To be perfectly honest, the idea of going to the mall was not one Claire was fond of. That wasn't her fault, though; Topher had programmed her to hate crowds. Open spaces. Dogs. Strangers. All of which were typically found in abundance at the mall. She didn't really know why she'd insisted upon having him go with her. They never got anything done efficiently because of their tendency to vehemently disagree on every little thing. She hated the idea of becoming Topher's new gofer even more, though, and sometimes she worried about him. He'd managed to get away with being unemployed for their entire stay thus far, which irked her, because she'd been working since the day of her arrival, and he'd been different lately. Prone to panic attacks. Even more so than before. To be honest, it scared her. It also scared her that she was emotionally dependent on Topher even in the slightest; months ago, she had wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. The changing dynamic between herself and Topher, even herself and Echo or River frightened her. More than pets.
Which was probably a good thing, because Topher was here now and they had to go to the mall. She grabbed her keys off the side table. She'd been relieved when it had shown up. She'd never seen it in her time at the Dollhouse, because she had never left, and had honestly assumed that it was simply a figment of her intricately crafted mind. In any case, it made getting around a lot easier when she was so inclined. Greeting him at the door, she brushed her hair out of her face.
"I need to pick something up for Echo, too." She mentioned in an offhand fashion, hoping he would let the topic go.
