WHO: Prue Halliwell, Peter Petrelli, and Barbas
WHAT: Getting some of Barbas' flesh for the vanquishing potion.
WHEN: Middle of the night, following this.
WHERE: The warehouse district.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

If there was one thing that could be said for Prue Halliwell, it was that family always came first. Regardless of a situation, and no matter the risk she personally might have to take, making sure her family was safe was at the forefront of her mind. When it came to being a Charmed One, of course, there were times that she had to compromise on that issue. However, for every demon that tried to take a piece out of them as a whole, Prue almost always came up with some sort of plan that involved dealing with the threat with minimal danger placed upon her siblings.

Barbas was no different.

While she knew that it was dangerous to face him alone - and while she had grown enough as a person during her time as a witch to know that sometimes she had to rely on others as much as she relied on herself - Prue also knew that Paige was the only one who could manage to brew this potion correctly. And while Piper wasn't necessarily required for the potion, Prue had very little issue lumping the two of them together in that same category if it gave her what she felt was a legitimate excuse to deal with this on her own.

Not that she was going to face Barbas to vanquish him alone. No, Prue was many things, but an idiot wasn't one of them. He'd grown far more powerful than the last time she'd faced him and she knew that it would take all three of them (and probably others, truth be told) to take him down once and for all. But when it came to getting a piece of his flesh? That was something Prue not only knew she could handle, it was something she'd much rather do on her own.

So she waited, until it was late enough that she was almost certain her sisters would be asleep. She did her best to calm her rattled nerves as she eyed the clock, going over the lessons she'd learned from Gabriel earlier that evening at the park. Narrowing her telekinesis down until it was a finely tuned instrument and could be used to slice through something wasn't easy for her. Her power worked differently than his did. Where his was far more focused, hers only seemed to get bigger. Yet she had figured out a way to do what he did and, while she was hardly an expert at it as he seemed to be, she knew she could manage it for the task that waited ahead for her.

It was nearly two a.m. when she stopped practicing slicing through various pieces of cloth and slipped away from her room. There was a slight chill in the air as she made her way down the mostly empty streets of the city. As she walked, she turned her focus outward. She had to find Barbas. Which, she figured, wouldn't be too hard since he was just itching for a face-off with her after encountering her astrally projected self the last time. The tricky part, in fact, was going to be finding a place to meet him where no one else could be hurt.

But, Prue would manage. She had to. It was her job to protect the innocents from demons, and that's exactly what she intended to do.

Peter had played the solitary hero and the martyr both enough time to know the signs. And he knew without a doubt that Prue was planning on facing Barbas alone. And he wasn't about to let her do that, not after she stood up to Danko for him. And especially not after she'd shown more concern for him than his own family.

He focused on Molly's power, using it to find her, then teleported to her side with Hiro's. "You didn't think you were going to face him alone, did you?" he asked. "Even if I was cool with that, Chris would murder me if I let you."

At the sudden appearance of somebody beside her, Prue spun on her heel and brought her hand up out of pure instinct. Fortunately her brain worked faster than her telekinesis, and she just barely managed to avoid shoving her ability directly at Peter. Releasing a breath she didn't realize she'd even been holding, she dropped her arm back to her side and exclaimed, "Don't do that!"

Drawing in another breath to steady her suddenly on-edge nerves, she exhaled slowly before blinking, then squinting slightly at him. "Wait," she said flatly. "Did you just say what I think you said? Because if so, the answer is not only no, it's hell no. You're not coming with me, Peter."

"Sorry," Peter said sheepishly, shrugging slightly. He was glad she hadn't hit him with her telekinesis. That would have been awkward. "I guess I should have known better than to startle you, what with everything that's happening." With Barbas around, it definitely wasn't a good thing to startle Prue, at least not if you didn't want to get tossed into a tree...which Peter definitely didn't want.

"See," Peter said, "I figured you'd say that. But there's one problem with that. You can't actually make me leave. And I'm not letting you do this alone. You're too important to Chris and Piper and Paige. And really? Who else are you going to bring?" He started ticking off points on his hand. "I can't die. I can heal you. I can become intangible so that Barbas can't touch me. I've already dealt with my fears. If, for some reason, you can't get a piece of his skin, I can. And, most importantly, you're family now. And like hell am I letting you risk yourself alone. So, any arguments besides 'no'?"

Oh, Prue had arguments all right. She had a whole bag full of them. However, she knew he had several valid points - especially the fact that he could heal her, couldn't die and, of course, the family comment. Because while Prue prided herself on listening to her logic above her emotions, she also couldn't ignore the main part of an argument that she herself would have used were the situation reversed.

So instead she just fixed him with a patented I Am The Oldest And Therefore Know What Is Best look that she perfected courtesy of having Phoebe for a little sister. Then she stated simply, "Fine. You're coming with me. But if you're lying and actually can die, you better not do it on my watch. Otherwise, Chris is going to kill me."

With a shake of her head as well as a faint smile that stole across her features when she turned from him, Prue continued on her way. She knew, without bothering to check, that he would fall into step beside her. After all, what was the point of his little speech if he didn't make good on his intentions of joining her for this particular battle?
