I going to die?" She looked over at him. "Sorry I didn't mean to ask you that question. I'm just not feeling right, I feel numb and cold."

"Cold? And.. heavy and light at the same time? Numbness?" Alright, he was definitely very worried for her now. He remembered being near death. He had actually died once. When he was shot. He was human at the time, though. And his father's chosen vessel had somehow managed to restore him, bring him back. But the Fortress of Solitude didn't exist here. He could not just take her there to make her completely better.

"I.." He paused, wrapping an arm around her, sitting close to the girl for warmth. She was near death. But he just didn't want to believe it. Even though he did know how serious this was. "I understand. It.. I hope not. We just need to wait. Just a little while longer, and then you'll be better. Don't be afraid. I.. I'm here, Savannah. I'll stay here with you."

She nodded her head as she wiped away her tears. "Yeah, I'm not feeling myself. And I'm feeling sleepy. Is all of this normal coming from a vampire bite?." She didn't know she was trying to stay clear of the whole dying situation. She was going to be fine, the doctor would be here and then she would be sleeping like a baby and actually would wake up the next morning.

When he sat closer she wrapped the blanket tighter around her and put her head on his shoulder. "I can wait. I'm a strong person." She then started to yawn. "Well, this has certainly been an interesting night. I never expected to be studying for an exam and being in a vampire attack all at the same time. Thank you by the way, for everything. You really are a hero."

Clark didn't want to think that she was near death. He knew it deep down that this is what it was, he just didn't want to even think it. "It's probably normal for.. vampire attacks. You just need more blood and you'll be fine." He really wished he had some kryptonite to cut his hand, or maybe a weapon from one of the angels. His blood had been known to have instantaneous healing properties. It had even brought the dead to life once. But without something to pierce his skin...

"You're welcome," he said after a moment. It was nice to be thanked for something like that. He was on occasion. Saving people was what he did. He didn't do it for thanks or praise, he did it because... it had to be done. Because it saved lives and made people feel better. "I have been called that. Actually, I... really don't know what else I would be. I'm just glad I got to you in time."

She kind of had it on the mind that because she was getting colder and the shirt was fully covered in blood that maybe this was it. She was really going to go to the other side, there was so much that she wanted to do. But maybe the doctor would get to her apartment and they could save her, they better get here quick. She was starting to shake with coldness. "I just hope that they come. I don't know how much longer I'm going to last, I'm just so cold."

Savannah looked up at him and gave him a warm smile. "Well, I'm glad that you get called a hero, because that's what you are. And you know what, I'm not afraid of passing on, you were here with me. And I thank you for that." She kissed him on the cheek. "I'm feeling really tired, I'm just going to lay down here and take a nap." Savannah then laid her head down on the pillow and pulled the blanket over her. "Your sort of cute there Clark." She giggled before closing her eyes, she let the piece of fabric from her neck fall to the ground as she took her last breath and passed away. That being her last words.

Clark didn't say anything more, just nodded with a slight smile. The truth was that he didn't really know what to say. He knew what was happening. He knew there was no use denying it or pretending anymore. What hurt the most was that he hadn't been able to ultimately save her life or change that particular outcome. It was probably a small comfort that it had ended in the comfort of her residence instead of a dirty street alley at the expense of soulless, demonic predators. And at least this was the last person those fiends would have ever hurt again.

He held a smile, though grew serious as he heard her last words. As he saw her eyes close. As he saw that her chest did not slowly rise and fall any longer. Putting a finger to her neck confirmed that there was no longer a pulse. She was actually dead. The room had then become eerily quiet for ten minutes as he just sat here and looked at her. And then.. the silence had become too much for him to stay. He gave a final kiss on the forehead, sort of a farewell gesture of kindness and respect. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to do more."

He couldn't really do anything else here. So he flipped out his PDA and sent a cancel-type note for the hospital or doctors there, and that it was being handled. He would talk about this incident on the network shortly. When the night was over. But it wasn't over yet, there were still quite a few hours before dawn. There were still threats out there. There were still vampires, there were still demons.. as well as the Devil and his evil allies. And so, after he left the room and shut the door, he was gone, once again using his speed to run around the city in search of more rescues to undertake.

Stephen stared at the PDA in his hand, rereading the reply he'd just received from that Crowley guy, and let his head slump against the metal railings that surrounded him. Headshots were useless? Wonderful. Not that he had a gun to be making any headshots with, mind you. And his head was spinning from being thrown against a wall, and his leg ached from where one of the things below had managed to grab him as he pulled himself up onto the fire escape, never mind the bloodloss from his leg. The combination of all those things meant that he probably couldn't have managed to aim accurately anyway. He was stuck there, with just a dagger for protection. He sent his reply to Crowley, then put the PDA away in his pocket.

The things, whatever they were, had to be playing with him. He'd managed to scramble up to his current resting place, and he was far from his usual levels of fitness. Those things were stronger, faster and with claws like those for fingernails, he was certain they could climb whatever they wanted to. The only reason he wasn't being torn apart again was because they were enjoying the whole awful process. One of them had decided to stand underneath where he was sitting on some stairs, her mouth open to catch all the blood that was dripping from his leg, and it was that which made him decide they were vampires. The male one paced up and down in front of him, jumping up every once in a while to hang from the edge of the fire escape and making him jump each time. Each time he jumped, it set the bleeding and pain in his leg off again. So yes, they were playing. He held his head in his hands and tried to work out how he was going to apologise to Nick for this one.

The next hand to grab a hold of the fire escape was different. The female, he realised, watching as both her hands grabbed a hold of the railings. Was she... she was, she was pulling herself up! Shit. Shit shit shit. He stood up quickly, getting his dagger out of the sheath where it hung from his belt, and ignored the dizziness that threatened to have him sitting down once more. His bad leg wouldn't have much strength for stamping down on the vampire's hands, but he could definitely kick at her fingers and force her to lose her grip. His boots had steel toecaps as well, so that would help.

He swung his foot at the hands. He was never going to get both of them, but he did manage to connect with the woman's right hand. He'd have grinned at the sound of her yell and the sight of her flailing while she hung from one hand, but the pain that had shot up through his leg was more than a bit distracting and set his head to spinning once more. He swung another kick at her other hand, but the male vampire was hanging from the fire escape by now and realising that was enough to knock his aim off. By the time he'd recovered from kicking the railings, the male vampire was crouched on top of them, just too far away for him to try and shove the bastard back down to the ground. It just smirked at him and then jumped down to stand on the fire escape as well, while the female managed to pull herself up to stand on the outside of the railings.

He limped backwards until he was up against the brick wall, his dagger held ready in front of him. He'd briefly considered trying to get down to the ground again, but there was no way he'd have been able to land properly, never mind run away. His best bet was to stay where he was and try to hold them off for as long as possible. He wasn't letting himself even consider the notion of dying. He wasn't going to do that to Nick again. The woman laughed at that point, and he glanced over at her, only to look back and see nothing but sharp teeth and hooked claws reaching for him. He screamed after that, something about fucking off and leaving him be as he lashed out with the dagger and his fist, but he really didn't know what was said or what he was doing because he was back in that room full of predators from all eras yet again and he had to get out, he had to, had to, he refused to die again.

Having saved someone earlier, Clark had once again went out to the streets. It wasn't long before he picked up sounds of a struggle. A man was in danger. There was evil laughter. And the occasional sounds of something hitting against metal. Someone had really needed help right now and he was going to make sure he did that. It hadn't taken him that long to pinpoint the location. And when he did, he was standing right there under the fire escape.

There were two people trying to get up to the man who was injured. An x-ray scan had given him a clear idea of how dangerous the injury was. It had also shown just what the other two were. Vampires, again. He stood behind them. In a flash, he grabbed the jacket collar of the woman, pulling her from the railing and holding her a could feet up in the air for a moment.. before making a tossing motion with his hand. Clark watched as she was sent flying back, hitting against the wall five feet away. She'd be back up soon. He gave a shove to the man as well, sending him a few paces back farther. Before the male fiend got fully back up again, Clark stared for a moment, and beams of fire came from his eyes. It was an intense, focused blast. As it caught fire, engulfed in flame, there was a small explosion as the creature burst into dust and settled on the pavement.

The girl was likely getting up right now. And maybe shocked, as this was not normal at all. But he'd deal with her next. After checking up on the one in need. Clark turned his back to the girl and looked up at the man in danger, outstretching a hand toward him to show he was a friend. If the woman tried to attack or bite him, he'd be ready. He wasn't exactly worried about getting bitten. And he was standing between Hart and the vampire, so he'd be ready to finish things. "Hey, you're alright? You'll be safe in a second. Just.. try not to move. Your injury is serious."

Stephen didn't really pay attention to what was actually going on. He knew someone new was there, but in his mind, it was just something else going to attack him. The two Deinonychus were now replaced by one of the future predators, and he couldn't let one of those get a hold of him or he might as well just turn the dagger on himself. It'd be quicker and cleaner, after all.

When the predator reached towards him, he grabbed the thing's arm and pulled it towards him before stabbing at the forearm with his dagger and yelling as loud as it could. The predators used sonar to locate their prey, so if he disrupted their hearing in any way, it might give him a chance to get away. Of course, that was before his dagger just skidded over the skin of the predator; he had swung his hand down with such force that he ended up losing his grip on the dagger's hilt and the knife went clattering along the grille. He was fucked now, wasn't he? Letting go of the predator's arm, he jerked backwards as quickly as he could, which only resulted in him cracking the back of his skull off the wall. He moaned in pain and couldn't help but slide down the wall a bit, eyes widening as he saw the Deinonychus... no, the woman... vampire? He saw her over the shoulder of some bloke he'd never seen before, and looked round frantically as he tried to work out how to get away. Nick was going to kill him if he died again... wait. No, that was stupid. Whatever. The important thing was that the female vampire was back and seemed to be going for the new guy. "Look out!" Enemies of enemies and all that, right?

Clark looked at the man in surprise. He reaches out a helping hand and then gets stabbed for it? But to be fair, the man was probably in shock. And Clark wasn't hurt at all anyway. It was nothing. There was no mark on him. But that wasn't too abnormal, he could get hit by tanks or nuclear bombs and it wouldn't leave a dent. But the man had hit his head! He would need help. But first..

"I'm fine," he said, feeling a thud in his backside. The woman obviously had a knife and tried to stab him with it. He didn't feel any pain. It just left a hole in his jacket, which was his favorite, but no pain or feeling to his actual self. Definitely needed a new jacket. He turned and used a palm-strike attack to her chest, knocking her back to the wall again. When she got up and turned around, Clark was suddenly standing in front of her. "This evil stops now. I don't know where you things came from, or who or why brought you here.. but you won't kill anyone else while I'm in the city."

He held her arm in an iron grip and pulled the stake from his jacket. And in what seemed a microsecond, had plunged it through her heart. There was a scream of pain as she looked up, cursing him but also surprise with a What are you?! type look. And she collapsed, entire body turning to dust, to ash, falling to a pile on the ground. Then Clark turned and slowly walked toward the man on the fire escape, hands slightly raised. "You okay? I.. I'm the good guy here, I swear. I'm not going to hurt you. There's nothing to worry about, they won't hurt you anymore. My name is Clark."

Stephen had slumped down to sit on the grille, suddenly far too sore and tired to keep standing. He'd watched the guy deal with the woman, then tried to see where the male vampire had gone, but couldn't see it anywhere. Then the guy was talking at him so he looked round just in time for him to give his name.

"Clark. I, uh. What just happened?" he said, his head aching and pounding in time with the throbbing from his leg, and why was his hand sore? Oh, right, he lost his dagger, of course. "Where did the... the other one, the male one. Where is it?"

He had to find his dagger. Meg wouldn't be pleased if he lost his dagger. He pulled himself to his feet and swayed as he stood there and waited for the entire world to settle down. God, his head ached. He shook his head to try and clear it, but that just sent him dizzy, so he grabbed a hold of the railings for a moment before he started to limp over to where he thought he'd seen his dagger.

He looked over at Clark after a few seconds, then realised what he'd forgotten to do. "Thank you. I'm Stephen."

Clark glanced around, confused, as he then looked back at the man. He had been right there when the vampire was destroyed. Hadn't he.. seen it? Unless he was in shock at the time and was seeing something else. that had to be it. "Don't worry, it's toast. Literally." He gestured to the pile of dust on the ground. "See? Right there. They aren't good with fire and I had some on hand." Or in his eyes. But he wasn't sure how Stephen would handle that. It was already a crazy night so far. "It's okay, I took care of him. Nothing but dust. It's just me and you here right now."

Clark gave a quick nod at the thanks. "You're welcome. Helping others is what I do.." He paused, recalling that not everyone had been safe. He tried not to think on that. "How much farther do you live from this area? I should walk with you. There could be more of them out there hiding."

"Toast and dust. Right. Sure," he replied, still more than a little unsteady on his feet. But there was his dagger, at the other end of the grille, so he limped over to it and bent down to pick it up. Probably not one of his best ideas, since he ended up slumped against the railings once more; his head was spinning and he was seriously considering staying where he was if it meant he didn't need to move any more. Well, no more moving after he lifted his dagger. Very important.

"Don't know where I am. They, uh. Chased me," he replied, then went quiet as he fumbled with putting the blade back in its sheath. "I live in... D. Building D. Ground floor. Cutter's not going to like this," he said, muttering the last part to himself. Finally he managed to get the dagger put away. Time to go home. Get patched up and then find Nick and see if he could sleep there. That meant standing and moving, though. Shit.

Clark was a bit worried when Stephen had finally gotten his dagger back. He wondered if the man remembered that part of the fight. He supposed not, or there'd be questions as to why the blade didn't leave a mark on him or even so much as pierced his skin one bit. He didn't look fully healthy. Some rest would be important. So long as he stayed in bed, and didn't really move at all, he could heal. And he'd at least be off the streets and safer indoors. "D.." Clark paused. "Yeah, I know where that is. I think it's about ten, eleven blocks from here."

He also noticed that it was hard for Stephen to move. Probably from hitting his head, as well as the leg wound. "Uhh.. you know, I don't usually offer this. Err, to carry people, I mean. But I can get you to your exact room, if I know what door number, in about two to three seconds. Really, I can. I'm very fast."

Ten or eleven blocks in two to three seconds? What? He'd obviously misheard Clark, which was more than likely. Given the way his hearing was fading in and out with his pulse, much the same way as the pain in his leg and head throbbed in time with the same rhythm, Clark could have told him all manner of things and he wouldn't have known. Room number, though. That was easy. "I'm in 110D. Same's Dr. Saunders," he said, just in case Clark knew her.

He started struggling to his feet after that, and eventually made it a few minutes later. He was going to be useless for a while, or so it'd seem. Fantastic.

"Well, it's good that you live on the first floor," Clark said with an understanding nod. It'd probably be more strenuous if Stephen had to go up some stairs now. He stood close beside the man as they walked. Just in case he might need him for support. It would be a challenging walk. Unless Stephen took him up on the offer of carrying him. He was curious as to what the man had seen him do, if anything. Probably hadn't seen much if he was seeing anything other than what really happened. Usually when Clark used his powers in front of people, mostly while saving them, they were shocked and wanting to know how he did it.

"I.. might have heard of her. What is she a doctor of? Would she be able to treat your injuries?" Clark was curious about that. He was trying to block out what happened earlier on this night. Didn't want to think about it right now. "That's a good knife, by the way."

"Doctor of medicine," he murmured, "so, uh, yes."

It wasn't exactly the leg-wound that was the problem. It was really sore, yes, and the left leg of his jeans was soaked with his blood from the knee down, but that wasn't what was slowing him down the most. The spinning in his head was getting worse, never mind the pain, and he found it increasingly difficult to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Things were going quite fuzzy and grey around the edges when Clark mentioned something about a knife so he looked up from studying the ground in front of his feet and opened his mouth to reply.

Instead, the fuzzy greyness took over pretty much everything and Stephen slumped forward, completely unconscious.

"That's good," Clark said with relief. "She can probably help you with the wounds." He was human once. So he knew a great deal about pain, discomfort, and being hurt in several ways. He had even died once from a bullet. He looked to him then, to see what would be said about the knife. But then, suddenly, the man had fallen to the ground unconscious, and he had just barely slowed the fall. "Stephen, what..."

It would seem that he was very much out. Guess I'll need to carry him back after all, Clark thought to himself. Leaving him out here was never an option. He had to get him back quickly so he Stephen could rest more comfortably. And so, after making sure to set the knife in Hart's inner jacket pocket, he had scooped his arms under the other form and rose up to his feet. There was hardly much weight. He had lifted a farm tractor like it was nothing, after all. Had actually thrown one by accident. He could do this.

So he started to run. After his feet begun to move, he was a blur, appearing in front of the door with the 110D sign on it and used one hand to open it. Then he continued walking inside the room and set Stephen down on the couch. He seemed to vanish, and two seconds later, had stood over him with a pillow and carefully set it under his head. He then pulled out his PDA and typed a message directly to Claire Saunders.

[My name is Clark Kent. I found Stephen Hart while on patrol for any threats in the city. I've brought him back to his room just a few minutes ago, he's laying on the couch now. He needs help. I was able to bring him back here after a vampire attack. They didn't hurt him too seriously, but he did bang the back of his head from the wall and fire escape. He's resting now.]

He hit the Send button and stood beside the door, debating whether or not to go since he had already sent a message. He did need to go back out and try to save more people, defeat some more threats. But a person's safety and well-being would always come first, so he decided to just wait until Claire answered or showed up.
