Nick couldn't help but smile. There was just something about the girl that awoke protective instincts inside him. She was so young, but there was something older too and he thought that she might, perhaps, understand him. He didn't doubt she avoided sleep for the same reasons he did, and he felt a kinship there. He'd have to make sure Stephen met her properly.
"Milady," he said in a teasing tone at the curtsy, bowing in return. It was a little ridiculous, but he couldn't bring himself to care. It was hardly as if anyone was around to see him make a fool of himself, and he doubted Meg would judge him. She didn't seem the sort.
