WHO: Claire Bennet and Sam Winchester
WHAT: A late night chat.
WHEN: Around 3AM
WHERE: The balcony of apartment #401D
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
Claire couldn't sleep. She had tried, and failed, several times throughout the night thus far. She had stared at the ceiling, tried counting sheep, and forced herself to lay still for nearly half an hour with her eyes squeezed shut. Yet no matter what she did, she just couldn't fall asleep. Her mind was too busy running in circles - bouncing between the utterly mundane sorts of thoughts such as the inventory of her store and just when the sign-up for fall classes at the University began, and the more serious of topics such as Lucifer and the send of foreboding that permeated the air throughout the city since his arrival. Finally, after nearly forty-five minutes of trying to relax her muscles via every technique she'd ever heard or read about, she had given up.
Now, nearly half an hour later, she was sitting on the balcony with a pot of hot chocolate on a small, portable burner on the table beside her and a mug filled with the liquid in one hand. There was a pen in her other hand; she was idly chewing on the end of it while going over the latest figures from her video store's quarterly report from its spot on her lap. Her hair was piled up on her head in a sloppy ponytail with a few loose strands waving in the wind and occasionally tickling her cheek.
To anyone who might have spotted her who didn't really know her, she would have appeared to be completely focused on what she was doing. Yet even as she scribbled down a few figures in the margins of the paperwork, her mind wasn't really on the task. A fact made obvious when a few seconds later she set the mug down, then the paperwork, and rubbed at her eyes with a frustrated sigh.
