who: the camelot gang [ and anyone else they invite ]
what: celebrating christmas
where: gwen & arthur's room
when: christmas day
notes: tobias is welcome since i just realized these are his rooms too. merlin is sorry for constantly breaking in an never introducing himself.

Merlin decided he liked this Christmas stuff. Maybe he didn't understand it all -- he still couldn't figure out how Santa Claus figured into the birth of a baby because he was pretty sure they didn't talk about a big guy in a red suit in the Jesus story -- or what the nine candle thing he bought was for except that it was part of the holiday season as well (menorah or something like that), but no matter. The traditions were still fun. It was an all day thing, just like the solstice back home, spent cooking and just enjoying the company of your family and friends. Morgana had agreed, and he probably could have waited for her, but he was excited -- And it was breakfast time!

Never mind the constant habit of breaking and entering. It was just Arthur and Gwen's apartment, right? They didn't care. Plus, he'd be quiet. He set a few gifts under the tree Gwen decorated. (He was glad it made her happy because he'd nearly killed himself trying to lug that thing around, and nearly took a few strangers out when attempting to do it with magic. Still, it had been worth it.)

He already knew what they had in the way of food, and went shopping the day before for anything else they might need. Some of it Merlin could cook, his job was coming in handy that way, and Gwen would have to help him later with dinner. He doubted she would mind. Anyways, he could make all sorts of breakfast food just fine, it was an easy meal. Pancakes with chocolate chips and blueberries on the side to be added in occasionally. Bacon with eggs to follow once they started to wake up. Orange juice and milk in the fridge, he found hot chocolate mix in the store too. He even managed to be sort of quiet, as per the plan, only clanging the pans once, and dropping small items that made very little noise.

Oh, and was it mentioned that Merlin had not only worn a too-big santa hat, propped up by and emphasizing his ears, with a green and red reindeer tie that lit up at the nose, and played jingle bells through his belt loops, and started cooking after hanging mistletoe over the door way because he was told standing under it with someone was 'good luck'? Well he was and he did.

KITCHEN ( that merlin is NOT burning down)

Anyways, so he had the whole counter set up. One section had his pancake batter, chocolate chip bag, blueberries, syrup, plates, butter...The other side had snacks for through out the day; fruit and veggie platter thing, chips, something called chex mix and cheeze-its, candy canes, and supplies to make cookies later.

His first attempt at a pancake, which he had a little enough experience making, ended up more on the scrambled eggs spectrum that he preferred to label bite sized. On the up side though, they did get better from there. Merlin even managed a perfectly round one now and then. All of which ended up on a plate under aluminum foil to keep warm.

Morgana had smiled, amused, by Merlin's obviously excited message on the boards. Looking forward to the day spent with her friends. She had been just getting out of bed when she had recieved his message. Morgana had just been coming out of the shower when a thought occurred to her. Did Merlin even know how to make breakfast? She recalled his eventful ... attempt at potions. Letting out a small curse, the Lady quickly dressed.

She had come to care a lot for Merlin. And the male had a lot of talents and he was a fantastic friend. However, the chances of him burning something irreparably or accidentally poisoning were far to high to overlook.

Hair still wet, Morgana pulled it into a messy bun as she rushed to Arthur's and Gwen's place. Knocking on the door. She tried the handle and found it easy to open. "Merlin?" She called out. She smelt something. Nothing burning, thankfully enough. She followed the smell to the kitchen. A slightly a bemused expression, mixed with a hint of fondness, crossed over her features. "Is it going well? The breakfast." She clarified, as she walked further into the room.

Merlin looked around at hearing his name, but when he didn't seen anyone just went back to his cooking, very determined not to burn anything. He was rubbish at potions, but he had learned to cook since being here. At least a little. Working in a restaurant helped, and he'd specifically asked some friends at work to help him so today would be perfect. So far, things were looking pretty good. He'd messed up a few, and most of them were kind of oddly shaped, but they tasted good. That's what mattered.

Morgana came into the kitchen and spoke again, and this time Merlin smiled at her. "Morgana! That was fast." He hadn't expected her or Lancelot to be up and over so quick. "What? Oh, yes! It's not bad. I can't always get them nice and round, but they taste good."

Merlin offered the plate so she could try one herself and deem it good or not. They were certainly fluffy, in odd shapes, with occasional spots in some of them from either blueberries or the chocolate chips, and all still warm under the aluminum foil lid.

"I've learned how to be a speedy dresser." Was all she said. Which in a way was a given. Since none of the modern clothing required the necessary hub-bub that not only came with wearing a gown but with dressing for a banquet and being the king's ward. Dressing in this time was simple and straightforward, things she wasn't overly accustomed with but found that she was learning how to appreciate.

"The shape doesn't matter, Merlin." She said, sincerely. So long as they're edible, was what she thought. However, what she said, as she gave him a small, warm small. Grateful for the delicious scent and his effort .. what she said was, "It's the effort that counts."

They did look good though. Odd shapes and all. Morgana carefully took one, between too fingers, letting it cool a bit more, before breaking off a piece with her other hand and popping it into her mouth. It was ... surprisingly good. It was good in general. But the surprise of that did help in her savoring it, "Mmm." She said, chewing before taking another piece, nodding at Merlin her approval. "It's good." She said after swallowing. "I've never had them with anything in them before." She's had pancakes a few times. The Eggo kind and they were always buttermilk flavored. "These are delicious, Merlin." She said honestly.

The fact that she was willing to try them was a good sign, and Merlin stopped his cooking long enough to watch her reaction. She looked surprised at first, which he supposed could go either way, but quickly seemed pleased with it. He was all but beaming when she took another bite and complimented him on them. He set the plate down again, close enough that she could take more if she wanted, and went back to flipping the pancakes. Once he'd gotten a few more of them done, he also put a pan on for bacon as well, which he had been warned was slightly more dangerous. When they'd made it at work, the bacon had popped and burned if you got too close because of the fat or something.

"I also have eggs, but they get cold fast, so they can wait till the others are up." He explained. "There is plenty of food for today, and I heard there is a parade on the tv, and christmas movies...It'll be a good day." Merlin figured they needed that. Gwen especially and Arthur. So all of them together, it would be good. He would see to that. Aside from possibly blowing up the kitchen, and he was almost certain he could avoid that, what could go wrong?

"It will." Morgana agreed. "Thank you, Merlin. For setting this day up for everyone." Morgana paused for a moment before continuing, blue eyes looking directly at the man that she had come to call friend in this place, "For Gwen. I think that it will really help in her recovery. I know it will certainly make her happy." Then her mouth quirked, turning the conversation into something a bit lighter, "I know it'll amuse her to see Arthur with a tinsel crown. Something that I am determined to make happen." With a slight raise of her head, and a slightly wider smirk, it was quite obvious that it would happen and on that day. Morgana was quite good at getting on what she was determined to get.

With that she popped another piece of the pancake into her mouth.

Merlin smiled softly at her and gave a small nod because he'd been thinking the same thing. His grin grew a bit wider at the idea of Arthur with a tinsel crown. At least the tinsel would be put to good use then, and seeing Arthur -- it'd be hilarious at the least. "I'll help. If you can make it, I'm sure I could get it on his head."

He placed another two pancakes on the plate, laying out the batter for two more, and set to carefully flipping the bacon as well. It popped, startling him briefly, and he tried again standing at arms length after turning the heat down a bit.

"There is orange juice in the fridge if your thirsty, and syrup for the pancakes..." He offered. "Lancelot is supposed to be coming over too..."

"Oh, I'll make it." Morgana said, the laughter quite obvious in her voice, even though she managed to control it for the moment.

Morgana looked at the bacon, her brows raising slightly at the bacon, taking a step back herself as she had been right next to Merlin. That looked dangerous. She was about to thank Merlin for the food and about to get it when he mentioned Lancelot. Of course he had invited Lancelot. Morgana had her reservations about the man. Mostly because he was obviously interested in Gwen and Morgana wanted her friend with her practically-brother. Not to mention all the legends about his seducing Gwen did nothing to endear the witch to him. However, Merlin considered him a friend. And Morgana trusted him. "That's nice." Was what she said, her tone obviously neutral. "I haven't seen much of him. I know Gwen will be happy to see him. Arthur as well."

Finishing up her pancake, she looked to him, "I should go and wake them up. Especially since we're going to have another arrival."

Merlin could tell she wasn't as fond of Lancelot as he was. They didn't know each other as well, and Morgana had been the only one Merlin had confided in when he'd learned that Lancelot and Gwen might have an affair at some point. However, that had been before -- well. Merlin trusted Lancelot, and cared for the other male as surely as he cared for Arthur, Gwen, and Morgana. The stories couldn't be right on everything after all. They implied that Morgana wanted Arthur dead, and that obviously wasn't true.

"I haven't seen him lately either. It kind of worries me, but he should be by." I hope. There hadn't been any response yet, but Merlin decided he just hadn't woken up yet. He just nodded when she suggested waking Gwen and Arthur up. Should he mention he invited Conner, an almost complete stranger, to come by as well? He'd just felt so bad cause he'd liked the guy, and he was on his own...Nah. If he came by Merlin would just introduce him then.

Morgana nodded, but she didn't say anything. She supposed that she should give Lancelot a chance. He did seem like a good man. And those stories ... they were turning out to be just that. Fanciful, ridiculous, stories. Their disaster and pain, were no where near the contentment they'd managed to fine. Sure their lives weren't perfect, that fear demon and what had happened to Gwen, showed that. However, they weren't all killing each other, or broken and separated. They were united. They were together and that was what drove Morgana to say what she said next. Separation very easily bred discontent. "Today will be good for him too. I hope he decides to come." She ventured. And meant it.

"I'll be back right back with at least Gwen in tow." Morgana said with a small smile. Walking towards Gwen and Arthur's bedroom, Morgana took in the decorations. Today would really would be a good day. She was looking forward to all of this. Making it to their bedroom, Morgana opened the door. She stood there watching them sleep. They looked so content, at peace. They deserved it. The both of them. It was good to see Gwen so relaxed. And Arthur ... it had been a while since she'd seen Arthur at rest. He looked like they did when they were children. Adorable. Not that she'd ever tell him that, but she liked seeing him like this. To imagine people thought that she could ever hurt him. Ever hurt either of them. There was no one she loved in the world the way she loved those two.

It was almost a shame to ruin it. Tilting her head up, Morgana leaned forward into the room a bit more. Watching them. "Arthur?" She tried, softly. Quietly. "Gwen?" Nothing. That way she could say she tried.

She'd done this to him a few times. He more to her. The little pain. Running, Morgana jumped once and landed perfectly on the bed. Hopping a few times, "Wake up, the both of you. It's time to wake up, Merlin's made us all breakfast. And Lancelot maybe coming. Wake up. It's Christmas." With one last hop she fell to her knees between them, amusement clear o her face as she awaited for them to awake.

"What in the he-" Arthur groggily shot awake, sitting before his eyes were open, hands groping at air where usually...Except here. He blinked the sleep from his eyes and scowled. "-Morgana, get out."

Except she'd said something about Merlin and cooking and Lancelot and what the hell was Christmas? Arthur ruffled his hair and reached over for Guinevere to make sure she hadn't fallen off the bed when Morgana had all but pounced on them. It wasn't the first time she had done it to him, but it certainly was a first here.

"Is it edible?"

"Is that anyway to speak to someone who has made the kind effort to wake you up, Arthur?" Morgana smirked, deliberately bouncing a bit closer to him, giving him a shove for good measure. Careful not to bounce dear Gwen off of the bed. "Not to mention, your surly manner doesn't make me want to listen to you."

Settling once more, Morgana nodded. The slight surprise visible on her features still. She'd had her concerns and worries about Merlin and his cooking but he'd taken care of all that. "More then actually. His pancakes, at least, have managed to be delicious, if a bit misshapen."

She could feel a heavy weight on the bed, bouncing slightly. Groaning quietly, she listened to Morgana's excited words before burrying her face in the pillow. She was worse than a child. She felt Arthur reach for her and instead of moving to curl up beside him in hope for more sleep she stayed still. She was not moving any time soon.

Almost immediately after receiving Merlin's message, Lancelot had made himself look presentable and hurried to Arthur's living quarters. Admittedly, he couldn't help but flinch at Merlin's description; Arthur and Gwen's room. But then, what was he to expect? He had known Gwen's feelings for the prince, he had known he could never compete with the likes of Arthur, and never could allow himself to do so anyway. Then he had been, for all intents and purposes, absent for months. There was so much he didn't know, and though he intended to learn much of it today, he could not have possibly expected Guinevere to remain alone until his return.

No, whatever it was that he and Guinevere may have once shared, however brief... it was over now. He had lost her, and he would not get another chance. He had to accept that and move on. And perhaps this breakfast was one way to begin. After all, Merlin always helped to lift his spirits, and he had not yet let him down.

Lancelot sighed softly and knocked on the door.

Merlin finished up the last of the bacon and turned the heat off, putting the plate in the oven to keep warm. The pancakes went into the microwave covered in foil for the same reason. Now he just had to wait for everyone so he could start on the eggs. So far so good. Nothing burnt or on fire. All the food tasted good. Then a knock at the door.

He beamed as he pulled open the door and caught sight of Lancelot. Merlin, in his too-big santa hat and flushed from the heat of the kitchen looked, admittedly, kind of funny. Just the sort of thing if you needed some cheering up. "Lancelot! Merry Christmas!"

Merlin was more then a little relieved to see him. Lancelot had been so quiet lately, and not around when Merlin came to bother him. "I'm almost finished with breakfast. There are presents, and anyways - It's good to see you!"

His had been right about Merlin not letting him down. It was literally impossible not to crack a smile at the sight that awaited him. With all the fondness in the world, he laughed and looked up at the ridiculous hat. "What in God's name is that thing?"

He clasped his hands behind his back, momentarily dropping in mood again. "Merry Christmas, Merlin. I'm happy to see you as well, but er... I'm afraid I did not think to bring gifts. My mind has been so full as of late."

Merlin grinned and hit the little white poof at the end of his hat. "A Santa hat. There is a story of big man in a red suit who gives gifts on christmas." He liked the hat. It was soft and amusing, and it got a smile out of Lancelot.

"That's alright. You're here. That's what matters." He looked a little concerned because Lancelot didn't appear in the best of moods. Merlin remembered their last chat though, and assumed it was because of Gwen and Arthur. "Do you want a hat?"

Merlin dug a hand into his pocket, pulling out a brightly colored Christmas cracker. The tubes were wrapped in paper, and would pop when opened, usually giving you a paper hat of some kind. "Take the other end and pull."

'You're here, that's what matters.' A little bit of the chill in Lancelot's heart gained warmth again. Merlin was a good friend, and he genuinely cared about him. If he remembered that, this might be much easier to get through.

"Sure," he agreed, the smile appearing again. He did as Merlin instructed and pulled. There was a loud snap, and Lancelot blinked down into his hand to find the large end of the tube. "Er... how does one wear this as a hat?"

Merlin laughed and pulled the the colored paper from the inside of the tube. A light blue paper crown. He unfolded the small hat, reaching up to place it on top of Lancelot's head. It was silly, and would likely rip before dinner. Still it was fun, and it got him looking cheerful again. They could have a proper talk later, but for now he wanted everyone to be happy.

"There you go!" He grinned. "I have all sorts of these. There was a whole display of holiday things at the shop. I bought cookie cutters, the candle thing, these crackers, and -" Merlin paused and glanced up at the plant hanging above them, blushing slightly. "Ah, and the mistletoe."

Lancelot was certain the flimsy, silly thing was not very knightly at all. But it seemed to please Merlin, and somehow did make him feel a little more lighthearted. So he left it in its place and listened with rising spirits while Merlin talked excitedly of all that he had done and gathered for the holiday. In that moment, Lancelot began to feel like a bit of a fool. After all, Merlin was in the same boat he was, wasn't he? In love with the one person he couldn't have.

And yet, Merlin was not running away from it. He wasn't even letting it dampen his spirits anymore, apparently. Lancelot was supposed to be the one worthy of knighthood here? He was sure Merlin was the strongest, most courageous man he knew.

He cleared his throat and looked upward. "Mistletoe? I have heard of the plant used for medicines... may I ask why it is on the ceiling?"

He laughed a little, but mostly looked embarrassed. Merlin supposed he could have stepped away, but instead he just sort of rolled back and forth on his heels. "It's silly. The lady at the shop said it was good luck to hang in in the door way."

Which was true. It was why he bought it in the first place, and it's not his fault the girl lied to him or decided a wink after saying so was enough of an explanation of the sort of luck it was meant to bring. "But Morgana looked it up...Apparently it's luck is in that -- well, traditionally you're supposed to kiss if you stand under it." Merlin was making a point to stare at any point around Lancelot's head or the troublesome mistletoe itself. "It's silly really..."

Well, that hadn't exactly been what Lancelot was expected. His first thought was to question whoever could have come up with such a strange tradition. His second thought was that he wanted to thank them.

And his third was that he had absolutely no idea where the second had come from. Only that Merlin was giving him this endearing little smile, cheeks all aflame, and he had made Lancelot stop thinking about Guinevere for an entire minute, for the first time in months.

The initial shock of such thoughts coursed through him, and he shook his head and dryly laughed. "There are odd customs in this world," he commented, now also effectively avoiding Merlin's eyes as well. Why, he wasn't sure. After all... what did one small kiss really mean? It didn't have to mean anything. Two friends may kiss in parting, or in greeting, even as a token of gratitude. When it came to Merlin, Lancelot had a lot to be grateful for, didn't he? "Well... part of the Knight's Code is that one must always respect the customs in a foreign land, when one is visiting. However strange."

He looked up at Merlin again, finally, eyebrows raised just slightly and his own cheeks probably tinged even through their natural darkness. He started to lean forward, and his mind went curiously blank.

Merlin hadn't expect much more then the laugh Lancelot had given. They could laugh and step out from under the odd plant, and pretend Merlin hadn't gone a ridiculous shade of red as if he'd actually considered anything else. He'd been prepared to agree, odd customs indeed. Of course, that was until the other cited the Knight's Code to him. He couldn't possibly mean -?

Looking at Lancelot this time, not the spot on the wall behind him, or the odd blue crown Merlin had placed on his head, he noticed the faint blush. Maybe it wasn't totally silly, and obviously - whether he'd admit it or not - he'd made no move to step away from Lancelot as he'd explained, but then Lancelot hadn't moved away either. It was just one kiss. For traditions sake, and he did like Lancelot. The other had helped him before when he'd been upset, had kept his secrets, Merlin had even trusted Lancelot where he hadn't trusted Arthur...

But he was over thinking all of this way too much, and Lancelot was suddenly very close. The next thing he knew he'd leaned in as well, and their lips had met, and he really didn't care how or why. Though he may have to invest in buying more mistletoe later.

He'd known he'd had that thought a minute ago about this only needing to be something brief, something between friends, just something to say thanks. But the moment their lips had touched, Lancelot knew that wasn't going to be the case. He hadn't expected it to feel like this. He hadn't known... hadn't even really begun to consider. But oh, he was considering it now.

For the first few seconds, which seemed to stretch for a much longer time, Lancelot just stayed perfectly still, Merlin's lips under his, lost on what to do next. He was at an impass. He knew he wasn't backing away. But what did it mean to let the kiss flourish? If he moved, if he pressed in farther, if he even let himself breathe... what did it mean?

And was it even alright? Lancelot had always tried to be a gentleman, he tried to be polite and considerate. Was this something Merlin wanted? Was he simply too kind of a friend to magic Lancelot into a wall? The questions pounded through his mind and were impossible to ignore. So finally, slowly, he withdrew enough to look Merlin in the eyes, hoping it was clear that his own were seeking permission. If Merlin wanted to duck away, laugh that ridiculous laugh of his and pass all this off as a little bit of holiday fun, this would be his chance.

But he did no such thing. He only stared back. So Lancelot took that as sign enough to tuck all the questions aside to battle later. Now, he brought his hands up to cradle his friend's flushed cheeks, and leaned in again, hoping to actually let himself feel it this time, without the cacophony of uncertainties.

He didn't know what he expected, but this certainly wasn't it. A quick peck on the cheek at first, maybe on the lips, but no less brief. Something that would happen then they'd step inside, and laugh about silly holiday traditions. Then they would have breakfast, and things would continue like normal. After all, they were just friends. Each with their own affections for someone else, that they (at least Merlin) kept masochistically close, even though they knew there was no chance with that person.

Instead the kiss lasted, and when Lancelot pulled back it seemed too soon. He couldn't make himself move, and he might have spoken but the words caught in his throat along with his breath and heartbeat. Had he stopped time without realizing it? Because Lancelot was staring at him for what felt like an eternity before his hands cupped Merlin's cheeks. Merlin was surprised, but more then willing. He pressed their lips together, a little more certainty behind it this time. Any confusion, or coherent thoughts at all were forgotten. Never mind that Morgana, Arthur, and Gwen were only a room away being coaxed out of the room for a breakfast that Merlin was meant to be cooking.

Misshapen pancakes were a better option than burnt toast, Arthur knew that all too well and if he wasn't entirely mistaken, which was rare and nearly impossible, he smelled bacon frying as well. Ignoring Morgana's smug expression was easy when he stood and threw on his discarded trousers from the day before.

The knock on the front door took him by surprise, as he was fairly certain everyone who should be there was already, but didn't bother checking on it. Merlin would do that well enough. Quiet talking could be heard and then laughter, but soon even that stopped.

He glanced from Morgana to Gwen and sighed. "Wake her, would you? I'm going to go and see who that was."

And having said that, he reached for the bedroom door and stepped out into the shared sitting room.

Morgana rolled her eyes at Arthur's retreating form before turning her attention on her best friend. "Wake up, Gwen. I know you can hear me." She peered over, but carefuly away from, her friend. For all she knew Gwen was a bigger grump than Arthur in the morning. Things were typically they other way around. It was Gwen who came to tend to her when she'd just woken up, back in Camelot. She'd never been in a position to wake Gwen up so she didn't know what kind of person she was in the morning.

"Think of the pancakes and bacon and all the other treats. You don't want the boys to eat it all, do you? Think of the coffee." Morgana had become a bit of an addict since arriving. Though she preferred black tea a bit more, coffee with two lumps of sugar and the right balance of milk could make her toes curl in delight.

Gwen felt Arthur move and it took a lot of her will power not to turn and watch him. But then Morgana was leaning over her, speaking to her. When she mentioned all the foor she sighed. If the two of them didn't get out this room soon the boys really would just eat it all. Not that she would mind all that much, Merlin could do with eating a fair bit more, but she still would quite like something to eat.

"Right, okay, I'm awake," she said as she pushed herself up to sit.

She brushed down her curls down, knowing they probably were everywhere right now before standing, pulling the shirt that belonged to Arthur that she wore to bed down over her trousers a little more.

"Come on then, my Lady," she said with a sigh, yawning and stretching before once again pulling the shirt down more. "I take it I must wait until later to put some proper clothing on?"

Morgana quirked a slight brow and looked at her friend with an amused expression. "Only if you wish." She said, before her tone became deliberately light. "It won't only be the for of us. Merlin also invited Lancelot." She wasn't sure what Gwen's status with the knight was. All Morgana knew was that he hadn't been around when his friend's had needed him. Oddly enough. She didn't judge him for that. She imagined that it couldn't have been easy to see the girl that you wanted choose the other man, especially when said other man was your princes. And if he was even a little bit like Arthur and his other merry men he likely went off to see if he could find something to kill. Loosing track of time and common sense. Likely leaving them behind at the entrance of that forest. "And who knows who else." Morgana's tone returned to amused. It was Merlin. She wouldn't have been surprised if he'd made a friend on his way from the apartments to the market and had invited them over.

It wasn't quite like kissing Guinevere had been. Well, obviously- Guinevere had pulled away. But even given the brief moment before she had, Lancelot knew, this was different. Not a bad different, by any means. Though not quite a good different either. All Lancelot knew was that he liked it, and it felt like everything he'd come to know from Merlin; caring, and determined, and a little bit magical.

He was so caught up, so trapped in a moment he had never even seen coming, that it took some time before his senses to the world beyond Merlin sparked up again. When they did, a noise from the other side of the room registered vaguely. The kiss began to dwindle of its own natural accord, and finally, Lancelot found it within him to turn his head. What he saw prompted him to stumble backward immediately, eyes wide and heart very nearly stopping. "Y-your highness! I had not noticed you there. I er-- merry Christmas, Sire."

"I'm going back to bed," came Arthur's muffled answer as he dragged a hand down his face. The world could go mad without him. He peered through his fingers at Merlin and Lancelot and decided yes, most definitely, this was going to be one of those days and it would be best to leave well enough alone while retaining his sanity.

"Merry Christmas."

Arthur turned and walked back into the bedroom.

Gwen was scraping her hair back a little and looking for a clasp to hold it when she heard the door opening. Glancing over, she let the curls fall again, frowning a little at Arthur.

"I thought you were going through?" she said before realising he probably wouldn't give her an answer to that. "Who was at the door?"

She vaguely remembered him saying that was where he was going.

Morgana too was frowning at Arthur, "Arthur what is it?" She asked. He had that look on his face. The one where it looked like that he quite believed that the sky was falling and he wanted nothing to do with it's shenanigans, so please kindly call him back when it finally decided to stop. Whenever he had that look, Morgana tended to believe that he was being over-dramatic about whatever it was. She had a feeling that it wouldn't be any different now.

Rather than waiting for him to answer, she got up off of the bed he shared with her best friend, and walked around him to his bedroom door. She looked to Merlin's face, to Lancelot. And Morgana, ever the intelligent one, had the sense to look up. Huh. Interesting. She quite easily controlled the smirk that was mentally occurring as she made not to take out and work on what she was currently mentally filing away for a later date. Which really ranged from anything between the next three seconds and the next month. Her plans were formed so easily. And for the most part they worked very well.

"Merry Christmas, Lancelot." Morgana said, in such a manner that would suggest that she hadn't just figured out that he had been kissing a good friend of hers. "Have Merlin show you his pancakes. You should have some, they're quite delicious." She said, her expression friendly enough. "Forgive our tardiness, we should all," The all for Arthur's benefit, "be out shortly." With that she closed the door.

"It was a shame that I had to miss that sight." She said, mostly to herself, but loud enough for Arthur and Gwen to hear. Deliberately so.

When their kiss had ended, and Merlin was able to think and consider his feelings on this turn of events, instead lingering on the idea of stealing away from the rooms, even if only briefly, to find if Lancelot -- Merlin wasn't sure. To assure himself he hadn't imagined the almost tender way his cheeks had been held, lifted into a second kiss, when just one would have been enough between friends, and two made him wonder hope that they may be something more. Before he could even step into the hall though, for questions or even just to steal another kiss, Lancelot stumbled back, away from him and spoke.

Your highness!

Merlin didn't blush immediately, nor did he make an effort to look up. All the color drained from his cheeks by the time he did glance over to see Arthur's back returning to the bed room. It would be Arthur. His mind went blank, as if to save his sanity from crumbling under all the frantic, foolish thoughts sure to start any moment. Like the conflicting desire to ignore Arthur's appearance, and simply continue on his former train of thought elsewhere -- and the ridiculous feeling that some how he'd been dishonest or disloyal maybe? If not to Arthur, then to himself because hadn't he admitted (for the most part) to Lancelot about caring for Arthur, and instead he now was more then happy to explore that brief moment they'd shared over a silly holiday tradition?

Morgana emerged from the room in time enough to keep his head from exploding because he worried too much and was over thinking things. She also helped restoring the flow of blood to his brain, as he promptly turned a stunning shade of scarlet again, nodding weakly to whatever it is she said, uninterested because he knew she had already worked out what happened.

Merlin moved to lead Lancelot in to the kitchen, almost forgetting himself and grabbing the other's hand, remembering quick enough that only their fingertip brushed together for a second. He retrieved the pancakes, setting them out for Lancelot to try, while attempting to decide what to say that wouldn't sound completely stupid, and coming up short.

"Not a word, Morgana," Arthur warned a fraction of a second too late to actually stop her from giving her opinion. He wasn't ready to think about it, much less face it head on that his--that Merlin and then Lancelot. Arthur squeezed his eyes shut and sank down onto the bed, glaring hard at the floor.

He wasn't idiotic enough to think there had been pressure on either side for it. Lancelot was far too...Lancelot and Merlin was well, dimmer than an unlit candle came to mind, but regardless they had been

It wasn't like he cared that they had been

Arthur buried his face in his hands and sighed.

Gwen looked on in confusion, her eyes not leaving Arthur as Morgana looked out the bedroom door. When he sat down she frowned before taking the few steps forward, sitting next to him.

"Arthur, what's wrong?"

She had vaguely heard Morgana mention Lancelot's name, so clearly that was who had just arrived. But why would that make Arthur react in this way? Glancing up at Morgana for some explanation, she placed a hand on Arthur's thigh before looking back to him.

"What's going on?"

Arthur moved to cover her hand with is, lifting it from his thigh to kiss the back of her knuckles.

"It's unimportant. Morgana, why don't you go. We'll be out in a few moments."

He couldn't have given her a clearer dismissal without cursing and all he wanted was a few minutes to fix his expression into something less shocked and confused and more normal, at least bored. After all, he shouldn't have been as affected as he had been.

Morgana arched a brow at Arthur and looked at him with an expression that was nearing 'you've got to be kidding me'. First he cut her off before she could answer Gwen and then he was telling her to go. The nerve of him. Who did he think he was. She never let him tell her what to do in Camelot, order or suggestion or otherwise, muchless here.

However, Morgana was keen enough to think upon the situation. And she realized that both Merlin and Lancelot might not appreciate her telling someone. Even if that someone else was Gwen. Then again, they mightn't appreciate it because that someone else was Gwen. It was out of respect for Merlin that she gave her friend a small smile-that very much neared apologetic-and said, "You'll have to ask Merlin that." Rather than ignoring Arthur just to spite him.

Give Arthur another look, this one much more unreadable, she simply said, "Don't take too long." Before walking out, closing the door behind her with a very audible click.

Both for her irritation with Arthur and as warning to the boys in the kitchen that she was arriving.
