Severus had been indulging in what he had learned, recently, was called 'pre-partying', but to be fair, he had actually started days previous. He had not been completely sober since Lily had discovered how he felt for her, alcohol made the whole debacle easier to forget. It could be said he was continually drunk with moments of relative lucidity. It was in one of those moments that he realized his mark was not so much a mark anymore as it was just a scar - and the need to celebrate with more alcohol. And as celebrating (and forgetting) were always more effective with company Severus left his bottle of vodka for the atmosphere of a bar.
He found Regulus easily enough, he seemed to have decided waiting was a civility better left to those not ecstatic over the absence of a Dark Lord. But Severus wasn't so hung up over that. He ordered vodka for himself and then took a seat in the booth across from Regulus.
"You are entirely too happy over the possibility a child might have decided to play in traffic," Severus had to admit even the morbidity of such a thought was not off putting for him, considering who the child was.
