WHO: Alpha and Nessie
WHAT: Alpha is experiencing 48 worst fears at once. Nessie's his room mate. Whoo.
WHEN: Sometime during the Nightmare Epidemic.
WHERE: Alpha and Nessie's apartment.

____________________

Well, wasn't this exciting. Though not exactly the pinnacle of self control, Alpha often managed to keep himself together. He could carry on a conversation, could often walk across the room without parts of him deciding to change direction. He'd struck a sort of balance among all of his personalities. Argue as they did, they managed to function, kind of.

Usually.

At first it was just dreams. His dreams were erratic, anyway, and he hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary. It wasn't uncommon for a person to dream about their fears, but now? Awake? He could see everything. Giant spiders, clowns, running water, electronics, stairs without risers, prickly fruits, and when he looked out his window there was Armageddon and Ragnarok and fire raining from the sky, all at the same time. Like his brain couldn't pick just one worst fear or phobia and decided to go with all of them.

The result was Alpha hiding under the kitchen table (which he was not afraid of) with the gun he'd had in his pocket when he was picked up by The Collector. There wasn't much ammunition left, but that didn't stop him from shooting at anything that spooked him, whether it was tangible or not. By now the wall and couch had suffered more than a few gunshot wounds.

Although she had at her disposal quite a few of the perks of her vampire heritage, Nessie did have to sleep. It was one of the things that separated her from the rest of her family, in fact. She didn't have to sleep quite as long as most humans in order to feel rested but rest was a requirement and, like most people, if hers was interrupted without a very good reason she tended to get... cranky.

So it was a very not happy vampire-human hybrid that all but stalked from her bedroom as gunshots rang out - yet again - through the apartment she shared with the mortal male. They hadn't met yet. Mortal men tended to react oddly when she interacted with them. Something to do with the allure of her vampire side - the inhuman beauty that drew people close to her so she could kill them easier.

Not that she made a habit of killing humans. She was a 'good' hybrid, just like her family were 'good' vampires. Nessie had, though, seriously been considering just switching to another empty room or possibly to Alice's. Even Leah's room, honestly, would be better if only because she knew who and what Nessie truly was and wouldn't potentially develop some unhealthy crush and/or obsession that would just be annoying at best and downright dangerous (for the male affected, at least) at worst. Yet so far the girl had stayed where she'd been assigned and had simply done her best to avoid her roommate. The only real reason she knew she had one, in fact, was that the smell of him was everywhere.

Of course, if he didn't stop firing his gun, she decided as she exited her room and made her way toward the living room area, there were going to be little bitty pieces of him everywhere too. Because unless there was a very good reason for shooting randomly into their empty apartment, she was going to be one very unhappy, unnaturally strong, semi-monster.

As she reached the living room she glanced at the couch and shook her head at the bullet holes that littered it. Great. She hoped he had money to buy a new one. She almost said as much, too, as her gaze easily slid in the direction where she could smell him hiding. Instead, however, she cocked her head to the side and listened intently.

Yep. As she'd originally thought, it was just the two of them. There were no intruders. "You better be having one hell of a nightmare," she intoned dryly as, with a heavy sigh, she unknowingly and unwittingly stepped around the corner and directly into his line of fire.

Alpha didn't really answer. But he did shoot her. Maybe it was the sudden movement, maybe she looked like Bill Murray, maybe he had a thing against women. Who knows. But he shot her.

Or... he tried to. Bullets didn't exactly work on Nessie, and he'd know that if he'd bothered to introduce himself---or at least one of himself. Not that that was important now, seeing as he was hiding under the table and shooting at her. Bang, bang, bang----

Click.

And that ended that. Alpha kept pulling the trigger, but he heard that clicking noise eventually and that just ruined it. "Stay away from me!" he shouted instead. "Don't touch me---or me, or us, stay back---!"

Okay, no. No, he had not just shot her. Nessie blinked at as the bullets bounced off of her as ineffectively as if he'd been tossing pebbles at her. Even less so, really, considering she didn't even feel them.

She did, however, find herself infinitely more irked at his actions than was probably healthy... for him, anyway.

"Stay away from you?" she replied after he'd finished shouting. Her hands went to her hips as she eyed him. "You just shot me and you want me to stay away from you?" She snorted then, curly hair bouncing a bit as she shook her head.

"Stupid mortal," she muttered underneath her breath before moving past him, to the kitchen. She wasn't hungry, and if she were she'd much more prefer blood to food, but she had to do something other than shake the man until his teeth rattled. So, she settled for pouring herself a glass of water and took her sweet time drinking it.

Once she felt as though she'd calmed herself enough that she could speak to the man again, she set the glass in the sink and turned back to the kitchen table. "Maybe we should start from the beginning. My name is Renesmee Cullen. Apparently, I'm your roommate. Now why, exactly, were you shooting and me and, more importantly, what were you shooting at before I came out here?"

Oh, shit. People usually died when he shot them. This was a complication that Alpha hadn't anticipated. He was shaking now, big blue eyes twitching; he was jumping at new demons every few seconds. To Alpha, the room was full of interlopers and enemies, he was shocked Nessie could even breathe with how crowded it was.

He scooted around as she moved, skittering out from under the table and pulling himself up. His grip on the gun shifted and he gripped by the barrel, fending off an invisible zombie with the butt.

"Zombies----zombie apocalypse, I told them it was going to happen and nobody listened---!"

Was he... fighting something invisible? Yes, Nessie realized as he began babbling about zombies, he was. Apparently there were invisible zombies in the room. Which meant that he really was insane. The only question was whether it was by his own design or courtesy of whatever was apparently in the water in this place. She wasn't sure of the answer, but she knew she wanted to get that gun away from him before he found more bullets or threw it through their television or something equally ridiculous.

With a heavy sigh, she answered flatly, "There aren't any zombies. Really. There's nothing, and no one, here except for the two of us. And even if there were-"

Nessie relied on speed that was far above that of any human's, and rushed toward him. Now directly in front of him, she met his gaze and finished with, "They wouldn't stand a chance against me."

Holding out her hand, she stated simply, "Now, please, give me the gun and let's talk about this."
