CHARACTERS: Lois Lane and Andrea Rojas
LOCATION: Their room.
TIME: Evening.
NOTES: Andrea quickly gets Lois'd, but Lois gets a bit Andrea'd right back.

A roommate. She'd known that this would have happened sooner than later. What with the rate of people arriving from only Dios knew where. Nevertheless, there had been a part of her that had hoped-possibly fruitlessly-that she would have lucked out and not received a roommate. At least not so soon.

Pretending to be normal and social on the message boards was one thing, having to do it day in and day out was another. She'd been prepared to leave Metropolis, her home, her dream job, and the identity she'd made for herself the months after her mother's death ... after killing someone. After realizing that while she knew that it wasn't the way to honor her mama's memory, knew that it wouldn't bring her mother back, she still wanted to pitch Lionel Luthor out a window she'd been prepared to leave it all. But that had changed quickly, even as all those realizations continued to press down on her, when she realzed that saving people was what she was good at. Outside of the vengeance, beyond that. When she'd saved the life of the son of the man who was responsible for her mother's death.

With a groan, Andrea's head leaned foward, as she pressed at her temples. Oh, Dios freaking Mio. She didn't want to deal with this. She hadn't had a time to deal with it. Not when right after her with Sullivan about not hanging up the mask she'd ended up in this ... place. She really didn't want to deal with her mother's death. She didn't want to deal with the fact that Lionel Luthor was dead. And that she was .. something about that. She didn't want to deal with the fact that she'd killed someone. With the fact that she was completely antsy without proper crime to handle. With the fact that she actually missed the Suicide Slums. She certainly didn't want to deal with the fact that she was brooding, because seriously? She so thought she'd had a handle on at least that

No. What she was going to deal with was the fact that Sullivan's cousin, who just happened to be a reporter, would be showing up any minute. She had to deal with the fact that patroling was going to have to be cut down, she was probably have to hide her pretty, pretty boots that were typically dirty with the dew and grass, and the rest of her costume. That she was going to need to find something else to do to help herself fall asleep. Without nightmares.

Andrea breathed around the ache pressing against her chest, shallow breaths, until the ache simply became a heavy shadow.

There was barely any time pull herself together before someone just barged in, put she managed to. She'd always been good at that and while super-agility was not super-speed, it sure helped, nonetheless.

Andrea quirked a brow as a woman just walked in, like she was on a mission. She could tell who she was from the message board pictures.

It sort of irritated her, okay more than irritated her, that she'd just barged in. Yeah, sure there was her name on the door. But the polite thing to do would have been knocking. Andrea quickly realized, as she was wont to do, that whether everything went very well or very wrong hinged on this meeting.

Meaning it would involve her doing her part. Which was why, she stood up and said, "Hey."

Just an hour or so before, Lois had been walking down the street, on her way from work to the dry cleaners. She realized that she had a dress there, waiting to be picked up for the last couple weeks. But that was where she was, and as she rounded a corner, she found herself in that library where she was manhandled by statues and given a shiny new PDA. Most of that was bad, but hey, at least the PDA was a good thing. The only good thing.

Eventually, after harassing several locals that just frustrated her, and the word "cell" getting thrown around several times, Lois decided to make her way up to the room she was assigned. She wasn't sure if she wanted her new roomie to be there or not though. On the one hand, if she was there, then she could get the whole meeting thing out of the way. But if she wasn't then she could relax for a while, and maybe even go ahead and get some sleep.

Being Lois, when she saw the door that had her name on it she just waltzed right inside, not even pausing to so much as knock. After all, why should she? It was her room and there was the chance that she was going to be the only one there anyway. But, she quickly notice that the Andrea woman was home, and this caused her to let out a soft sigh.

"Hi," Lois said simply, closing the door behind her before turning to face the woman. "Andrea Rojas, right?"

She nodded slowly, "Right. And you're Lois Lane. Nice to meet you face to face." There was a time she'd been better at this. After her awkward pre-teen years and into her semi-rebellious, much more confident teen years and before .. well, before, she had been able to be more at ease with a simple greeting and introduction. Even when she'd first bumped into Kent that time in the Planet, in a bumbling, clumsiness that had been equally natural and equally a farce; she'd felt a lot smoother than she did now. "Soooo ... you're my new roommate." Stating the obvious never really hurt much.

"Bingo on both parts," Lois said simply, turning to look around the room. Really, she thought she had more room when she was in college for those few months. "Wow," she started, frowning just a little. "They really don't believe in personal space here, do they? Kinda sucks."

She looked back and forth between the two beds the room held, blinking a bit. There was no way she'd just be able to figure out which one was going to be hers and which one was already to be Andrea's. The whole room was neat enough that it looked like neither of them had ever set foot in there before.

That was bound to change soon.

"So, which side's mine?"

Lois' question actually brought forth a tiny smile from Andrea, a genuine one too. "It's like they think they were sausages or something." Not that that it was that small. She'd been in smaller once, for a few months, with her mom as a kid. But that was different ... so different that Andrea had to agree. It did kinda suck. She was a big believer of personal space herself.

"That one." She said pointing to the bed that was closer to where Lois was standing. It was coincidentally the one she hadn't been sleeping in so, that made it Lois'. "I hope you don't mind that I wash and changed the sheets. Never know when was the last time they were used. Or changed." Luckily there hadn't been any crawly creatures stuck between the covers, or any bigger creatures shuffling around the room. However, one could never be too careful. Was there really a such thing as too clean? Maybe, but Andrea had yet to discover it.

"Or sardines," Lois said with a sigh. "Which would really suck, because that would probably mean that whoever it is thinks we smell like fish. Which, gotta tell ya, not the case. Not with me, at least. And it doesn't seem like you smell like fish either." Yes, she was babbling. Lois Lane had a tendency to do that. There was no way she could count all the times that people had told her that she talked too much.

Lois made her way over to her new bed and plopped down, glad to finally have the chance to kick off the heels she'd worn to work that day. Why couldn't I have worn sneakers or something today? Sure, Tess would have probably chewed her out for that, but at least her feet wouldn't be throbbing.

Despite herself, a wide grin curved across Andrea's face. She couldn't help it, the bit of babble fest made her want to laugh. It was very amusing. Not in a condescending way, but in a funny way. Andrea hadn't been expecting to be amused by Lois Lane. Though she should have seen it coming, the woman had already proved to be something .. else on the message boards. Her spelling definitely was something else. So was her determination to keep things the way they were for her; stubborness was definitely something Andrea could get behind. She freely admitted that it was a trait that she had in spades.

"I try to bathe regularly." Was all Andrea said to that, though her smile was still there, even if it had dimmed slightly in magnitude.

When Lois plopped herself down, Andrea sat herself down with a bit more grace, curling her feet under her, leaning forward an elbow on each thigh and her arms crossed in the space between. She, personally, could have sat there just staring at Lois not saying anything, but she figured that the ball was on her court now. So she talked about something she could already tell they both really liked. "Long day at the Planet?" Added to the long day of finding out that you were in another world. However, that one was a given. She could tell the way Lois was dressed that she had been from or on her way to work. She was guessing from from the way that she took off her boots. Yes, Andrea noticed all of this just from the way Lois was dressed and had plopped down. You could notice a lot about a person if you knew how to watch them. And Andrea made it her business to watch people. She also knew that Lois wasn't a typical boot wearer from the way she'd taken them off. Tsk, tsk. Or maybe she just wasn't as obsessive about her shoes as Andrea was ... weird.

"Well that's good," Lois started, chuckling softly as she reached up to rub at her eyes. "I'd have hated it even more here if they stuck me with someone that didn't even bother to shower regularly."

When Andrea asked about her day at work, Lois perked a brow before looking over at her. It took her a moment to remember that she had mentioned working there on the message boards, but once she did, she started to grin just slightly again. It'd be horrible to have to be suspicious of the girl you're living with, after all. "Oh, yeah. Smallville was whining about something again today. I'm not sure what, I kinda ended up blocking him out." Yeah, she even did stuff like that to him, and he was one of her best friends.

Andrea chuckled in return, "Dios, could you imagine? Coming to the room tired and just wanting to crash but being attacked by someone who thinks that smelling like fetid cheese and dying fish is funtimes.

"Smallville?" She frowned slightly, before laughing when it clicked in her mind. She almost asked, "Sidekick?" but she caught herself quickly enough. "Kent? How does he take that? I remember him not being the nickname type." She grinned, one that became slightly michevious. That might have been because she called him, 'sidekick', he'd taken some offense to that quickly enough. "I never did manage to block him out." Something flickered across her face but it was gone as quickly as it came. She wondered if it had more to do with the message he had been giving her than their short time of aquiantance. Andrea would like to think she had enough fortitude to block out Clark Kent. She'd ignored him well enough as AoV, especially when he'd gotten in her way. But blocking him out? There had been something about him that made what he said really stick to her.

"Oh, man," Lois laughed a bit, flopping back so she was leaning against the wall her bed was against. So far, this girl seemed alright, so that was good. At least sharing a room with someone wouldn't be too miserable. "That would be horrible. Thank you, seriously. Thank you for being a fan of showers.

She just smirked to herself a bit at the mention of Clark and how much he hated nicknames, then offered Andrea a shrug. "Yeah, well. He does his share of whining, but he's been getting better about it. I mean, I've been calling him Smallville for a good four years now, so he's bound to get over it at some point. And, I can block him out because of knowing him for so long."

"You're welcome." She said. "I try and duty towards the masses and bathe. I'm just that nice."

"Ahh." She said, with a small smile. "Habit. That tends to make things more bearable. So what's the Daily Planet like four years into my future?" She asked genuinely curious. She hated having to leave that place. It had been a big part of her, it'd been more than an easy way to find out which criminal was doing what. She had genuinely wanted to be a journalist. "I'm guessing you're four years, give or take, in my future since neither you nor .. Smallville." She flashed Lois a quick teasing smile. "Are working there in 2006."

Lois groaned, already hating all the weirdness of this place. And it wasn't limited to the being somewhere she wasn't supposed to be, or to the time being all... funky. "Well, it's 2009 for me. You missed Lex Luthor being owner and editor. Thank god that's over with! Now it's one of his lackeys, and she drives me nuts. Chloe doesn't work there any more. I started there before Smallville did. Oh! And Linda Lake is gone. God, could she have been any more of a bitch?"

And really, that about summed up the Planet itself. There wasn't too much going on at work, all of her crazy times in Kansas happened when she wasn't sitting behind her desk.

Andrea blinked once, than rose a brow, it was obvious that she was taken aback and she didn't even bother hiding it. She didn't know why she was suprised. It was the Luthors. It was any wonder they hadn't ruined the Daily Planet ages ago. There wasn't a thing in that city that she'd once loved and they'd gotten their greedy hands on and either ruined or drestroyed. It ... She let out irritated air through her nose, stopping the direction of her thoughts. She was glad that she'd missed that. "Sullivan? She quit?" Now that was the biggest surprise. Chloe Sullivan not working at the planet. It was .. very hard to imagine. Andrea's shock became a slight smirk. Even though she was still startled by that bizarre information-Chloe Sullivan, she'd been sure that girl would take the Planet places-the information about Lake .. well she could agree on. It was very difficult to like that woman. Or to even want to try. "No." She stated honestly. "Though maybe if she was, she would have been more hard-ass than smarmy and irritating. I don't know where she got off what half the stuff she did." People like Linda Lake, who gave journalism a bad name, recieved no sympathy from Andrea. They only served to piss her off. She didn't ask what happened to the other female because she frankly could care less.

"Yep." Lois started, thinking about how these beds sure could use an upgrade. Whoever brought them there must have been cheap as hell to get these shitty mattresses. "But, the story of why Chloe isn't at the Planet any more is a long one. But, don't get me wrong. She's still got that reporter's instinct, even if she does try to cover it up more these days."

Lois chuckled softly then. Shifting so that she could stretch out on the springy bed, she brought up an arm to cover her eyes in the crook of her elbow. "Actually, Chloe's the one that got me into it in the first place. I probably wouldn't have ever gotten into it if she hadn't talked me into helping out on The Torch." And wasnt that the truth though? Lois had no interest in reporting at all until she actually tried it out. And it was only partly Chloe that got her to sign up back then. The rest was due to the fact that the school board where she had gone to high school before Smallville consisted of morons and didn't think to let her know that she hadn't actually graduated.

"That's not an easy thing to lose." She said with a slightly rueful smile, pulling up her legs onto the bed and pulling them up against her. Letting an arm hang over her knee.

"The .. Torch?" Andrea frowned slightly trying to remember where she'd heaerd that name before. College. Someone at Met U, that had been in one of her classes had been ... "You're from Smallville?" Which might have been how she knew Clark, it made sense. It was just that Lois had something about her that screamed opposite Made in Smallville. Chloe had that too. It was sort of hard to describe but it was quite opposite from that vibe Clark Kent had. There was more of a fast-pace to how they move and acted, that seemed as if it would clash thoroughly with the farmlife of Smallville.
