WHO: Heather & [OPEN]
WHAT: Browsing the shelves in a music store.
WHEN: This afternoon.
WHERE: The mall.
RATING: TBD.

Heather wasn't exactly a fan of the mall after her experiences back home, when the mall there had transformed into an almost literal hell on earth, but she knew she wanted to head out and try to forget about all of the after-effects of the fear demon. She felt a lot better, but her head still felt funny, like she couldn't quite shake the feelings she'd had when Barbas was still in town. It was stupid and she knew it, but she knew Cassidy was right. Silent Hill was a part of her, and it always would be a part of her. There was no way to get away from that.

When she got to the mall, Heather first thought about heading into the video game store, but she decided against it. The last thing she needed was to see a pixelated version of herself on the cover of a game, so instead she headed off in the opposite direction towards the music store.

She spent a few minutes browsing the various CD's, which were becoming almost obsolete with the invention of iPods and MP3 players, but Heather didn't have one of those. She had no problem with CD's, really. Just as she was reaching out for one, standing in the classic rock section, someone else's hand went right for the same one.

"Sorry, go ahead. I'm just looking, anyway," she said to the other person.

Phoebe had decided to do some more exploring. Maybe she could find a job or something. She had finally decided to go to school here in Colligo. She might as well since she was stuck here, and she didn't really know what else to do. But the attendance policy seemed a little slack, so occasionally she cut. But a job after school would make it seem a bit more like she was back home rather than stuck in some kind of alternate dimension.

The mall was always fun to go to, especially here. No one stared at her like a freak here. No one cared that her boyfriend was a zombie. No one cared that she still dressed a bit goth-like, though she had traded most of her black for earth tones these days. She still kept her knee-high black boots and wore them practically every day under her peasant skirts. And the mall here had a great music store. Music was always her favorite. Classic rock wasn't really her thing, but she thought maybe she'd pick up a CD or two for Adam. He wasn't as into metal and goth rock as she was.

Just as she started to reach for a disc, someone else almost grabbed the same one. "Oh, no, me too. Just browsing." She smiled apologetically at the other girl.

Heather still hadn't gotten over her social awkwardness, at least not completely. She talked to people here in Colligo, but it seemed the only person she could properly interact with was Cassidy. Was it really because they were both 'freaks?' Even the people who had crazy powers seemed to be normal to Heather, so that could have been it. She was out in public now where she couldn't really make any excuses, though, so she would have to try.

"Guess there's a lot of that going around," she replied. "Everyone says it's so easy to get a job around here, but I dunno. I'm still broke." She spoke with a smile, hoping she was actually pulling off a conversation with a random stranger.

"I know what you mean," Phoebe replied with a smile, brushing her hair out of her face. "I keep meaning to look for one, but it's tough competing with all the other people stuck here. Most of them are more qualified than a lowly high school student." She shook her head and laughed a little. It was ridiculous, getting stuck somewhere and not being able to get a job. Between competing with all the other people who were stuck and those creepy people that had apparently always been here, it was rough going.

"I'm Phoebe, by the way." She stuck her hand out to the other girl. It was always nice to talk to someone. It got lonely in that room.

"Same here, actually," she replied with a nod. "You need experience to get hired, but if you don't have any and no one will hire you, how are you supposed to get any experience in the first place? It's like a really bad pun or something."

She glanced down at the hand that was now extended to her, than smiled a bit more and took it in her own. "Heather. Nice to meet you."

Phoebe laughed. "Yeah, it's true. No one wants to give a kid a break these days. And somehow I doubt what little previous experience I do have will go over that well." Her only work experience was working for class credit for an institute that researched and fought for equality for the differently biotic. Saying that she was a receptionist for a zombie institute probably wouldn't get her very far.

"It's nice to meet you too, Heather."

"And if little previous experience doesn't go over well, I wonder how having no experience at all would do." She decided to leave out the fact that she'd tried working at a cafe, but she didn't feel normal enough for the job. She thought in a place like this, that wouldn't be a surprising revelation, but it was just something she wanted to keep to herself.

Turning back to the various CD's in front of her, she browsed them curiously while still speaking to the other girl. "So what kind of job were you looking for, anyway?"
