Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Makoto Kino and Usagi Tsukino
What: Meeting between past and future
When: After this
Where: Between the streets near the library and room 107A
Rating: TBD.

Makoto stood on the street just a little down from the library and stared the PDA she held in her hand. It was Usagi, not Serenity. She was out of her time and Usagi was out of her time and they were here... in Colligo... together. She wondered for a brief moment what year it was in Colligo, but decided she really didn't care. She had to get the princess, find Pluto and get them back to where they should be so that they could prepare for whatever battle this was an omen of.

Checking the map on the PDA, Makoto found room 107A and started off in that direction. She stared down at the PDA as she walked, only glancing up to check landmarks and she couldn't help but smile at the fact she was going to meet with Usagi from the past. She wondered exactly where in her history Usagi was from. She knew about Crystal Tokyo, so she had already been to see the future.

The journey to the building was quick, Makoto walked fast - she had to make sure Uasgi was okay - and before she knew it, she was standing in front of the door to 107A, with a plaque above the door stating that the room belonged to her past friend.

Usagi pulled her hair up neatly, smoothed down her dress, and retrieved the small pink box of cookies she had made and not burnt. She wanted it to be perfect. The young blond hated to admit that this place upset her more then she let show. Of course, it was definitely more then a little obvious when she finally opened the door for Makoto.

Usagi's eyes were watering the second she set her sights on the older senshi, and all but threw herself in Makoto's arms. Pink box dropped as she buried her face in the other girl's shoulder. Usagi was admittedly a crybaby, but this was different from the usual tears. She was genuinely upset, but very happy at the same time as strange as it sounded. Usagi had come here shortly after the fight with Chaos; the death of her friends still fresh in her mind, and then having some of them show up here only to be taken away, usually before she even got to see them again. It was hard.

"Mako-chan." After hugging her for a long minute, she rubbed her eyes, and pulled Makoto inside. Her arms were still curled around Makoto's, clinging softly to her side as if afraid Jupiter would vanish as well the moment she left go. "I'm sorry. Come inside. I missed you."

Makoto knocked and waited for Usagi to open the door. She wasn't sure why she was nervous; she'd met her friends from different timelines before. Chibiusa had stayed with them, they'd been to the future and met Mamoru. There was nothing scary about a past version of Neo Queen Serenity. She had, after all, already been friends with Usagi where she had come from.

Usagi had her own Mako-chan back where she had come from. Now that was a weird thought, and Makoto finally settled her thoughts musing about how much she'd changed since the last time since her friend had called herself Usagi.

Makoto wasn't expecting to be smothered by Usagi when the door was finally opened. She'd barely had a chance to take in the blonde girl holding a pink box with tears welling in her eyes before she launched herself into Makoto's arms and Makoto found herself hugging the sobbing younger version of her best friend like they used to after the hardest of hard battles.

Makoto squeezed back tightly, getting teary at the reaction when she remembered the sad and lonely undertones in the three messages she had exchanged over the PDA network. A couple of months... How did Usagi survive without her friends for a couple of months? She went stir-crazy if they had to leave her with Mamoru for a week!

Mamoru...

Makoto broke off the hug and watched Usagi rub her eyes.

She had no words to respond to the apology, she just let the girl cling to her arm and lead her inside as if she was going to disappear. Like Rei, Minako and Michiru ... like Mamoru always did.

Makoto found herself feeling a little awkward once they were inside the apartment and she'd had a chance to look at Usagi. It was strange that Serenity was so little - she was still a teenager, and that was much younger than Makoto was imagining her to be.

"So... this is your home," was all she managed to get out, not asking the million questions like:
had Usagi had found out where Colligo even was
where had Usagi had been before she arrived
why had the others had just disappeared
who were the other "people" she spoke
and what was up with the message boards - where everyone seemed to be freaking out.

Still in her daze, Makoto spotted the pink box on the floor by the door and managed to untangle herself from Usagi to pick it up. She scraped all the cookies back into it and quickly returned to the side of the young princess, holding the box open as she smiled at the (almost) perfect-looking cookies inside.

Makoto didn't ask why Usagi suddenly burst into tears, or think twice about wrapping her arms tightly around the smaller girl. She didn't mind that Usagi held almost desperately to her, and didn't question the tears. All facts that Usagi appreciated more then she could even begin to express. Normally she was pretty good at hiding those sort of things, as odd as it seemed. As much as she cried and simpered about little things, when Usagi was truly troubled, she usually didn't like to bother her friends with it, but after so long without all of them -- It was all Usagi could do not to hold on to Makoto longer, and tell the other girl all her worries and everything.

Instead she sniffed, and nodded at the comment about her little apartment. Putting on a smile again, she helped pick up the cookies, deeming them still good as she took a bite of one. They were more chocolate chip then cookie, but were unburnt and edible -- a big step for her usually deadly cooking skills.

"I work at a bakery after school. They teach me to make things some times." Usagi said, a bit of pride in her tone, and looking to Makoto for her approval because if anyone would be proud of her for not only getting a job, but one that helped her learn to cook it would be Mako-chan. Having school and a job helped keep her busy and distracted, it had helped a lot while she was here on her own.

"I used to have a room mate too, but she went to stay with someone else...I hope your room is near by." Her little apartment was full of signs that she'd been here for some time. School textbooks untouched on the floor next to her backpack, all kinds of little games, easily made food like ramen and microwave dinners in the kitchen (she was learning, but not at all past the boiling water stage of cooking meals yet), and you could see hints of the pink sheets in her room, and stuffed rabbits on the bed.

Usagi took a bite out of a cookie without making a face or choking and Makoto took this as a signal that they were edible. She picked up a cookie and nibbled on it, the chocolate taste filling her mouth.

Usagi's pride at her cookies made Makoto a little nostalgic. As queen, Serenity didn't need to cook, but she had learnt a few tricks for simple cooking before she had people to wait on her hand and foot.

"I think these cookies are great," Makoto said fondly, remembering the encouragement she had had to give the newly married Usagi when giving cooking tutoring.

"My room? I'm not planning on staying here, Uasgi. We have to get you back to your time and me back to mine."

The tension was broken now, and Makoto felt that she could finally ask her most pressing question. She pulled Usagi over to the couch and sat down.

"Where exactly were you pulled from?" she asked gently.

Usagi brightened for a moment, pleased that Makoto had enjoyed the cookie, but it was quickly brought right back down at the suggestion that the other wasn't staying. Her hand flew to grasp the brunette's, letting herself be pulled down onto the couch. It didn't help when the subject turned back to her own time.

"Not long after Chaos." When she'd come here so soon after that, it had been hard, but she managed. Recently though, seemingly out of no where, she'd started having nightmares about it. Horrible dreams that Chaos had returned while she was trapped here, and her friends were hurt or worse -- That she'd failed them by not being able to get out of this place. On more then one occasion in the past couple of nights she'd woken in a panic because of it.

"I've tried everything to get back. I have!" She insisted, tears beginning to well up again, as those fears returned. "But Pluto hasn't shown up, I can't leave, I don't even know where this planet is -- Even the crystal..." As kindly as Makoto had tried to ask, it still set Usagi off in near hysterics. The fear that had started to spread through the city hadn't missed her, and considering everything she and the senshi had seen and been through back home -- it wasn't hard to really send the princess over the edge with all that.

"You're here and okay. So that means back home everyone is safe, right? Because -- Because I keep having nightmares, and I couldn't get home. If they, you, everyone was hurt or in danger, and I wasn't there to help...Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough. Rei and Minako and Michiru all got to go back, they -- they left me." Usagi wrapped her arms around herself, and curled up into the couch rather then Makoto. Because her friend had come from Crystal Tokyo, had known her has a queen -- as Serenity. How stupid and childish she probably looked now, stuck in this place still while the others had gotten to go home...

"Usagi... princess..." Makoto reached out a hand to the young queen. She hadn't meant to upset the other girl, but remembering the fight with Chaos, having just lost all of her friends and just gotten them back. Usagi must be fragile at the moment.

"Even the Crystal what? </strike> Now was not the time to be asking those kinds of questions and as Usagi hugged herself and curled away from her on the couch, Makoto was overwhelmed with sadness for her friend.

She knelt on the floor in front of the couch and took Usagi's hand, coaxing her to unfurl and lean on her.
"Everyone was safe when I left," she told her. "There's no need for you to worry too much or feel like a failure. Don't forget who you are, Usagi. Don't forget who you become..."
She paused for a second, waiting for some reaction and trying to think of anything else to say to the pained girl.

"I'll never leave your side, princess. No matter what happens, I won't leave," she frowned and tried to think of something reassuring to say about Rei, Minako and Michiru, but couldn't fathom why they would ever leave their princess to fend for herself. The Senshi she knew in Crystal Tokyo were pained to be separated for a few days.
"And I don't think the others meant to, either."

Her eyes were still squeezed together tightly, trying to force back the tears as Makoto took her hand. The words were kind, and helped a little. Still, Usagi knew who she was. She also knew what she was expected to be, and that is what scared her. Even if Makoto had the confidence in her to be the queen she knew, at the moment, Usagi didn't. All that she could see were her nightmares replayed, of all the times she'd had to watch her friends being harmed or killed, and the frightening images brought on by the fear that something awful was happening in her absence. Even if Makoto assured her this wasn't true, the fear was there enhanced by whatever strange force was unleashed on Colligo this time.

Usagi nodded briefly at the promise to stay with her, and this coaxed more of a reaction from her. Her arms wrapped loosely over Makoto's shoulders, pulling her into a hug again, and remaining there this time. She didn't say anything more about the other's leaving.

"I'm sorry, Mako-chan." Usagi murmured into her shoulder. "I really will try to get us home, I promise. I just don't know how. I'm glad you're here now."

Makoto was glad of the hug, she needed to reassure her friend.
"You don't have to do it alone. You've never been alone and you're not alone now."
She mumbled into Usagi without breaking away.
"Whatever we do, we'll do it together, like we always have."
