Merlin was confused. His brow furrowed as Arthur tried to explain, but it didn't help much. Why was he here, but not why was he here? Where else would he -- Oh, Arthur was looking for him. That explained it then, he must have been in at his room while Merlin was here. Still the subject was dropped as Arthur questioned the supper this time. He looked at the bowl and bread as if looking for something wrong with it, but everything looked fine to him.
"It's dinner time?" Merlin offered lamely as an explanation. "If you don't want it..." He pulled out the chair all the same, fairly sure that Arthur wouldn't refuse the meal.
"I thought we could talk, I know I've been -- It must have seemed that I didn't trust you. I promised to tell you the truth when I was well..." It was an odd start, and he risked causing a fight between them again bringing it up. However, Merlin fully intended to explain himself before Arthur got the chance to argue.
"I do trust you, Arthur. I was just afraid. My magic was -- it was out of control, sometimes even violent. I was afraid of hurting someone, hurting you...Or what you'd think if you saw me like that. So I'm sorry, you have to understand." Merlin thought twice on his last comment. Apologizing wasn't going to go over well if he was telling Arthur what to do. "I hope you understand..." He corrected.
