========

Scorpius was so glad that his best mate was here once again. Sure, he'd probably be happy back home.. where he apparently still was. Yet he was also here, right now, at this moment. Uh-oh, those headaches again. But now it wasn't just him and Rose. No.. the Slytherin Trio was together once again. He focused more lately, hoping against hope that Al was right, that all this was a delusion. Merlin, he knew his father didn't mind at all that he was on friendly terms with the Potter family. Well, at least with Albus. Along with Rose Weasley. But it had hurt him inside to see that look in his false father's eyes. The anger in the voice. He didn't like thinking about it.

But there was something else he had discovered. He had been flirting with that girl River. Or was she a weapon? Girl.. he was confused. Anyway, he'd been flirting, hitting on her pretty good. What else would he do? He's a Malfoy, after all. And it had been a while. What he didn't expect was that their talking would have the opposite effect. Oh no, she wasn't going to come after him, wasn't going to date him. Or do anything else. Noooo... she was going into the arms of another guy. Though to be fair? He was partly responsible. He'd been the one to suggest it. But that was mainly because he assumed they were already going out. Which apparently was not the case. But now they would be. That sort of sucked. But then again, he was also happy for her.

However, there was a bright side to this, a silver lining to this cloud of despair. The flirting and remarks of the girls 'hotness', in combination with his own, it helped in distracting him from his own current predicament with his worst fear. Well, he had secondary worst fears. he hoped those weren't going to be shown up. But whatever happened, he just wanted to be around his friend Al, and Rose too, if possible. Maybe if someone was around, it would be better. So, here he was. He knocked twice on the door before calling out, "Al? Hey, AL!! It's me.. Scor. And yes, good news, I'm actually still awake...."

Al was in his bedroom when the knock sounded at the front door of his apartment. It felt strangely empty, without Scorpius sharing the flat with him, and he was just considering stopping by to pay his friend a visit and maybe suggest he move his things in before Al ended up saddled with some roommate he neither knew nor wanted, when Scorpius' voice rang through the door.

With a smile, Al put down his PDA and padded out of his room and across the living room. Reaching the front door, he opened it and peered out at his best friend. "Well," he intoned as he stepped aside to give the other boy room to enter, "it would seem that some wonders never cease."

The urge to clap his mate on the shoulder and confess that he was glad to see him was a strong one, but Al refrained for the time being. Instead he simply observed Scorpius as he stepped inside, faint worry shining in his green eyes. All of this talk of beings worse than boggarts and Scorpius' dad wanting to disown him just for being friends with someone who wasn't a pureblood had him worried.

Granted, Al knew that his friend wasn't nearly as certain of himself as he let on at times. That a great deal of the face he showed the public was a sort of bravado that came from being a Malfoy. He understood that, and accepted it, and was able to see right through it. But this... this was different. Knowing Scorpius had weaknesses and fears and doubts was one thing. Seeing them played out to the point that they were obviously causing his friend to not think clearly - that was something else entirely.

"So how's it going, mate?" he finally broke the silence after a second, deciding he wouldn't ask about the issues directly. If Scorpius wanted to talk about them, he would. Talking was one thing he was quite adept at doing, after all.

"It's going," Scorpius said with a sigh as he came into the room. He had really missed his friend. It was like a rift in his absence, with just himself and Rose. But now they were a trio again. "Just me and my secrets, and.. fears." He shuddered momentarily, moving to a chair.

He looked up at Albus then. "There's something else too, Al. There's this.. girl. Yes, a girl." He laughed softly. "I was talking to her. About you know.. boyfriends, girlfriends, that kind of thing. I was doing the charm thing.. you know how it is, I guess." He winked playfully, before looking serious again. "But.. damn, it backfired. I may have instead.. sent her toward another guy. And that's cool, it is. Really. I was just hoping to meet a girl here. But how about you, have you met anyone interesting?"

Taking a seat across from Scorpius, Al listened as he spoke. If there was one thing he knew, it was that most times all it took for Scorpius to work through an issue was for him to just discuss it half to death. It could be cumbersome, at times, but considering his friend had done his fair share of listening to Al bemoan one thing or another over the past seven years, he always did his best to do the same in return.

So he listened, nodding when it was appropriate, then smiled ever so slightly when the other wizard had finished speaking. "I just got back, Scor," he pointed out, first and foremost. "I haven't done much talking to anyone much less met anyone new. And I'm sure you'll find someone soon enough. When the time is right and all that rot."

Then he grew a bit more somber, deciding that while idly conversation was all well and good, they really did need to discuss the issues that Scorpius had mentioned earlier over the PDA. So with a slight shuffling in his seat to get a little more comfortable, he went against his previous decision not to bring it all up and dove right in with the typical Potter flair.

"So, anymore issues with this fear bit that's going around?" he questioned. Beating around the bush was never a forte of his. Especially when it came to his friends. Best to just spit it out and be done with it.

"Ohh... right, guess I forgot," Scorpius said with a nod. Of course Albus had not met anyone new. Not in so little time he'd been here, so far. "Yeah, guess I'll find someone. Someone hot." He paused. "With, you know, some personality too." Scor knew that Al could always see through that. The blond wasn't always as shallow as he appeared.

As he sat nearby, he was quiet for a moment. They were going to have to talk about it sooner or later. He knew that. And when Albie had asked the question, he knew it was right. "I just... I don't want my father to disown me for my secrets, or because you and me are friends." He laughed nervously. "Which is silly, right? I mean.. we both know my father has been okay with it for years, with us being friends... regardless of what some other people thought."

Al's lips curved up in a smile, although it was hardly mocking but rather one of fondness. "Scor," he said without a second of pause, "your dad came to terms with us years ago. And you know there's no ruddy way he's just been pretending all of this time, solely to drop the hatchet now."

Shifting a bit in his seat, elbows resting on his knees so he was leaning a little closer to his friend, he added, "As for your secrets..." He gave a hint of a shrug before grinning once more. "Well, you know how I feel about all of that rot. I tell my dad most everything, especially if it's of importance. Bit hard for him to be sore over some secret of mine he might discover if there aren't any that really matter, yeah?"

He knew, of course, that Scorpius' dad and his dad were two very different people. Just as he knew that the relationship Scorpius had with Draco was different than his relationship with his dad. However, he did truly believe that any secret that might lead to potential disowning was massive enough that Draco may very well deserve to know about it.

Unless, of course, it wasn't really important at all and Scorpius was simply making a whole lot of something out of nothing.

"Really, though," Al tossed out after a second, his green eyes shining thoughtfully as he met the other man's gaze, "I can't think of a single thing you'd be hiding from him that would make him turn on you."

"Ohh... really?" He looked up at his friend, then realized it. Of course he was right. It made perfect sense to him now that he thought about it. "Yes, well, he wouldn't be that patient. I'd know if he was against it long ago.. but he's not really here. Right? I mean, everybody here would know if he was." He paused then, mulling it over in his head. Secrets. Yes, he had one or two. Ones that he kept from everyone, holding it close to his vest, so to speak. Then again, maybe Al knew, or had a pretty good idea. He could certainly see through anything else Scor was about. He could never quite BS his friend.

He shrugged. "Well.. alright, though it's sort of personal. Very much, but it.." He stopped, shaking his head, continuing with a laugh. Maybe now wasn't the best time to get into it. Or maybe if his friend knew, it would change his opinion on him. But he felt that was probably ridiculous too. "Yeah, it's not that big a deal, you're right. I could just be exaggerating or something. You know how it is. I just.. maybe I'll tell you later sometime, when this is all over. If it's ever over. Maybe." He sighed. "But what about you? Have you been affected by this as well? Seeing anything bad?"
