Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Alexis Castle and OPEN
What: Playing in the snow!
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: The park
Rating: Lowish

Alexis had been trying to take things well here.  She didn't have her dad, though some guy on the boards had looked like him.  She didn't have her gram.  She didn't have Owen or her friends from school.  But on the plus side, she'd met Harry, Molly, and her roommate was awesome.  (And Lancelot.  LANCELOT from the LEGENDS.  How cool was that?!)  And even though she'd turned into her Halloween costume of a vampire prom queen, she was back to normal and it was currently snowing.  How awesome was that.  Taking her newly bought winter jacket (it was nice to have money thanks to whoever spiked her bank account, it was more like home), hat, and gloves, Alexis made her way to the park and fell backwards into a pile of snow, grinning, and made a snow angel.  Sure, she was fifteen, but it was snow.  She could act like a little kid for the snow.

Heather had been missing for days now. Cassidy had the sinking feeling in his stomach that she had done the whole poofing thing like Veronica and Logan and everyone else he had a slight connection to, and he wasn't sure he could handle it. But sitting around the apartment watching Dumb and Dumber over and over wouldn't make things any better, so he finally forced himself off the couch and out the door.

He'd almost forgotten the snow. Big white flakes that still seemed alien to him, the California boy, and he shoved his hands in his pockets as he shuffled through the snow. There was some vague idea of going to a store and buying a coat, and he started off in that general direction.

A girl laying back in the snow caught his attention; both her behavior and the happy way in which she went about her task. Cassidy came to a stop, cocked his head in her direction. She didn't act like one of Colligo's pod people, so he walked towards her. "Hey. Uh. What are you doing?"

Alexis looked up at him. "Making a snow angel," she replied matter-of-factly. After a few more swipes of her arms to make it perfect, she carefully stood up, trying to leave no hand or footprints. There was a single foot print left by her left boot. "Didn't you make snow angels when you were younger?" she asked, brushing herself off as she looked at him.

Cassidy had just pulled on a simple hoodie when he walked out the door, and he pushed his hands further into the pockets and shivered. "Nope. Born and raised in California. I've seen snow angels on TV but haven't really MADE one."

He stepped back as the other girl stood next to him, cocked his head slightly as he looked at her. "I'm Cassidy," he said, "And I think I recognize you from the forums?"

"Nice to meet you Cassidy. I'm Alexis. Probably? Well, possibly. I don't know how memorable I am on those. You should make one if you haven't." She smiled. Alexis vaguely recalled someone who looked like him from the forums, but she wasn't sure. At least she knew he wasn't one of the people from town who didn't do a single thing at all or speak. "Wait, have you never had a snowball fight either? That's...really, really sad, actually." The redhead grinned up at him. She was half-teasing, but she really did think it sad.

Despite his glum attitude, Cassidy had to grin back at her. Being with Heather had socialized him somewhat, in that he could recognized the friendliness in the girl's face. "Nope, I've never done the snow thing at all. I'm too much of a snow puss-- pansy." Cassidy had to pat himself on the back mentally for avoiding vulgar language. "In fact, I've just decided I need to go buy a coat and other cold weather accessories."

He studied Alexis' snow angel, and swiped his foot through the snow. It did look fun. "So, uh, if you want to come with me? Then when I'm all properly outfitted I can come back and make a proper snow angel. And the fight. Yeah."

Alexis smirked slightly. The vulgar language wasn't anything new. After all, she'd been in high school. And given her father, she wasn't surprised by it at all, though she was sure that he would have liked her to never have heard some words. "You should definitely get a coat and stuff. Especially if the snow doesn't let up. I've never seen it snow this much. Well, my mom took me skiing once, but I'm not sure it was real snow, exactly." The redhead tilted her head and nodded, readjusting her had. "Sure! If you don't mind the company."

Cassidy smiled, his bad mood lifting a little. There was still the imminent doom of Heather's whereabouts hanging over his head, that one one morning he would wake up and her name would be off the door. But for now he was able to push past it, be social and actually enjoy human contact. He'd been too long by himself in the apartment.

"C'mon, then," he said good-naturedly, hunching his shoulder in the direction of the mall. "Before I freeze my ass off."

She grinned back and started in the direction of the mall. The snow was so beautiful! "It's never like this in Manhattan. You know, the pretty without the slush?"
