Makoto had resigned herself to not getting out of the city. Walking beyond its limits had led to ending up back in the library and being dragged from it by the suits of armour. She'd tried blasting them with lightening, attacking the library building, attacking the place where she decided the barrier for the loop back to the library was. Trying to teleport was also just a dead end.

The city didn't seem to ominous, but with the strange way people were behaving, Makoto didn't want to let the princess out of her sight. Usagi had told her she was going to school and Makoto made sure nothing happened all day. She sat in the bakery where Usagi worked, school peers and shop customers with equal distrust.

Usagi thought it was a little odd having Makoto follow her around all day, but so far had no complaints. Sure it was kind of strange, but at the same time she appreciated having her friend close by. Especially with the fear that had been affecting everyone lately. Her nightmares had been getting better though now that Makoto was around. Of course, now -- Just having her sit in the bakery watching people was making Usagi (and a few customers, no doubt) a little uncomfortable.

Eventually she wandered over to the other girl's table, setting a small plate of cookies and a glass of milk down for her. "You know, Mako-chan...I love having you around, but you don't need to watch me all the time. Nothing is going to happen. I've been here for a while now." Usagi didn't want to be a burden on Makoto, to have the senshi feel like she required tending to and protection constantly. She just wanted the girl to relax, have fun with her like they used to, and maybe try and enjoy this place a little seeing as they were stuck here.

Makoto looked at the plate of cookies in front of her.

"What if something does happen, Usagi?" she asked, picking one up and taking a bite. "How would I live with myself knowing that someone had hurt you while I wasn't around?"

The bakery door opened and Makoto looked up at the newcomer. She lowered her voice and watched them go to the counter.

"These people's fears are dangerous. There are some powerful people in this city and if one of them goes crazy close by, you could get hurt."

She put the cookie down and sighed. "I'm just... used to it being easier to protect you. You stay in the castle, I guard you and we have a happy life. This place is wrong."

"I'm not your queen, Mako-chan." Usagi said softly, not sure how she liked the idea of being restricted to the castle in her future. That didn't sound like much fun. Of course, right now that was the least of her concerns.

"This place is smaller then Tokyo, there are fewer people, and I've managed this long." The blond explained. There was always danger, and they faced it. Usagi had long since learned not to worry herself about what could happen while they enjoyed the brief periods of peace.

"Makoto...I don't want you to protect me." Usagi appreciated it, and knew that Jupiter just wanted her to be safe. That's not what she needed here though. "I just want you to be my friend."

	Makoto had no words to respond. What Usagi had said was just what Serenity would have said in this situation, and she knew it. Serenity wasn't her queen, she was her friend. "What should I do then?" she asked. Genuinely confused about the idea of living in Colligo. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Well, you're going to need a job. Maybe you can even work here with me, you're a much better cook after all." She suggested to start because she'd quickly learned that this place provided a place to live, but that was the extent of it after the first hundred dollars.

"And then -- whatever you want, I guess." She shrugged. Usagi had pretty much just been going day by day. School and work managed to keep her busy and distracted so far. "I still want to get home. I try all the time, but there is no point in being miserable here while we're stuck here. I enjoy it sometimes."
