Carlton watched her for a brief moment and eyed the un-eaten brownie on her plate. He sat back with his arms crossed over his chest, his brow raised partially on his forehead, but not quite at full Carlton-diva stance. "All right, so you just got pulled into. . .whatever this place is, and it's a pretty stressful thing but knowing you as well as I do and, as your partner, I'd like to remind you that's pretty well, I'd think you'd have that down in a single gulp."
Carlton was bad at the personal life stuff, that was no secret, he was just really bad at relationships. Friendly ones even, so this wasn't an easy sitdown. But he was concerned enough to stand, go buy a cup of coffee, to help preoccupy himself a bit, and sit with her again as he stirred in his preferred cream and sugar. "All right, you talk, I listen. And. . .let's keep it concise because we both know I'm really no good at this crap, but this is a one time offer."
Who knew, maybe this would help them both get through this day. O'Hara was his balance, when Shawn was tipping him over, she kept him steady, and he had desperately missed that in the first few days he had been there without her.
