Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!closed, castiel, claire winchester, dean winchester

Who: Castiel, Claire, Serial killer!Priestly and Vampire!Dean
What: Dealing with the change in their friends since the party shenanigans.
Where: Claire's apartment building
When: The morning after the exchance
Rating/Status: Closed. Medium for possible violence

Castiel was there in moments. No one saw him land but he allowed Claire to see him just after he did. He could see she was deeply concerned. His own concern was less apparent but just as strong.
He knew he would have to talk to his Father very soon but Dean was likely to harm others, and perhaps himself, at the moment which made him the more urgent concern. Dean and the apparently violent Priestly.

"I will precede you," Castiel said by way of greeting, moving between Claire and the building.
After a moment he said, "We will assist them. Do not be concerned."

Claire had been pacing a small path in front of the building when Castiel arrived. At his declaration she felt irrationally irritated rather than relieved. She couldn't die. She couldn't be hurt. There was no reason he had to go in front of her. It was her apartment.

Her mind flickered to the memory of watching My Bloody Valentine 3D and she shivered, nodding her head rather than allowing her irritation to show. Tom was a deranged, seriously violent, psychopathic, serial killer. She didn't want to go in alone and, all pride aside, she didn't really want to go in first either.

Tucking a few errant strands of hair behind her ear, she squinted up at Castiel. "Not worrying is a little easier said than done," she stated simply before peering at the building. "Well." She glanced back to the angel. "Let's get this over with."

Castiel nodded. Not one to waver when he had a clear goal Castiel turned and walked briskly into the building. As he led the way he struggled with his own concerns. Castiel knew that turning into the things he hunter would be abhorrent to Dean. He would be in some distress, more so if he managed to harm someone in his altered state.

Then there was Priestly, the man he was allegedly with. Did he place Dean in danger or provide him with a terrible ally?
Castiel walked fast, barrelling down the hall. Anyone foolish enough to wander into his path would have been knocked down.

The apartment door shook in its frame as he knocked.
"Keep back," he said to Claire. "They will be... unpredictable."

Claire followed him silently inside the building, pausing at the door as Castiel knocked upon it. She met his gaze at his words. The corners of her mouth turned upward in a humorless sort of grin.

She pulled her key to the apartment out of her pocket and held it up for him to see - to use, if no one answered the door, so it wouldn't be knocked off its frame - before she finally responded.

"I can't die, remember?" she pointed out. She hesitated, then sighed softly as she added, "But I'll stay back." Or, at least, she'd try. She honestly doubted it was going to go so smoothly that she'd be able to do it for long.

Castiel looked down at the key. He expression said "oh" even if he didn't.
"If I have your permission?" he held his hand out for the key.

"I know you cannot die under most circumstances however I suspect inflicting injury or you may cause both men some distress. It is best avoided." He waited for the key.

"I wouldn't have offered if you didn't," Claire pointed out, dropping the key into his palm before sliding both of her hands into the pockets of her pants. She rocked back on her heels a bit, apprehension flashing briefly across her face as she stared at the door.

She knew he was right. If Priestly or Dean hurt her, they'd beat themselves up over it for a lot longer than she'd hold it against them. She also knew that a pickaxe to the face would be... messy, at the very least, and she didn't even want to think about what her blood might do to a vampire.

At the same time, however, Claire wasn't going to just stay on the sidelines if things went bad. She'd had enough of that before, back in her old life. She wasn't going to play the bystander-turned-victim again if she could help it.

Rather than comment on any of that, though, she instead gave Castiel a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Maybe they decided to skip out of the costume party early and come back for a latenight air hockey match," she suggested. It was clear she didn't really think that was the case, but it didn't hurt to hope.

Dean hated what he had become. He knew that it was just his costume and, like with all the insane things that happened here, it would pass...but that didn't stop the instinctual urge to find Sam or his dad and get them to cut off his head so he couldn't hurt anyone. He needed blood, he could feel it, and he wondered if this was how it had been for Sam. Feeling like he was burning up inside and blood was the only thing that would stop the pain. But he was not about to be that pathetic. He'd say that he could be like Lenore, but he knew that wasn't true. There was something in him, maybe some remnant of Hell, that wouldn't let him take that route. He needed to die or he needed to hurt someone.

He was pacing in the apartment when he heard the knock. What the hell? He opened the door and just stared at Castiel and Claire. "What the hell?" he said. "Are you insane? Get the fuck away from here, Claire! I can't..." He could practically hear her blood running through her veins. She could survive it. But...no! No way in hell was he doing that. Claire was his friend and he may have been a monster now, but he was not that far gone. "Please, Claire. Just...go."

He looked at Castiel. "Cas...I need you to stop me," he said, feeling strangely panicked. "I can't hurt anyone. I can't let myself do that. But I need..." He shook his head. "Just stop me, Cas. Get Claire out of here and stop me. You're stronger than me. You can." He knew that Cas would know what he meant. And he trusted Cas to do this for him. He didn't want to make Sammy or his dad kill him.

Castiel knew Dean had changed just by the sight of him. His figure was outlined in a black smudge, his face was lined by distress.
Castiel moved between Dean and Claire.

"That's right, Dean. You can ignore Claire. Focus on me." Castiel moved close to Dean. He took his shoulders in his hands. "I am here Dean. I will keep you safe until this can be reversed." The expression on his face was calm as he looked into Dean's eyes. Dean asked him to kill him without using the words. For one the subtext not lost on the angel.

"No. That will not be necessary, Dean. I am here. I will help you. I will stop you harming others. Whatever you need I can provide it." Castiel meant it. There was nothing he would not do for Dean Winchester. This he had proven over and over. He hoped it was enough for Dean to trust him now.

As soon as the door opened, Claire was hit with a few things in rather rapid succession. The first was relief that Dean was there and seemed to be himself, more or less. The second was an odd mixture of frustration, irritation, and affection at his order that she leave. The third - and at the moment perhaps the most important for her, at least - was the realization that she still didn't know where Priestly was, or if Priestly was in fact himself or had actually become Tom.

She had to put the third issue on the back burner for the moment, however. Instead she stayed behind Castiel as he'd asked, and simply waited patiently as he spoke to Dean. Her curiosity rose a few notches at the conversation they seemed to not be having in so many words, but again she kept her mouth shut.

For a few seconds, at least. Then she decided she'd had quite enough of hiding in the background and stepped a bit more to Castiel's side rather than directly behind him.

"You can't hurt me anyway, Dean. And Castiel isn't going to let you even try. I just..." She sighed, hoping that what she was about to ask didn't come out as callous-sounding as it did in her head.

"Priestly isn't here, right?"
