If anyone were to ask Rachel Virginia Gatina exactly what her thoughts were on their displacement in time for that whole damn month - because Rachel knew it was a month now that she had her calendar back - she would have a very simple answer for them. "It sucked more than she or a Hoover ever hoped they could." Then again, no one ever really called Rachel a lady... or said she didn't say exactly what she meant unless it was to manipulate someone into doing her bidding. Because if that were the case, Rachel could play head games and twist people's words with the best of them. And if someone asked her if she'd ever want to go back, that answer would be a resounding "no". Rachel never wanted to set foot in the past ever again. It would end in her being tied to a burning stake or something. She was certain of it. And now that she was back in her own time, Rachel was lounging away on her couch. She was trying desperately not to think about what happened with Cooper in the past (both the literal past and their own history with each other), having taken advantage of a hot shower and coffee everyday since they got back from where ever the hell. She'd lounged out on the couch and her bed, gone to work, come back and had the best freaking fried food ever. Yes, she indulged. Maybe a little too much, but Rachel knew she could splurge. Her job kept her weight down easily. But still, even after uncorking a good bottle of champagne she'd bought and sitting there drinking, she couldn't chase that damn racecar driver from her thoughts. It wasn't like she'd planned on what happened between them in the past (again, both the literal past and their own history with each other). And ever since that day, she'd spent time with him, but tried to keep it to a minimum. She didn't want to end up the girl she'd been after their last break up, and that couldn't happen if they weren't dating, right? Yes, Rachel knew she was deluding herself at the moment, but no, that didn't seem to stop her from trying. |
