Seven continued to stare at him, unflinching, until he'd taken the pills. Once she was certain he'd consumed them, she mentally marked off the physical limitations he was facing and focused fully on the emotional aspect. Which, really, wasn't her strongest suit. At all.
Still, while she wasn't the type to allow her own repressed emotions to dictate her responses, she did have to admit feeling a bit of pride at the knowledge that he'd come to her in what was clearly a time of need. Not only that, but he'd come to her out of friendship rather than duty. Just because Seven didn't understand all of the complexities of humanity didn't mean she couldn't appreciate such a sentiment.
She just wasn't sure what to say to make it any better.
When in doubt, try to bring up something from your own personal experience that can be used in comparison. It was advice she'd been given, many times, from various crew members on Voyager. Seven typically didn't have any personal experiences to draw on and as such had never really used the advice. This time, however, she actually could.
"When a drone ceases to function, they are severed from the Collective. Yet their memories continue to exist within the hive mind. As such, Borg are unfamiliar with the sense of loss which comes from death," she began. Her gaze flickered past him, to the window, as she moved on to the personal bit.
"I was six when I became Borg. My parents were also assimilated. The only memories I retained of them were lost when I, too, was severed from the Collective." Her eyes shone with something akin to pain for the briefest of moments. "When I think of them," she admitted in a somewhat lower tone, "I am angered. I have been told that, although they placed a small child in direct danger solely for their own studies, my anger is both unjustified and unwarranted. It has been suggested to me that I look at the situation from their perspective."
Her gaze slowly slid back to Jim and her chin rose a notch, the flicker of emotion across her features gone as quickly as it had appeared.
