WHO: Dean & Jo.
WHAT: She has a surprise for him.
WHEN: This evening.
WHERE: His place to start.
RATING: TBD.

The Barking Spider didn't have the accommodations Jo was looking for, so she had to do a bit of research before she found the proper place to take Dean for the evening. After the fear demon had been taken care of, the last thing Dean needed was to have Sam disappear, and that was exactly what had happened. Jo knew it upset him, and so she figured the only thing she could do was distract him somehow. It seemed to always work, at least for a little while. The more random and ridiculous, the better, so Jo was going to take him to a karaoke bar. Her goal was to get him to sing, but if all she managed to do was get him drunk and laughing at the Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wannabes, then that was okay, too.

Everytime she talked to Dean or was around him, her mind always went back to the night they'd gotten together for naked Battleship and then some. She wanted to talk to him about it, but it seemed there was never really a 'right time' to do so. And it was just so much easier to ignore it, anyway.

As she approached his door, she knocked a few times and waited. She had asked him if he wanted to hang out, but she hadn't told him she was actually coming over, or where she intended to take him.

It had been a hard couple of weeks and his earlier joy at the place was very diminished. Especially now that Sam was sent back, or at least he hoped that's what had happened. Dean didn't do well with not knowing his brother was okay, even after all the shit they had gone through. It made him anxious. And while that damn fear demon had gone it wasn't like all the nightmares were magically gone with it. At least he wasn't seeing it awake he supposed, but the memories were there in his mind and they weren't going away anytime soon.

He'd been aimlessly flipping through channels when the knock came and being the only one in the living room he got up to answer it. He gave Jo a bit of a smile seeing her on the other side and stepped back to let her in.

"Hey Jo..."

"Ah, ah, ah. You're coming with me," she said, shaking her head when he stepped back to allow her to come into the room. "I'm taking you out."

She gave him a little grin, just imagining the reaction she was going to get once he realized where it was they were going. But she was intent on doing this, and he wasn't going to have any say in the matter. She hated seeing him miserable more than anything, and if she had it her way, that was going to change in any way possible.

"Are you ready? I'll give you five minutes if you're not."

He gave her a little look, somewhat concerned about this being taken hostage. "Where are you taking me out?" he asked but grabbed his jacket anyways. He was pretty sure saying no to her would be useless, she looked rather determined and the last time she looked that determined he ended up being punched in the face.

"No, I'm good," he said in response to her offer of five minutes. He grabbed his keys from the table and headed out of the apartment with her. "This better not involve midgets, creepy bastards."

"You'll see," she replied, not saying anything else on the matter, and she didn't intend to. He would find out where they were going when they got there, mostly because she wasn't sure if he would even go if he knew beforehand. It was just a good thing that she seemed to have a way with getting him to do what she wanted without question, otherwise this probably wouldn't work.

"No midgets," she said with a laugh as they headed out of the building. "That much I can tell you."

"You're seriously kind of terrifying when you want to surprise someone," he teased her as they walked out of the building.

It was good to be outside though, he hadn't really done much leaving the apartment since he'd realized Sam had been sent back. Mostly he just sat around and watched Maury. He was pretty sure his roommates were about to call an intervention.

"You act like I'm dragging you off to your death or something," she replied with a smirk. "It's nothing like that, it's going to be fun. You remember what that is, right?" Really, she shouldn't have been talking, since she hadn't been having much fun lately, either. Not that she was actually miserable, but being bored wasn't a good way to pass her time in Colligo, either. In retrospect, though, it was better to be bored than plagued by -- oh, say, a fear demon or something.

Once they left the apartment building and found the Impala, Jo slid into the passenger side and said, "Just go where I tell you. The place isn't far."

"Fun... fun... nope not ringing any bells," he joked. He supposed life here wasn't horrible but the absence of Sam kind of left a weird hole and had him more anxious and worried about things than enjoying the fact there was no Apocalypse and that damn fear demon had been taken care of. He supposed he'd maybe gotten his hopes up about this place too much, somewhere him and Sam could just be themselves without some epic battle for the fate of the world, somewhere Sam could maybe get back on track. He should have known better, nothing good ever seemed to work out for them so why should this have been different.

He started the car up and drove out into the street. "Alright, I'm trusting you," he teased, he really wasn't that worried about where she would be taking him, chances are it probably would be pretty decent. It was Jo after all, wasn't like he'd end up having to sit through some crappy chick flick.

It was hard for Jo to sit there and simply give Dean directions, rather than cracking and telling him where they were going, but it wasn't like it was far away, so it only took about ten minutes to get there. When she finally told him to pull into a parking lot near a bar, she could easily see the large sign declaring that it was not only a bar, but a karaoke bar as well, and that tonight was amateur night.

"And here we are!" she announced, gesturing out the front window in a dramatic fashion.

The sign was definitely not missed and a slow grin spread across his face as he found an empty parking spot. "You're taking me to watch people make idiots of themselves? Jo, you shouldn't have," he got out of the car and waited for her to do the same before they headed into the bar.

There was a scrawny college boy belting out Corey Hart as they walked in and he looked to Jo and grinned. "Awesome."

"I know what you like," she replied with a large grin, climbing out of the Impala and moving around to the front to enter inside the place with Dean. The music could actually be heard from outside the doors, but inside, it was almost deafening. Either way, it didn't really matter, because it seemed the louder the sound, the funnier it was to hear the kid onstage singing.

As she led him towards a table, she glanced from the screeching kid to Dean. "Any chance I can get you up there before the night's over?"

"Not a chance," he said with a laugh as they found an empty table in the fairly crowded place. Sure he sang along in the car but that was an entirely different thing than getting up in front of a bar and belting something out. "I'll leave the making an idiot of yourself up to the professionals," he said with a nod towards the kid onstage.

As the waitress passed by he ordered them a jug of whatever was on tap, figuring it was pretty busy in there that'd probably be the easiest over waiting for bottles. He picked up the binder with the songs anyways, even though he was adament against the singing and started to flip through it.

"You wouldn't make an idiot out of yourself," she told him with a laugh. Actually, the entire point of karaoke was to do just that, but she wasn't going to say that part out loud. She just had to hope the mixture of alcohol and sweet-talking would change his mind at some point. "I'm sure they have something you like, AC/DC or something like that."

The waitress returned to their table with the jug, and while Jo was putting half of her focus onto pouring herself some, she kept glancing off at the list of songs until she caught sight of 'I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore.'

"Dean, I will be your personal slave for a month if you sing that," she said, eagerly pointing to the song on the page. "It's our song, how can you resist?"

He was idly flipping through the book while she talked and laughed a little at her comment. "Everyone makes an idiot of themselves, that's what makes everyone else laugh," he pointed out.

He grabbed the jug from her when she finished and started pouring his own glass. He glanced up at her at her request. "For a month hey?" he asked a bit of a grin on his face. It certainly seemed to have some potential. He took a drink and glanced down at the book he had.

"Slave for a month and you throw in Spice Girls," he said as he stood the book on the table for her to see, grinning at her over the page. "You can tell me what you want, what you really, really want."

She knew she was going to regret the whole slave for a month thing, but it was the first thought that popped into her head, and at that point it seemed to be the only surefire way to get Dean up on that stage. Hopefully he wouldn't expect her to actually go through with it, though. ...Especially if she had to sing the Spice Girls.

"No, it's either one or the other," she replied with a shake of her head. "Equal humiliation, and if I have to sing and be your slave, that is not equal." She lifted her brows as if to say 'so there' and took a swig of her beer. What she'd gotten herself into by trying to make Dean have some fun, she really had no idea.
