It meant a lot that he could soften Sirius's normally abrasive demeanour. That he had a positive impact on his lover's personality. And, as much as he loved Sirius, he had no trouble admitting that his lover needed some positive influence in his life.
"I know you're here," Remus said with a sigh, "but...I'm not really used to good things happening...I keep worrying that something will take you away. And I couldn't bear that if it happened." He didn't know how he would manage if he lost Sirius again. He liked to think of himself as an independent individual, a lone wolf if you will, but the truth was that he found it entirely too easy to rely on Sirius's presence in his life.
"Just promise that you'll try your best to stay," he said softly. "I don't want to have to get used to life with out you again...it was hard the first time, and nearly impossibly last time..." He closed hist eyes and just rested his forehead against Sirius for a moment before kissing him slowly, reassuring himself that his partner was really there. That he wasn't going to leave him alone again.
