Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Heather & Cassidy.
WHAT: Dealing with the fear.
WHEN: Tonight.
WHERE: Their place.
RATING: TBD.
STATUS: Incomplete.

Heather was most certainly not in her proper state of mind any longer. It wasn't just the fear that was getting to her, but the visions on Silent Hill itself. It was not only frightening her, but also bringing back memories that were very nearly traumatizing her all over again. No matter how much Cassidy or anyone else tried to tell her it wasn't real, she didn't seem to ever be fully convinced. With good reason, too, since everytime she looked outside, she saw the fog and the monsters. She saw the decay that had taken over the city of Colligo. She heard the static blaring over the radio. Maybe no one else saw or heard these things, but she did, and that was what made it completely real to her.

Currently, she was standing by the window in Cassidy's room, where she had pretty much set up camp since moving in. She barely slept or ate, just stood there or sat up in bed with her eyes still glued to the window. She couldn't help but keep watch outside, even though everytime she tried to show Cassidy what she saw, he never knew what she was talking about. She wasn't lying when she said it had been perfect timing. She knew she wouldn't have wanted to be around a psychopathic vampire during a time like this, and it made it a hell of a lot easier to be living with Cassidy, rather than forcing him to stay with her at her place the whole time, which she definitely would have done.

She could hear Cassidy's footsteps as he entered the room behind her, but she was focused on the large group of dead dogs that were circling out front. And then there was a larger monster, like the ones she'd first seen back home at the mall. Huge, lumbering creatures with fists like giant sledgehammers and bodies that looked like they'd been sewn together from other parts. She didn't bother to tell Cassidy about it. He never saw them anyway.

With a sigh, Cassidy settled on the bed, balancing the plate of corn chips he had brought in against his chest and nestling the bowl of salsa against his leg. For a moment he watched Heather at the window, the way she reacted to whatever she was seeing. The chick on the network had advised that people face their fear, but Cassidy was completely unsure of how to do that. He guessed that Heather's fear was more than just being back in Silent Hill, perhaps had more to do with the vestiges of Alessa that she probably still carried.

And the thought of Heather thinking she was Alessa was something Cassidy did not want to face. Even if it was still all theoretical in his mind, video game characters brought to life.

"Freakazoid," he said lightly, desperately trying to put some levity into the whole situation. He and Heather had never been good with emotions. "Chips and salsa. Come eat."

The sound of Cassidy's voice caused Heather to quickly turn and look over her shoulder at him, as if she hadn't been aware he was even in the room all of a sudden. She clearly felt better when he was around, since she would always make a big deal out of it when he left for even a little while, but she tended to get so involved in making sure nothing was trying to get into the house that she eventually didn't even realize she was alone.

"Wait, wait," she whispered, holding a hand out and then turning back to the window. She wouldn't have just hidden the first time around, but then she had both a means to defend herself as well as a reason to be wandering around outside. Now, she wasn't sure why she'd suddenly been thrown back into Silent Hill (which she had in her mind), and she figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Every now and then, though, she would get the urge to go outside. Not to kill the monsters she thought she saw, but just to be there. That part was probably Alessa, and Heather could feel it.

Finally, after a few moments, she stepped away from the window, convinced that the coast was clear for the time being. "Okay. They're gone. I thought maybe they were gonna try to bust in the building somehow, but they left." She spoke as if all of it was natural, a casual sort of conversation.

Cassidy had gone back and forth on playing along with Heather's fears, or keeping his stand and continually telling her that nothing was there. To get her home, he and Lilly had to resort to playing along, which then had turned into Cassidy playing along with the whole Aaron Echolls thing, which had just been weird. But it had worked, Heather safe and sound, and when he had turned around to secure Lilly she had disappeared.

With Veronica and then Logan poofing on him, Cassidy had panicked, kept double checking that Mac was here, and then Lilly, and keeping an eye on Heather. There was no way he was gonna lose either of them. Even if Lilly wasn't exactly his friend.

For the moment Cassidy decided to ignore the whole thing. "Whatever. Just come and have some food." He watched Heather for a moment, and then signed in frustration. He didn't like seeing her so tense. "Heather. It's all fake. This girl on the on the network says its not real, that a demon is making you see these things." He sat up, caught Heather's gaze firmly. "It's not real. Do you understand?"

Initially, Heather was a little offended that Cassidy didn't seem to be appreciative of the fact that she was trying to look out for him, too. She wasn't only trying to protect herself here. She was just about to say something about it when common sense, as well as Cassidy's words, kicked in, breaking through whatever nonsense was going on in her head that some demon was causing.

"I..." She wanted to protest. She could hear the screeches and groans coming from outside, after all. But staring down at Cassidy, listening to those words and hearing the determination in his voice, seemed to snap her out of it. "Sorry. Yeah, I know."

She sighed, reaching up to run a hand through her hair as she sat down on the edge of the bed. A moment later, she reached out to grab a handful of chips, eating one at a time slowly. "So is someone gonna stop this fucking bullshit anytime soon?" she asked, scooting back so that she could lay against the pillows a little more comfortably. "I'd like to, you know, not be crazy anymore. I wanna go back to just being a freak."
