WHO: Brooke and Rachel, CLOSED
WHAT: BFFs reunited
WHEN: Just after Rachel's post to the network
WHERE: Outside the library
RATING: TBD

Brooke hurried out of her apartment, clothes in hand. She couldn't believe Rachel was here.

And much as it would suck for Rachel, she was kinda excited about having one of her closest friends here. Lucas was amazing, but sometimes, Brooke needed some girl time.

She was so focused on getting to Rachel she wasn't thinking about the whole sick thing. Which was starting to worry her a little now. Having something else to think about was great.

She turned onto the street where the library was, grinning when she saw Rachel.

She walked up to her. "You know, if you weren't such a slut, you wouldn't be feeling so cold," she said, grinning.

Rachel had never really been one to count on luck in her life. Her parents didn't want her, she didn't really make many friends because she never knew how long she'd be in a place, and her love life really sucked. But then there was Brooke Davis. She'd been the one person that stuck with her through everything, even after having to fire her. She still took care of her and made sure she got better after overdosing. She'd offered her a chance to return to the job she loved so much, working up to get back to it the right way. And then her mother had stepped in and told Rachel that there was no redeeming her. That she was nothing but trash. So Rachel had split. She hadn't wanted to bring Brooke down.

After rehab and getting a job, Rachel had settled in to a little apartment. She stopped taking money from her parents and earned it herself. It didn't change who she was, just how she looked at some things. But then again, coming home from work one night, she hadn't expected to be yanked out of where she was and brought to this strange place. A place that Brooke was. Maybe it was fate. Maybe it was luck. Either way, maybe her views on God's boredom with them needed a change.

As she stood there, rubbing her arms, she saw Brooke pull up and couldn't help the smile that crossed her features. Her best friend. One out of three people who had ever really mattered in her entire life. And she was coming for her all over again.

"What can I say, at least I'm not a fat ass." She grinned at the friendly barbs, immediately wrapping the brunette in a hug. "I've missed you, Brooke Davis."

Brooke was so glad to see Rachel. She'd been her only link to home in New York, and it was so good to see her again.

Brooke gave her a fake offended look. "Bitch."

She grinned and hugged Rachel tightly. "Oh, I missed you too," she said.

She pulled back and held out a sweater to her. "Here," she said. "I have a scarf and warmer jacket for you, too," she said.

Rachel took the sweater from Brooke and practically ripped it trying to get it over her head after she had dropped her jacket. The scarf came next and then the jacket was thrown over.

Immediately Rachel felt warmer. "Brooke Davis, you might very well be a saint." Well... compared to Rachel anyway. "Even if you are a tramp."

Brooke grinned. "I think that's the first time I've ever been called a saint," she said.

"I can top it all off with some nice hot coffee," she added. "My apartment isn't far from here. We could go there and warm up and then go find yours?" she suggested.

A hot cup of coffee and a warm apartment? Oh hell yes. Rachel could definitely be down for that. But then there'd be the talk of where she came from, what was going on back home... and she hated to tell Brooke that Lucas was engaged to some blonde bimbo who happened to be an extension of his book staff. Rachel didn't know what she did, publisher, editor, what the hell ever, but she knew Brooke probably wouldn't like it.

"Compared to me, Brooke Davis, you are a saint. Suck it. Take the title with pride. I'll be the devil a little while longer."

Brooke laughed. "Come on, my place is this way," she said, linking her arm with Rachel's and starting to walk towards Building C.

She smiled, it was so good to see another familiar face.

"You're gonna have to tell me everything about what's happening back home," she said. "Has Victoria totally taken over Clothes Over Bros? Well, of course she has, what am I saying. I bet she's loving having it all to herself."

"I don't really know what your mother is doing. I split when she told me I was holding you back," Rachel replied. "But let's see... from what I remember, before I left, you and Peyton were doing well. I'm stripping now. Makes good money." She shrugged, as if it were no big deal. Really, to Rachel, it wasn't. Brooke had mentioned a pole when she came in to audition for a spot on the cheer team... apparently a pole was exactly what she'd needed to bring in the dough.

Brooke's brow furrowed. None of that made any sense.

"What do you mean, stripping?" she asked. "You work for me. You're one of my models. What did Victoria say to you?" she asked, angrily. God, she hated that woman.

Rachel chuckled softly. "I... haven't been one of your models in about a year," she admitted, running a hand through her hair. "You got fed up. The photographers said I was too damn difficult to work with. And then you fired me. At some point, I got hooked on heroin." She rubbed at the track marks on the inside of her elbow. "You and Owen found me overdosed in your apartment and you brought me back to Tree Hill and said I could start back from the ground up at Clothes Ova Bros. And then Victoria said that I was basically trash and simply holding you back."

Brooke stared at her, completely confused for a couple of seconds.

"What? I fired you? Heroin?"

And then she remembered something. "Oh, God, you're from a different timeline than me," she realised. "People get taken here from tons of different times and places, and you're ahead of where I was."

"Are you okay?" she asked her, really worried about her friend. And kind of guilty that she hadn't been there for her.

"A different timeline? You mean we're all just kinda, ganked from where ever? Well that sucks." She snorted, shaking her head. As if things didn't suck enough as a whole, but at least she had her best friend back. That was always a good thing.

"I'm alright, Brooke. I made my way in the best way I knew how and I made enough money to get by. I'm tough, remember?"
