Rating Safe for anyone

Someone on the network had advised she 'keep a hold on' her loved ones, and although Makoto was already on guard and knew there was something sinister about this place, the advice had made her more on edge.

Usagi mentioned that she had her own room, a place to stay, and Makoto couldn't quite work out why Usagi was so insistent that she pretend to live here for any amount of time. Usagi headed off into her room for the night and Makoto declared that she would be sleeping on the couch. The furthest she was going to let her princess out of her sight was sleeping in the next room with the door open.

Makoto woke up with the sun and rummaged through Usagi's kitchen looking for ingredients so that she could make breakfast. Usagi seemed to have been eating instant-type foods and ready-made meals for some time. Makoto smiled a little, even though it meant that she'd have to eat cereal for breakfast. The box of sugary pink bunnies stood on the bench and Makoto left it there as she got to work tidying up the disorder of the kitchen and lounge room, taking note of the homely things and the schoolbooks as she did so. Usagi had settled in here to stay, and Makoto wasn't exactly happy about it.

She looked into Usagi's room, taking a second to think of fond memories as she smiled at the sleeping princess sprawled out over her pink-sheeted bed. After a few seconds, she moved back into the kitchen to enjoy an unhealthy, tooth-rotting breakfast and wait for Usagi.

The night before Usagi had pointed out that Makoto had her own room, and was pleased to find that it was just next door. However, she had to admit, she wasn't bothered in the least that the other girl wanted to stay with her that night. Just knowing Makoto was in the room provided a great deal of comfort, she hadn't suffered the nightmares that had been bothering her for several nights.

Eventually the little alarm when off beside her bed, followed by a small thunk as she swung her arm, knocking the clock to the floor. The blond groaned, sliding out of bed to make her way sleepily towards the kitchen. "Mako-Chan?"

She looked very small standing barefoot in the kitchen, her little blue nightgown, and mass of golden hair loose around her. Glancing down at the bowl of pink cereal, Usagi smiled, and stole a bite. "G'morning." She murmured, sitting down beside her friend.

"Did you sleep okay?"

"I didn't sleep as well as I would have at home, princess."
Makoto hid her cringe at the title that slipped out of her mouth. She was very aware that this was not the Usagi she'd faced countless battles with - this Usagi hadn't experienced the biggest challenge of her life in bringing the Earth out of it's frozen state, and Makoto was feeling the over-protectiveness that she'd feel for a younger sister.

She hoped Usagi wouldn't notice her slip-of-the-tongue or at least wouldn't mention it, and she quickly covered by firing the same question back at the tiny version of her best friend.
"How did you sleep?"

As Usagi looked at her, Makoto was suddenly very aware of the faint Jupiter symbol on her forehead and rubbed it nervously. She was lost without Serenity or any of the other Senshi and felt incredibly nervous to be the only one charged with the protection of the past.

"Today we'll look for a way out of here, right?" she asked.

"Much better then I have been." She admitted, slipping her hand into Makoto's at seeing how unsettled the other girl was. Usagi wanted to set her at ease, provide the same comfort that Jupiter's mere presence gave her.

"You can share the bed with me if you won't use your room, or there is the empty room there. I don't have a room mate, so no one will mind." The blond suggested, there was no reason for her to keep having to sleep on the little couch, not with three beds available to her in different rooms nearby.

Usagi didn't mention anything about her slip of the tongue, or the symbol on her forehead. Not that she didn't notice. It was a little unsettling because she worried what this Makoto must think of her, but she did her best not to let it show. She had been so upset before, and hated burdening her friend with those worries.

"Alright." Usagi would miss school, but that was fine. She had no idea where to begin looking for a way out that she hadn't already tried. Still, if it would make Makoto feel better, and there was a little more hope that she would be able to get home with Mako's help.

"I'm sorry"
Makoto's heart was aching with questions about the other Sailor Senshi and why they had left Usagi here alone, but she didn't want to upset her again. She could sense Usagi's shame at her loneliness and sadness, but couldn't find the right words to tell her it was okay. All she did was grip Usagi's hand, uderstanding that the young Senshi was reassured by her prescence here.
Usagi's prescence comforted Makoto too. This was the woman who she'd stood side-by-side with in dangerous situations. This was the princess she'd given her life to protect, and the best friend who who protected her in return.

It just sucked that Makoto was the older and wiser one and Usagi would be expecting her to lead.

Makoto wasn't sure whether she should answer Usagi with regards to sleeping arrangements. The thought crossed her mind that she might have slept in the spare room the night before, but she had not wanted to be comfortable here at all.
"We'll work out something about where I sleep if we can't find a way to get out of here."

Makoto looked at Usagi in her nightgown, her hair loose in a way that she only ever had it just as she woke up.
"Maybe you should go get dressed. I'll check out this network thing and see what I can find out... unless you have any information to impart that I don't know. I did only just get here."

Makoto was sick of being the leader already. She wanted Minako to lead, she wanted Mercury to strategise and research, she wanted Rei to point out the flaws. Makoto just wanted to fight whoever had brought them here, she didn't know what she was doing.

She hid all her insecurities from Usagi, though. She'd tell Serenity in a heartbeat, but Usagi was 16, and if she needed protecting, Makotoo was going to do it.

Usagi listened and nodded slightly as Makoto spoke. Regardless of how hard she tried to hide it, the one thing Usagi had always been good at was understanding how her friends were feeling. Makoto may be older, but she was still one of Usagi's senshi and closest friends. "Getting a good nights sleep is important. We can't go out looking for a way out if you're sore and tired from sleeping on the couch."

Pushing her hair back lightly, and glancing at the PDA she didn't seem all that hopeful. "I tried teleporting out, tried using the crystal, went to the library where we first showed up, and fighting the knights. Pluto has yet to show up. No one has any idea how to get out on the network. We don't even know who brought us here, and the people that actually live here won't say anything about it." Usagi explained, proving that she clearly did try to get home, but found it nearly impossible short of just vanishing at random. Young or not, her fight with Chaos, and being here alone for so long -- She'd been forced to mature, and do things on her own. Obviously, she had still been very upset and lonely, but that didn't mean she'd just sat around these past months and pouted. She'd tried her hardest to get home.
