Who: Leah & Open
What: Exploring, patrolling.
When: Night time, around 11pm
Where: The city, sticking fairly close to the residents building.
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

The Gentlemen, that was the only thing she really knew, and that people could be in trouble. Leah had taken to patrolling as often as possible, since apparently the threat was from her world. Patrolling alone was new for her, she was always with many other Slayers. Faith was the only other one of them here at the moment, and the red head didn't trust her within a hundred yards of her, if not further. That was what you got when you tried to kill their General in a pool.

Her mass of red hair was pulled back as tightly as she could make it, braided down her back and out of the way. Her utility belt hung around her gray uniform that most of the slayers from her cell wore on patrols. Multiple items, such as holy water, a cross, grapple hook, a stake, and an axe were hanging there. Her footsteps were silent as she moved through the dark, eyes pealed for anything that shouldn't be here. Well, shouldn't be here more than how none of them should be here.

She wasn't sensing or hearing anything, but that didn't mean it couldn't change at any moment. Her arms were crossed over her chest as she walked silently through a park, passing by a row of trees that had play ground equipment on the other side. She kept on going, heading toward a darkened building that was part of a row of shops that were out on one of the main streets of the city.

The inability to talk was getting on Lindsey's nerves. He'd read about the Gentlemen but beyond that, no one was any closer to actually fixing the problem. Until then, he was stuck trying to convey what he needed to with a whiteboard and, on occassion, his middle finger. Quick and effective.

When it took him an hour to read the page he was on (of some book he'd picked up because it was there), he gave up and grabbed his coat, heading out into the night. Even if those Gentlemen were floating around out there, he knew enough to save his ass if the situation came down to it.

After wandering aimlessly for a while, he came across a familiar face, or hair color as the case went. Not much else to do, he quietly jogged to catch up with her.

When footsteps reached Leah's ears, she glanced over her shoulder casually, not going near her weapons until she was sure she was in danger. She looked back over quickly, rolling her eyes just as her roommate caught up with her. Former Wolfram and Hart employee, Andrea had asked her to keep an extra eye on him, just in case. And honestly, she had no problem with it. They shared the same apartment after all.

By the time he was beside her, Leah's face had gone neutral again. She turned her face to look at him, waving her hand slightly.

Following that she cocked and eyebrow, and motioned around her to the darkened area. A way of asking what he was doing out here. Wasn't it sort of dangerous. She knew he had worked for some big bads, but she had no idea if he was capable of taking care of himself against the Gentlemen. If he wasn't involved in any of this, which she was doubting he was, Leah hardly wanted to see him hurt.

As he caught up with her, Lindsey settled on returning the wave with a small salute of his own. There were a few witty comments he could have made, that she might've been able to make, but neither of them had the voice to give to it.

It took him a moment to understand what she was asking. Holding up a finger, he pulled the small notebook and the Sharpie out of his back pocket, scribbling something on the page and then turning it to show her.

Bored. Walking. Saw you. Anything interesting?

She paused, for a moment, but kept walking at a slower pace when she realized that he was simply pulling out some paper and a sharpie. Leah had left her paper inside, having not really expected to run into anyone. Or if she had run into something, she had expected it to be more of a fight with fists, rather than an a attempt at conversation.

A glance to the paper and she shook her head, and then shrugged. Nothing. She hadn't found anyone, but she was sticking to the residences, because if it was the Gentlemen, apparently they were going to be coming near people. She largest collection of people were in the buildings. As much as she didn't care for the locals, they were people too. She'd save them if she had to, it was her job.

Holding out her hand, she pointed to the pen and paper with the other one, so she could write something back. Nothing, unfortunately. Shouldn't you not be wondering outside?

That was a let down. Then again, he had no idea how long Leah had been out patrolling or maybe anything worth its weight in trouble was taking the night off. The latter was really stretching it. He handed over the paper and pen to her.

It was easier than playing charades with full sentences.

Seeing what she wrote, he held out his hand to take the writing supplies back. Trust me when I say I'm fully capable of handling myself in a situation. He had no feelings about saving lives but if it gave him something to do, well, he could lend a hand if need be. Or if something showed up.

She handed back his supplies without a hesitation, and then turned her gaze to sweep that area around her again. Honestly, she was pretty much itching for a fight. Anything, anyone, to come out and try and attack her so she could knock it around for a while. Assuming it could be knocked around.

Her face was skeptical for a moment as she read the note. She didn't know if she believed it, but you didn't get a job working at Wolfram and Hart for being useless. Still, the idea made her slightly uncomfortable. But on the flip side, she was supposed to keep an eye on him for Andrew, and this made doing so easier to do.

Motioning for the pad of paper back, she wrote quickly another question. Know much about the Gentlemen? she only knew what Andrew told her. There would probably be more information available to her if she was back in Scotland, but she had to work with what limited info she had. Maybe Lindsey knew more.

She didn't seem all that ready to believe him. With Cordelia around, Leah and the others probably knew a few stories that didn't shed too good of a light on him and asking for trust was probably pushing it. Smart girl. Didn't help him get his point across but still. Smart.

He took the pad back, flipping to a new page and putting the pen to paper. He frowned thoughtfully before he began scribbling down what he did know. Wasn't all that much.

Bring silence to whatever town they enter. Must have some greater purpose since striking towns mute just for kicks isn't exactly evil. Annoying. Frustrated, he flipped the pad around so she could see. Figured it'd be a subject he didn't know all that much about.

She frowned again, he didn't seem to know much more about the subject than Andrew did. Not overly helpful, but she had been reaching anyway. No way it would ever be that easy.

Of course no one who had dealt with them in their reality would be here either. That would be too easy, wouldn't it? She reached for the pad again, writing her message under his. Understatement. I want to find a vampire nest juts to give me something to do. Until they figured out how to stop the Gentlemen.

It was sort of sad, really. Nothing to slay, and no drills to run though, and all of a sudden she didn't know what to do with herself. That couldn't say much about her social life. Most teenagers would be taking the advantage on this. All she wanted was a way to slay something.

Lindsey shrugged, the movement strangely apologetic for him. Affected as he was by the Gentlemen, he'd help as he could. The Gentlemen, defeated as they had been by Buffy, had never fallen under the category of Need to Know because they'd been of no use dead.

And god, did he miss talking. He was beginning to realize just how much he did talk when he couldn't utter a word and had to write it all down.

Taking the pad back, he scribbled again. Aside from the random vampire that shows up here, think this place even has them? It was a big city, sure, one that he only knew a small part of. But given that this wasn't their dimension, he wondered just how many similarities it did share.

She was about to reach for the pad again, when the sound of someone approaching reached her ears, and she looked forward, eyes narrowing. She watched until her eyes finally saw the thing come around the corner. Hunched over, moving like how she would described egor from Frankenstein, only faster. Were those straight jackets and bandages? Following that one came another one. Two of them. Her hands dropped away from the pad of paper, and she raised arms and them dropped them, shouting "Finally!" as she did, though no sound came out.

Glancing at Lindsey, she hoped he had been telling the truth when he said he could look after himself. Not that she wouldn't try to make as little work for him as possible.

Someone of a smile on her face, she took a step toward the creatures, her hand pulling out the axe from her waist. These didn't look like the things Andrew had described, they had to be the lackeys. She met the first one, and the fight started.

When the sound of buckles clinking together reached his ears, Lindsey went absolutely still, tilting his head and frowning. It didn't take long for the source of the noise to appear after. An eyebrow arched at the creatures that came around the corner, flapping around in straightjackets and doing whatever the hell that gait was called.

Finally, Lindsey mouthed as he turned away from his roommate, unaware that she'd just said the same thing. It looked like his night was going to get a little more interesting after all.

He had a knife with him but left it in his pocket until it was absolutely needed, stepping forward to meet the one that didn't go towards the Slayer, keeping his own in the fight.

While fighting with a team was safer, it was actually a bit of a rush. Still, she would prefer the back up of other Slayers and Mister Harris on stand by talking them though whatever they might need. Though she was pretty sure she was fine as is. No one had told her that she couldn't kill the lackeys. Trading blows for around fifteen seconds, it was time to end this.

She ducked a swing, and landed one of her own, before she found an arm wrapped in bandages around her neck. Slightly annoyed by this, she slammed her head back into the creatures face, and then used the momentarily looser grip to throw him over her shoulder.

A steady flow of oxygen was back to her lungs. She might actually have one bruise for an hour or so from this guy, maybe. These things were ugly, she'd hate to see the bosses. Swinging the axe, she brought it down, and there was a sound of an axe slicing through the neck of the creature, causing the body to fall to the ground. She looked satisfied with herself or half a second, before she wheeled around to see where Lindsey stood.

The incessent flapping combined with the loose arms of the straightjacket was an annoyance while fighting. Looking for a tell that would give away the next blow was useless and Lindsey stayed on the defensive, keeping the creature occupied until he could plant a foot on one of the loose buckles, pinning it hunched over to the cement.

With only one of its arms free, he stepped in and swung, knocking the minion back easily. A few blocked swings and a kick later, the knife came out and ended up buried in the throat. He'd been aiming for the heart but a flap of the minion's arm at the right time and the strike had gone off target. Just as effective.

Bending down, he pulled the knife loose, making a face as he wiped the gore off on the straight jacket. He glanced up to see Leah had finished with hers and gave her a cocky smile as he nodded towards the dead body. See? I do just fine.

She gave him an amused look, before walking over to the body of the one he had just killed, and bent over, axe still in hand. It looked good and dead to her, but she wasn't really willing to risk it if that thing started moving again. Examining the body, she decided that Lindsey's dead one was in better condition, head still attached and all. She'd dump one, and take the other.

Looking back at the one she had killed, lying on the pavement, she took out her lighter and looked up and Lindsey, pointing from the lighter to the one she had killed. She wanted it gone. Good and destroyed, just in case. The other one she was talking with her to let Andrew poke at.

It was a dark area, there was no grass around. Burn it down, make sure it wasn't coming back. She wasn't about to leave this mess behind for someone to find. Not everyone here was use to this kind of stuff, and she didn't want to freak some innocent person out.

He got the message easily enough. While Leah looked over the one he'd just killed, he relieved her of the lighter and headed towards the headless one laying on the sidewalk. The head was kicked towards the body, rolling up to lay between the arm and the side.

Flicking open the lighter, he crouched down beside it. He hesitated just to get a better look at it in the meager light from the lighter. The demon wasn't something he'd seen before but if they belonged with the Gentlemen, he had no doubt they'd be seeing more.

An accelerant would have been nice but they had to make do with what they had. After taking a moment to check and make sure no one else was around, he lit the cloth and rose to his feet, stepping back. Flicking the lighter shut, he held it back behind him to her.

She took the lighter and slipped it back into her belt when it was offered. Glancing behind her, she watched the creature go up into flames. Sighing soundlessly, she moved a little closer, and then positioned herself over the creature to lift it up effortlessly. It took her a few tries to get the body over her shoulders in a comfortable way without getting too much blood on it.

Dead demon on her back, she turned to look at the other burning one. Leah found herself looking down at the fire, before glancing up at Lindsey. She'd have to wait until she was sure nothing was going to catch on fire around it. Not that it looked like much would, but she had to be careful.

Then she had a demon to hand over to a watcher. With any luck after that, way to kill the Gentlemen would eventually be found. She pointed to the demon, and then back to the building, to let Lindsey know she was going to be taking the thing back there.

Catching the motion, Lindsey waved Leah on. No sense in the girl standing around with a demon on her back, in case someone happened to wander by. He pointed to himself, then at the demon. I'll stand by and make sure nothing happens. Not that he expected it to. The minion was dead. Worst that could happen now would be the Gentlemen wandering by or a random passerby.

He then nodded towards the buildings, indicating that she should get that thing to wherever she planned to carry it. She seemed like she could handle it well enough on her own. He stuck his hands in his jacket pockets and crouched down, away from the flames.

She looked at him for a moment, hesitant to just leave him here alone. The Gentlemen could be on their way. But he had handled himself. No point in arguing with him. It would just a bunch of annoyed hand gestures and maybe some fighting over who got to write on the pad of paper.

Adjusting the weight of the creature again, she turned away from the fire, and started her trip back. With any luck she didn't scare anyone with a the dead body of a demon. Yeah, Andrew was going to love her for bringing a dead thing to his room. Or maybe not.
